The quality and competency of our leaders is dropping like a stone, this can only mean trouble for the world, turbulent times ahead ! Gold and silver are safe havens for sure !

With the Brics countries selling US treasuries and whichever US president spending lavishly this is sure to end in tears. I dislike holding Gold but right now it seems like the obvious thing to do !

An old Jewish broker in NY told his audience to always have 15-20% of total assets in physical gold. I don’t have a lot of money but I scrapped together enough over a couple of years to buy some physical gold. Was good advice.

Yes, also given that the equities are also at ATH levels and have lofty valuations …

it clearly was. I wouldn’t bet for gold to perform this well this year and yet…

For people in the age group of 20/30, the best thing to do is find a cheap fee online broker and start buying solid dividend stocks. Reinvest the dividends annually and do this until early retirement. This strategy keeps pace with inflation. It also does really well over the long term thanks to the dividend compounding. If you run the numbers over a 30 year period, even a 2% differential between moderate dividends (eg most broad ETFs) and dividend aristocrats (eg Swiss Re etc) will compound to 1 million chf extra over 30 years. There are compound interest tools online. Check out the results if you run 2% and 5% compound over 30 years. Second point is that the S&P numbers are influenced by a few high performing heavyweights at any time. The vast majority of S&P stocks are poor performers. An S&P ETF will always do worse than a private portfolio of dividend paying aristocrats. That’s a non-binding opinion. Past performance is no indicator of future results.

I think the best way to decide to buy or sell is to look at the P/E numbers. If a stock is above 15 you need to really find out why because without a promise of robust future earning potential it’s basically just gambling on the price = which long term investors will tell you always ends in tears. Dear lady keep up the good work. A lot of effort goes into your daily show.

Well done. Any news on cryptos?

Thanks! Yes, the rumours of Ether ETF is boosting appetite but there is no guarantee regarding when we will see that happen. I think it will take less time than for Bitcoin - as the first is always the hardest to get approved, but more ETF approvals mean more capital inflows, the possibility to diversify within cryptos and that’s a positive development. Plus I like ether because it really gives a platform for DeFi and tokens. Let’s see !

I've been stung by gold so many times so I don't really have any gold miners. But it's really been a beast. A correction to 2280 was all we got. I would like to see oil close above 80 for the month, we'll see if we can get there. Depends on yields, too. All of these metals probably have to have some pullback if the rate cut party gets postponed indefinitely, again. But I guess we're a ways from that. That poor Mike Wilson guy, I agree with you, that's a sell signal 🤣
@ipekozkardeskaya1383

Yes I think there will certainly be a pullback when the speculative inflows have enough, or as you say, if the rate cut plans take a hit! We will see tomorrow what the UK has to announce for CPI🤞🏻

@@ipekozkardeskaya1383 Canada's CPI today may be enough to warrant a cut but I'm not sure they want to get ahead of the States. Yes, lots of non-commercial speculative longs in copper.

The others are willing to, why not the BoC?
@samthedoor

@@ipekozkardeskaya1383 I guess they might, certainly with shorter term mortgages in this country and less inflation, the pain of interest rates is harsher here so they could afford to do that. But then the currency becomes really weak. Certainly more likely a rate cut in Canada than in the States.
