So glad you called out the Motorhead elements in this song. Definite Lemmy vibes in the vocals when James first comes in.

I think it's one of those songs that make more sense when you focus more on the storytelling and lyricism than the energy of the song. The lyrics are straight from the heart and the song leaves a lotta room for James' vocals. I do not think this is the kind of song for a single, but this will be a killer song when it goes with the whole album. Can't wait to listen to the whole album and really feel the mood.

What's wrong with energy in this song ?🤣 Great song. Better than meaningless endless nowadays shredding

@Garri well I just thought there was too many riff intros and repeating riffs that really wasn't necessary and made the song a bit less intense. However I agree that it's a great song!

It´s always ok to "be gushing over this guys". Thank you so much for the reaction and the analysis. I´ve been listening to them since I was... 11, 12???? (The mom of one of my schoolmates was a fan, so she recorded me the tapes). I was so happy when I listened to "Master of Puppets" on the last season Stranger things, and thought that a ton of teenagers would be discovering them at that moment. (My niece in law is 13 and is obsessed with them, Queen, LZ, Guns and Roses, etc). Ryan, please don´t discard me as a Metallica fan, forgive me, but from the Black album? The Unforgiven and Nothing Else matters are the two songs I really do like still today.

I've been a fan since 88 myself. Love Metallica, and I as well, do enjoy St. Anger. This, to me, has a Reload/Garage Inc../Motor Head vibe. This song is a banger! Black Album for me, is on the low tier of top albums. Load and reload are definitely better, and Death Magnetic is far much better than the black album. Sad But True I speed thru live performances and skip thru when it pops up on my random playlist also including e Enter Sandman. It does have great songs like Holier Than Thou, Through The Never, My Friend Of Misery, The Struggle Within. Great reaction and breakdown. We almost have the same similarities ..lol

Awesome reaction, guys! When I was first listening to this song, I wasn't sure it was single worthy till the chorus grew on me the second time. Then the whole second half is just amazing. You guys rock 🤘

I just got my hands on my first ever IEMs and having listened to Metallica since my teens, them releasing this banger today only was such a nice coincidence. Hetfield is undoubtedly the greatest riff writer in history, yes the greatest. Kirk's solo could have been better. But overall this album is shaping up to be great. P.S. The end bridge like breakdown portion was so great. It sounded like a mixture of Halo on fire, enter sandman and the reload sound signature. So Metallica is doing the right thing. Taking what they have done and adding to it.

Not only do I think st. Anger is a great album I think it’s a masterpiece album Where I enjoy every single song on this album Something about James raw and agressive voice along with riffs that are heavy and different and the harsh drums make the album sound…fantastic to me Idk how else to describe that album lol Yes I expect slot of hate on this comment

The math of 72 seasons is not based on the number of members in the band; it's based on the fact that we all experience 72 seasons in 18 years.

Ryan but Black Album also had Wolf and Man, Holier than thou, Wherever I may roam, The God That Failed. These are the best songs on album. Plus this album had Unforgiven snd considering that we hate Sad But True and Enter Sandman because of overpopularity of it Black album is S tier album. Btw It's been a while since I was on your channel :) already 3 years probably, maybe even more. After all of those sanctions on Russia I couldn't give you more song requests, but I had a lot of great prog stuff. It's pity. Anyway stay healty guys!

Kirk solo in this song from DEEP PURPLE - SPEED KING
@animalwillopus79

Kirk lost his phone with his riffs in it. Not solos. He's been winging it way too long(since DM). Like to see him not play it so safe. Wonder how many writing credits he has on 72 Seasons. He does sound more structured here tho i must say. This new tune reminds me of Kill, Reload and Hardwired. The 'keep me inside' and the 'hook' sound too clunky...doesn't pay off....for me. Can't wait for April!!!

Philosophically, metallica is also in deep subject matter. This song is a very deep song in dealing with suicide. There's a lot of psychology in this song you guys are not touching. You're focusing too much on the instrumental parts without looking at the deeper points of the subject matter of the song. The instrumental parts will become more conscious when you have the revelation of the context of the song. Like all of these reaction videos, no one goes into the detail of the philosophical or psychology of metallica and how that's why they are the biggest metal band. It's not about the guitar parts, it's about the words and how they relate to the individual. Read a little deeper.

I was with you until the black album hate. I know it's all subjective, but Metallica has 5 S-tier albums, and the black album is one of those.

Yeah, Sad but True is a really deep song in its philosophically and psychology. Most people overlook the context of Metallica's songs and only look at the instrumental parts. The Black album has a lot of real deep meaning in it.

The only issue i have with the songs are the solos, Kirk should have played faster and more interesting ones.

every year has 4 SEASONS. thus 18 x 4 Seasons = 72 Seasons. Nothing to do with number of band members. Also.. what's up with this "True Metallica Fan" garbage? We all back in middle school in 1987 again? Was a good reaction up until that silliness. First saw Metallica in 85. Been one of my top 2 bands (along with Maiden) ever since. I like most of the Black album, even if I would rank it below the previous 4. You going to tell me I'm not a "true fan"? Let's discuss it in the moshpit. 😉

If you say sad but true is boring then I will say kirk’s solo here is also boring. Symptoms of Covid-19 are loss of smell loss of taste and for Kirk loss of kick ass solos. Other than the loss of kick ass solos this track is a banger. Loved it.

IMHFO, this track misses. Boring. Not inspired. I’m all in favor of doing new and honoring old, but this just seems like they phoned this one in. As a track, I think it sucks. Parts of it? Sure. Ok. The bass sound. James does some new shit with his voice. Taking on a taboo theme. Bravo. As a rock/metal song. Nope. I have zero interest in hearing it a 3rd time fully. Thx for the review.
