I had a girl practically beg me to to see Metallica back in 88. I was a country boy. She promised dinner, a show and a good time later. I begrudgingly went. I have loved them ever since.

Oh Lordy, I had forgotten until I read a few of the comments that this video was still getting airplay in the mid 90's. I remember on Compuserve's CB Simulator having a discussion about what this video was like. Some of the comments gave me flashbacks to 1995 and..... I'm just going to shut up before I age myself any further. edited to add: Back in 1995 Thin Lizzy's version was still being played on the air as a "classic from the 70's." I freely admit in 1995 I was only drug-free a year and was still drinking.

i love how lars plays in this song. nevermind his abilities but i think his style is just perfect for some songs. he has groove he has power he has the swing and the swagger and most of all his style is very recognizable. i like it and he is/was an inspiration for my own playing.

I played this at a huge family party in a hall recently. prior to this song i was playing all sorts of deep house, electro, drum and bass. I decided "fckit" and wanted to really change it up to what I was really feeling-some Metallica. Once Whiskey In The Jar came on, i noticed everyone grooving to it LMFAO not to mention so many people coming up to me either saying "hey this is a thin lizzy remake?????!!" or "hey who is is this? love it!". Got the same reaction to Lowman's lyric, Astronomy and a number of other Metallica ballads I put on \m/

When I was a little boy in Montana (age 11 years in 1991; Christmas time and my birthday 🙂), my grandma died (yes, I was sad 😢). I met her on her deathbed for nature's birthday present to me. She was born in the late 1800s, and survived the Great Depression, Prohibitionism, and World Wars. She taught me something; the only thing I can share with all of you. She taught me what a "Daddy-O" was. A Daddy-O is an alcohol smuggler who is sometimes a musician. ... ROCK-ON!! 🙂
