@@amishkumar8457 Average gamers don’t care just look at Wukong and it’s consider game of the year. It’s plays like shit. This is just pc virgins complain it didn’t get 120 fps. And most people say it runs fine
I've been looking forward to Metaphor ReFantazio's arrival and getting an early demo is a nice surprise, BUT Atlus keeps dropping the ball when it comes to the PC port itself and what are some glaring performance issues. It runs like PC game from many years ago and while there are things we can do to improve it, this should not be happening for a product that costs $70. The fact that there's performance issues on console as well is concerning. Hopefully the team can make some improvements before the game launches on October 11th.
PS5 runs good for me, I do notice the framerare fluctuate here and there but it doesn't bother me. I love the art style, but the lack of anti alisaing is odd, hopefully they can dial in the settings a bit more before release. Overall I'm super excited for the full game. I have a beefy pc as well, but I will be skipping that version. It sucks that PC gets another crappy port. Hopefully, they can fix it before the full release.
Both this and Echoes of Wisdom are an indictment of developers refusal to optimise their software properly. What the hell is going on over there in Japan?
I was very disappointed to see the performance on Echoes of Wisdom. Capcom's also dropped the ball, Square PC ports are mediocre. I don't know what's happening with Japanese games performance lately. It's too bad because I like Japanese games, they offer narrative and perspectives we don't get in the West.
@PhotoJohn80 There are a toxic bunch in the community who say it, but I can't see how anyone can not notice it, especially when it's this bad. There are even worse examples, like EA WRC on launch. I have a theory it's developers and shills trying to make people believe it's possibly their system, in order to deflect any blame or repercussion. Which is why even when a game is so obviously terribly optimised, they release statements like 'we have reports of stuttering issues on certain setups.' They absolutely are trying to avoid blame, consequence or extra work. Nvidia and AMD do the same, because it would hurt sales if everyone knew just how bad things are on pc a lot of the time. It's disgusting what these bigger game companies get away with releasing, especially when it comes to the pc community. Maybe there are a few who can't bare to admit it, when their pc cost more than some peoples cars, maybe they refuse to see it, or maybe they are die hard master race delusionals if you will... lol
It does run smoothly for me though. I haven't completed it yet but it runs a hell of a lot better than FF 16 on my 4080. I hate that people are having issues though. The only problem I had was I couldn't exit the demo. I had to use task manager.
Hey I have 3060ti and I get peaks of 80° at 60fps. Bro like wtf I can even play DMC V at 100+ fps at a cooler temp. This game performance is a joke, the game doesn’t even have realistic graphics like come on
I haven't had any crashes on PS5 but played a bit more today and performance gets a bit worse once you embark on your first mission in the castle. It's the opposite of PC
Man I hate RU-vid's recommendation system. I am subscribed yet I never see your videos on my homepage. If it wasnt for Twitter I would never know when you upload videos. Happy to see this fix get more exposure, and this is what I just love about PC gaming. There are almost always mods to fix poor performance. Good video my man! Edit: I 100% agree with you. We have every right to complain if this is the performance out of the box for $70.
Lol same with you. Your video came out a bit before mine and I didn't see it in my notifications or homepage, found out via Twitter after I'd published mine. To be honest though I wouldn't have watched it until after I'd uploaded my video anyway. If I'm working on a video topic I try to not watch other people's content on the same topic, even if I follow them to not be influenced by their research when making mine if that makes sense. I like to compare points made after though.
@@TerraWare Yeah, same here! I will first make my video, upload it and everything, but before making it live I will see if someone else made a video about the same topic just to see if my results are within the margin of what is expected. AN unofficial peer-review if you want to call it that. But only after my video is finished so that I'm not influenced by anything else.
Also want to add, thanks for this video. Mod works so well I went from struggling to get 30fps at literally min graphics, to pushing 180fps at regular.
This is pretty much the norm nowadays, pc ports are usually plagued with frametime issues. Even with the fix it still hitches and stutters quite often, which does not happen on PS5. Until they make things easy for developers, like unifying shaders and making scheduling more efficient at the API and OS level, very few will put the extra hours in to optimize it. It is unacceptable and being a PC gamer myself, the situation gets more frustrating every day. Selling crap in this state should be illegal, as it is essentially faulty goods.
I think this is a developer issue more than it is PC, at least it's how I see it. Even Atlus's own previous ports have been a lot better optimized than this.
@@TerraWare It is definitely a PC issue at some degree, maybe not as much as the developers, but the consoles do not have the frame time issues in almost any games, just lower frame rates, so it is platform specific. Consoles do a good job of making things easy for developers. PC does not unfortunately. This does not mean developers should just give us bad ports, they should put the effort in for sure. The ancient way a pc does things is a hurdle that things like direct storage are trying to address, but adoption is low atm. CPU interrupts and going back and forth through ram is something a console is much more efficiently designed with in mind.
@@djpquickplays1244 Console do make it a bit easier on devs sure. One game I've been particularly interested in is Dragons Dogma 2 on the PS5 Pro was shown to run at around 50 FPS in Vernworth and I tested a sort of PS5 Pro equivalent build looking at the game with a Ryzen 3700X and downclocked 6800Xt and I had some drops to the mid 40's in Vernworth. This game though should be locked 60 no problem at all times on the PS5 at the very least. I almost want to make it to the first boss on the PS5 and test to make sure it doesn't drop below the VRR range. Lowest I saw was 49 FPS.
