I love Death Magnetic, & Hardwired...To Self-Destruct, they're very great albums, & tbh, The Day That Never Comes is probably in my top 5 Metallica songs
This whole album was fucking awesome man, I don't care what anyone says about the "mixing" I can't tell a difference. All Nightmare Long is a deadly song, best one on the album for sure!
Ian Johnson I think the issue was when the album was first released, it’s mixing was trash, but it was rectified shortly after and I don’t think you even find anything like how it used to sound anymore. Amazing album though, I agree.
This is what I like about KTF; he's not infected with old school syndrome. He doesn't treat everything in the 80s as automatically better. He has much better vision of reality. Bc let's be honest, if this song was on RTL or Master back in the day, it would be heralded as great
Agreed. Fade to Black is better to me because it holds more meaning but it is interesting seeing someone who has never experienced Metallica compare them all on even ground. I love Death Magnetic btw.
Scott Vance fucking truth right here, people don’t consider this top 5 because it’s recent, when in reality if this was made years prior it would easily be an all time classic
@zachary wellendorf I agree and also I feel the drums are really weak compared to allot of other songs.not saying Lars sucks because I truly don't feel like he does but this album was really bland on his part
Definitely not true. I fuckin LOVE this album and Metallica's been my number one since Friday, Aug 29, 1986 - the first time I heard them (Master of Puppets on cassette). Immediately bought Ride and Kill, then every one since. I appreciate their progression- especially now that they've come full circle. I love 100% of their albums and I like 90% of their songs, and even have favorites on Load and Reload, as well as St Anger. As much as I love them- my LEAST favorite song (not the worst musically, just least favorite) is Enter Sandman. I know when I go see them in Cincy one week from today they will end with that song, but I will still love it that day because it's live. That said, this song IS one of my top 5 Metallica songs. The shredding instrumental at the end is my favorite of all their songs.
Is not about about evolution or "not growing up" is about the old Metallica stuff is musically and lirically superior. Just that simple. Musically they fall down in the last decades and that's a fact that every respected musician could confirm. This song is not bad, is one of the few new songs that I kind of like it musically more or less, but to me that middle part "this, I swear" sounds forced as hell. This is not the smooth old Metallica that I was used to hear. Lyrically the same, old Metallica stuff was way more deep meaning.
The opening to Fixxxer is one of the most menacing openings to any Metallica song - that slow build-up with the siren-wail of Kirk's guitar warning of oncoming danger...
I love it too. It's really underrated. it's the best album they had put out after the black album in my opinion. The only pet peeve I have with it is the shitty cropped as all fuck mixing on it -- but that's where the guitar hero master tracks come into play.
Man I love Death Magnetic. It was the very first Metal album I listened to. I remember seeing this song on MTV, it completely blew my brains out. Fell in love with the song, the band, and the genre.
I have metallica tattooed on my bicep and "nothing else matters" on my forearm. My husband has "forever trusting who we are in his" next im getting the music notes to this song done on me.. simply because that's how much it hits me on an emotional level.. like you said, "poetry". I had the biggest smile on my face seeing someone appreciate it hahhaha \m/ such an underrated song
I don't rank Metallica songs anymore...It's an exercise in futility. I've been a fan since '85 and trying to choose a favorite is impossible. When this song first came out I thought, meh ...but as time has passed it has really grown on me. I absolutely love it now..
My top 3 songs would have to be spit out the bone, ride the lightening, and all nightmare long. And I love the cover to loverman Favorite album is totally ride the lightening. I'm 23 so I don't have the same expiriences as you guys but Metallica is my favorite band of all time. I wish I could go back to the 80s and see them once with cliff.
@@NoxWyatt 81'-18' yup 37 years and counting. When a band can stand the test of time like that, it doesn't matter how much hate they get, they're still cemented as legends in music.
Thats funny. In this day in age why wouldnt we expect someone to respond ""They've been around much longer than that"" When you clearly said "This album was 25 years into their career!" Lol seriously, how can people type before they actually use their brain? Its mind boggling really
HOLD ON!! They just released one from the vault, "Metallica: Blackened (Mountain View, CA - September 15, 1989)" BETTER than Seattle!! And refreshing to see new footage!!
@shadowstalker1120 YES All Nightmare Long is a fucking amazing song. imo one of there best. rivals One Fade Orion etc. its an amazing song that goes through epic changes reminds me of Megadeth holy wars a little bit. super under rated.
I love the entire album. It got me through my father's bout with cancer. Do yourself a big favor and watch the official video for this song. it's cinematic quality, and very emotional...about war.
The day that never comes is just one of all the songs I love from Metallica. But let me tell you, the more Metallica songs you listen to, you can't just choose 5 favorites, your list will definitely change. Their songs are amazing!!!!.... And very different.
