Metallica: The Frayed Ends of Sanity (Helsinki, Finland - May 28, 2014) 

Finland, the only country who made a good use of the By Request tour, and got them to play this gem.

Metallica is the kind of band that waits 25+ years to play this masterpiece in full. They’re also the kind of band that do a show in ANTARCTICA and not play Trapped Under Ice...

The irony is that the song is never played because it they thought it would be awkward, but it is actually really good live, especially the beginning.

I love how no matter how cold it is, Robert is usually wearing shorts. Lol

Hearing Robert’s bass just makes you realize how screwed Jason got on “Justice”.

The Frayed End of Sanity and Dyers Eve are two songs Rob really want to play when he's join the band. 11 years waited for this momment.

Fun fact: Earlier in the tuning room, Lars was nervous that he woudln't be able to nail this solo 4:01 infront all those people. And Lars asked James to be next to him when he does the drum part.

Let's appreciate that this incredibly complex arrangement is both so tuneful and so powerful. "Frayed" might be their greatest songwriting achievement.

Damn, they totally nailed the whole song. Even Lars. I honestly didn't expect that.

The mid section of this song is so damn good. The riffs, the drum break, and the solo are very well done. One of the highlights on AFJA in my opinion.

I don't think Kirk's solo gets enough love, it's one of his best.

Justice has finally been served. The frayed ends has been brought to the masses live. One of the greatest riffs in all of metal.

Let us not glaze over the fact that Lars absolutely killed it, double bass and all sounded brilliant.

This whole album was their best overall. I understand why you'd go with Master or Ride, but something about this album is STILL underrated. The solos are Kirk's best (Dyer's Eve is insanity), and the riffs are classic mastermind Het.

This song has, without a doubt, one of the best Metallica choruses.

In case you wondered about the quiet crowd: It was +7 C (44 F) all day with mild-to-heavy rain all day. But wait, there's more! There was also 6 m/s (13 mph) of north wind. The coldest type in Finland.

wow in the rhythm breakdown it looks like kirk is doing the triplet over triplet and James is doing every second triplet, kirk is a hell of a rhythm player doing that for that long and then straight into the solo, awesome

Justice is my favorite Metallica album. . Amazing tour as well. This is one of my favorite songs of all, not just of Metallica which there are many. But of all metal. Lyrically and Musically.

JAMES - A dad in a raincoat who came straight from watching his daughter play rugby. KIRK - A guitar tech they hired who came straight from his mum's house, took her sweater and played this gig. ROB - He just came straight from a basketball game and did his hair like that for his girlfriend. LARS - Just came straight from adult ballet lessons in his leotard.

Remember being there live for this and how freakkin cold it was! I flew from London the day before and almost didn't take a coat as it was 26 degrees the week before - when i got there it was 4! Had to buy a Raiders woolly hat in the Stockmann around the corner the day of the show. Great experience tho!

This is a beast of a song , countless different chunky as F brutal riffs , one after another , I'd lose my mind if I saw them play this song live, what a hidden absolute jem of a track this is , been a good couple years since last time I've listened too it, dunno how but almost kinda forgot about it as I'm ashamed to admit , it was kinda worth it though cause listeninh to this live version of it for the first time is almost like listening to it for first time ever, kinda.

Now, this is pure gold right here. Probably my favorite Metallica jam that doesn't involve Cliff or Mustaine, so much credit and thanks to James, Lars and Kirk for creating this epic piece of metal music for the ages. Rob sounds very tasty on this version too. Great performance!