@TerraWare It does highlight just how much a streamlined design helps, as accessing ram/vram is much faster on a console leading to better cpu performance. The dedicated decompression hardware also takes some work away from the cpu in consoles. It's just so frustrating having a 4080 super with a 14900kf and 32gb ddr5 7200 cl34, and a 990 pro ssd, and seeing stutters that aren't there in the PS5 version of the same game. Ports like God of War, Horizon : Forbidden West and even games like GTA V and Doom: Eternal show that it is possible to have stutter free AAA gaming on PC, but it's a rare privilege these days as games chew through more and more data, the pc just can't move things around fast enough unless the game is coded to only access data when it will not cause interrupts. I prefer a lower frame rate and worse visuals than beautiful visuals and stutters, which is why I own console too, so I can play the bad pc ports there. Here's hoping for the future, now that it's becoming something channels like digital foundry and even yourself are bringing the issue to the light and in some way pressuring developers/publishers to do better. Appreciate the content you provide too, thank you.
Im noticing this on the ps5 demo as well the frame rate isnt game breaking for me at least but its definitely noticeable more so when im running around the map and cutscenes
Yeah the PS5 has these issues and they get worse once you embark on your first mission. I uploaded a clip just now on Twitter. It was dropping below 47 VRR range. Are you using a VRR TV?
@TerraWare yea I'm using a TCL q5 50 inch tv has 120hz vrr good budget gaming tv games like Stellar Blade for example run silky smooth 60fps consistent I used to set it to 120hz when playing games but I found I got a better frame rate when I capped it at 60fps since games olny run at 60fps on ps5 native anyway I'm talking about the setting on my ps5 not tv definitely poor optimization on Atlus part yea the first mission running around the castle feels very choppy desert not so much cut scenes stuttered olny part that was solid was the turn based battles after you stun a enemy olny got as far as beating the first boss in castle but kind of disappointed I was so hyped for this game but even then I still enjoyed it so far but I seriously hope they fix this and made me reconsider buying it day one I'm still 50/50 on it though
Never use in game vsync .. especially if you have Nvidia. Force it from control panel is always better and will give you better frame times when capping with RTSS
on Xbox Series X the game lags a lot and looks like its running at 30-40fps most of the time. I haven't had any crashes yet in 7 hours of playtime so that's good, i guess.
For me it's the other way round. It's the first game in ages that runs really smoothly on my PC. I always have the frame time graph on Rivertuner. There are no fluctuations at all. I'm surprised to see that other people have such problems.
The demo run ok on PS4(not the Pro) just the loading screen animation that lag and the console heat up a bit but it's nothing like the demo of tales of Arise. I did not get any crash of 8h of gameplay
Do people experience something similar to me? when playing the demo in PC the subtitle in the scene appear but the scene doesn’t appear, but after entering the open world I can play the game without any problems, could anybody help me with the issues please so i can enjoy the story of gameplay 😢😂
I literally had no problems, it ran completely fine. I don’t even have a 4K monitor if that tells you anything, so I’m really sad to hear it’s not running well for most people bc my experience was great :)
@paradoxalpictures Some people can be more sensitive to performance issues but the main goal at least on my channel is to point out performance, praise it when good, raise awareness when not for things to get better. After a couple tweaks game's been pretty enjoyable for me too.
Im on ps5 and the game overheated for me. obviously this could just be a me issue, but i've only ever experienced overheating with performance intensive games (certain ff16 eikon battles) . this doesn't look like it should be that performance heavy yet it is. hoping atlus optimizes their game.
I heard on Twitter running the PS4 version on PS5 through backwards compatibility mode results in a 60 FPS experience but I haven't tested this myself.
@TerraWare It wasn't much worse, but PS5 still outperformed it a bit. I asked my son to check on his XSS, and he said that the picture was a little less clear when focusing on far away objects. We'll both be playing on PS5.
Ps5 ran the demo more consistent but i expected more from a $70 game running on an outdated engine that has been in development for 7 years 😑 Beside the performance, the game itself was fantastic
@@_CrimsonBlade You know that the ps4 version running on the ps5 was perfect, right? Also Elden Ring is 60$ and has way more complex mechanics in it compared to Metaphor.
@@date5960 elden ring is 100 if you want the complete story with the dlc, and yea no crap elden rings ps4 version run better on ps5 what ps4 game doesn’t
@@_CrimsonBlade Uhhh...ps4 games that have their framerate capped at 30? Ps5 can't make those better 🤷♂️ Also what makes you think that Metaphor won't have any dlc story? This is Atlus we're talking about 😂. Considering Elden Ring is an old game now, it's often on sale.
A lot of people seem to care, since everyone is refunding the game and screaming on the forums about the port being terrible. For a full price $70 game its pretty inexcusable.
@@Heretomakeyouthink you haven't read anything about it cause you automatically plug your ears and go "lol who cares" when people talk about the issues lmao