Yes! Watch the video for this song. I was in Iraq when this album came out and the PX only had about thirty or so copies. So I grabbed it up. Next day all were sold out!!! At all of the PX'S . THIS ALBUM IS SO SPECIAL TO ME. I turned 35 over there and been a fan since '85. Keep doing what ya do!!!! Great reaction!!!
That Fade To Black comment is sacrilegious. In you own words, "COME ON BRUUUUUUUUUUUUH!" Good song but not better than FTB. Great channel Preston, been following for a while. RESPECT. Still haven't gotten around to Metallica - Lepper Messiah RnB Track TANK - No Why.
@UCdJO9vyP-MhI4EEihLfdJtQ Agreed, Fade To Black is really simple as Hell but sometimes that's when you're looking to create something emotionnal that you're not going To make something complex and that is exactly what happenned with Fade. Though its not overrated, this is pure genius and full of emotion just as TDTNC. They are both similar songs and although I love "The Day" it is just a Fade To Black 2.0 to be honest.
Especially if you consider that TDTNC is practically a rehash of One, feeling and structurally-wise. ANL is its own shit, and the music video is artistic af. Saw it for the first time on tv around 04:00 am, so that add a lot of weirdness to my first view. Hope Preston reacts to All Nightmare Long music video too!
Let me just say I never said Fade To Black was the BEST song ever. I just said it is better than this one. As many have said Metallica has matured as musicians and song writers. Of course through life experiences and life changes. They are not the young balls to the wall guys I been listening since I was around 12yrs old back when master of puppets came out. One of my favorite songs I feel is very underrated is "my friend of misery" but I won't say it's better than just about any song from the previous albums before the black album. That's just me. I wasn't trying to start a debate or argument. Peas.
@CLureCo definitely agree. It depends on mood with me more than anything. If I have to get myself psyched up for something I'm not going to play fade to nlack, or nothing else matters. I'm on some dyers eve, harvester of sorrow, four horsemen, motorbreath, damage inc., battery, we'l you get the point. So again never said fade to black was the best, only better than this song. Peas. BTW thumbs up to you.
I love how you just simply react to what you hear and what you love. You are not beholden to anyone else's opinions or the histories of songs. You just like what you like... and probably remind some people to give certain songs a second look.
Not my top 5. Kirk's solo doesn't do it for me. I'm spoiled by how he played in the 80s. Top 5 for me. 1. Master of Puppets 2. Disposable Heros 3. Blackend 4. Fight fire with fire. ( that solo is Fire💥) 5. Kall of ktulu( Kirk's best solo IMO)
I must second A Question of Heaven. Matt's voice is AMAZING in this. Song (and the whole album, for that matter) is about the comic book character, Spawn.
7:33 the look on your face haha, you looked like you were resisting another *_HOOOLD_* *ON* *BRUUHHHHH* but you already used your token on that, ya only get 1 per video. You could've hit em with that Super Saiyan 2 aura tho
You should definitely try the song "and justice for all" by them!

My first Metallica show was in '86 when Cliff was still alive...Can't wait to see them once again in Portland in December! I love the past two albums! Are you ready to go to a metal show? Treat yourself to Metallica and Tool! You deserve it!
You really need to react to AC DC live performances, you must see Angus Young live, will blown your mind! AC/DC - Rocker (live Paris) Love ur work! Keep it up!
Death magnetic is one of my favorit metallica albums and this song is one of the best songs of this album, if you like the songs like this, try " No leaf clover" and "unforgiven III"
I think you're a Metallica fan from the old school and don't know it yet(cause u keep switching "favorite" songs)....Great reaction as always, but there are SOOOO Many great Metallica songs...haven't seen "Fuel" in the comments yet....keep 'em coming!!! God bless!
It's normal. That's what happened to me, too. My first fav MetallicA song was Escape and Trapped Under Ice. Since then, it has been changing. Now my fav is All Nightmare Long and Spit Out The Bone.
This song would be in my top 5 of any other band. But for Metallica, it doesn't crack the top 10. And that is saying something because the song is legit.
What I love about your reactions compared to the other "rap guy listens to Rock" reactions is that I can tell you genuinely like the songs you say you like where as other reactors just say it cause they know that's what we want to hear Keep up the great work! Now I gotta suggest you react to Muse-Butterflies and Hurricanes
The great thing about Metallica is that every fan probably has a different top 5. My personal top 5 is: Fade to Black, Ride the Lightning, Harvester of Sorrow, Lepper Messiah, For Whom the Bell Tolls. Ask me next week, the list may change!
I admit I'm old school metallica from the 80s who thinks ajfa was the last of peak metallica, but this one here I put as one of their greatest songs ever.
