Get ready for more Metallica as I go through their entire catalogue. You don't want to miss any of these epic tutorials that cover every lick and riff in complete tab. Let me know what Metallica track gets your vote for a tutorial. Be sure to like and subscribe ru-vid.com Thanks for the support!
It is criminal that this man doesn’t have more visibility, by far the most helpful of all tutorials I’ve seen on the internet and I’ve been through quite a few. I wish you get a million subs soon, all your work here is certainly worthy of it.
another great song Translated perfectly for the viewer. This is a great song for seeing how the blues scale is everywhere. even in metal. Well done Tim!
Love the video the time you’ve taken to explain all the licks in detail is so helpful. Am I aiming too high trying to learn this song as a very early beginner? 🤔
Hi Andy! No, there are lots of riffs in this song that are beginner friendly. The fast section might be difficult to get up to speed but you should work on playing it in time and as perfectly as possible. Speed is just a product of accuracy and it will get faster as you get more comfortable with it. It will take lots of patience though. Just be sure that you're understanding the riffs and playing to a metronome or drum machine and you can definitely work on this song as a beginner.
First metal song I’m trying to learn haha, as I’ve really gotten into Metallica recently from being a Beatles and 50’s /60’s rock n roll fan since I was 11 five years ago lol, every single other video about this on RU-vid that I’ve found is just tabs and someone playing the guitar which I find quite difficult to learn from when I’m terrible at the soloing and lead guitar, this video and your style of teaching is so bloody helpful and I appreciate the time and effort you put into these videos as it’s SO much easier to learn from, so if you do see this, if it means anything from a stranger, thank you ever so much for these videos and I’m definitely going to learn from more of them after I get this one down!! Thank you!!🤘
These videos are so so good. I can’t believe they don’t have more views. I’ve been trying to get into playing a bit of metal and your Kill ‘em All lessons have been unbelievable. Thanks so much!
The most helpful channel on RU-vid for tutorials on modern guitar! Your lessons are very clear and helpful AND we are not bombarded with “like and subscribe” like other channels. Of course, I have liked and subscribed. Thank you very much for the great lessons. Please can we have Jump in the Fire? (and more of your modern guitar basics)
Thank you very much! I appreciate the sub. I have a tutorial for Jump In The Fire. You should be able to find it easy enough. I apologize in advance for my tone on it though. It was the very first Metallica tutorial I did and my process has gotten a lot better since then.
@@TimHolman Found it! Was so overwhelmed by the sheer amount of great stuff that I missed it! Have wanted to learn this for 30+ years. Thanks again. (Ha! we should be so lucky to have your tone)
Bro this man made me learn the full song with out palm muting in 2 hours in 1 day thank you so much dude you made it very clear I just gotta learn how to palm mute and play at the right speed cause I play it slow but not to slow I'd say a decent past
Hey Tim, great lesson, I used to play this when I first started really playing guitar at the age of 17, as I am 54 now, playing off and on through the years, picking up the guitar again on a daily basis about 6 years ago, you tube wasn't available way back when I first started playing and had to play by ear, I mostly played James's rhythm parts, not much of a lead player, but I came across your channel and it's just what I needed. James's parts under the solo I used to struggle with, but thank you for explaining this, at a slower tempo, it is fast down picking, anyway, I'm going to subscribe, you said you were going to do all Metallica Kill em all, I'll check it out, see what else I've played wrong, lol thanks Tim
I hope you are enjoying this video. If you have been a friend of the channel for a while please consider giving a donation. Keep in mind most of these videos takes upwards of 40 hours to make and RU-vid doesn't pay nearly enough to warrant this kind of time. If you would like to see content come out faster, please give in accordance with your means. www.paypal.com/paypalme/timholmanofficial
7:30 or on the second line you could throw out the 4th string 7th fret [A] and replace it with 5th string 12th fret [A] and then slide down to 5th string 10th fret [G] which would still put you right in the vicinity for the 10/12 power chord.
Awesome! Great Metallica song. I like your attention to detail Tim. Good to learn songs from someone who is into the band. More accurate! The wrong way is often harder to play as well. Other bands? AC/DC is another great band to learn songs/solo's from. Led Zeppelin, Skynyrd, The Beatles, all the classic rock from the 70's. I'm also looking forward to your lessons for the Metallica songs I already know so I can improve them. Sad But True, Enter Sandman and Nothing Else Matters!
New to your channel. Incredibly good lesson. Down to every detail. Can I make a request? I'm hoping to one day find someone who will do the solo for "Bad Attitude" by Hellion.
Nice to meet you, thanks for the sub! I'll add that to the list but I probably won't get to it for awhile. My channel is too small and that's too obscure of a song to get good views right now. Once my channel is a bit larger I can tackle that for you. 🍻🤘
Today theres waay more songs avail to us, but we become really good at 'Copying' rather than training our Ears to work out, at least, parts of songs ourselves. Compared to how many of us X-gens learned in the 80s, this is a big loss, and tuners, while handy, also take away the ear training of tuning off a pitch pipe etc. Also i notice a lack of improvising too, another big loss. Many will spend time arguing about the "Correct" way to play a song (copying), rather than tweaking the riffs and solos to be easier in their own hands, and to their own style. None of this is 'wrong', just an observation of the differences of the times, and a couple of major losses due to the easy availability of having it handed to you, rather than putting in the effort to work it out yourself. Wouldve been nice to have this much access to Walk Thru's in the 80s, but there was no internet nor mobile phones back then. So just different learning methods. But i believe if the newer guitarists (of the last 10yrs), add more improvising and working out (some) songs by ear, is a very important skills to take you to a whole other level of your guitar-ability. Start just with really easy songs, and 'fish' for each root note of each chord on the 6th string. Tgen work out whether its a maj, min, or 5th, etc. Then do the same for (slow) easy solos. Dont be afraid to change the solo to another note in that scale ...if youre not sure what scale its in just use a minor pentatonic scale ...its the experimenting thats important, not the correctness.
