Metalworking Tap Handles - Basics of Taps and Tapping (Part 3) 

hey Barry great video ! I would like to try and copy the aj smart handle .just from looking at your video i get the idea of how it works but it would be nice to have print of the handle to hand out to the students of my class .could you provide me with some dimensions of the handle ? Iimagine the adjuster V would have to be notched in some way to keep it from spinning ?

I use the goofy one you mentioned for deburring with a counter sink mounted in it. Otherwise it is a disaster for tapping, at least for me.

What is bad about the "cheesy" Chinese handles? And - how do hey work? They feel like they are pretty good, once I have found out how they work...

Not to mention you can use pin vises to hold taps.

I have a tap for a hex bolt that is M12-1.25 x 35mm.... can someone tell me what size tap wrench I would need? Would a 1/4"-1/2" adjustable one work?

Ratchet tap handles are the best in my opinion. In a tight spot you have an advantage, and everywhere else you dont have to change grip.
