Thanks for bringing Dr Harry Oldmeadow (which before I didn't know, but now I do) and for providing us with this type of conversation that is so rare in social media. ✨✨
I think what makes Guénon’s Reign of Quantity particularly important is that it weds together the topics of metaphysics and eschatology. We can engage in inoffensive and enjoyable discussions about metaphysics all day, and we can listen to more orthodox religious types give stern warnings of the tribulations to come under Antichrist/Dajjal, but there are very few who are willing or able to connect those two as Guénon did, much less with respect to current events. Charles Upton is the main writer I am aware of who’s picked up where Guénon left off in that regard.
You know when you speak to generations they all find it very hard to have a conversation about money and ideology as they all grew up in different times and yet your educational institutions pitch how important a flexible and adaptable mind without any fkn change in the system
Perhaps you can help me. I understand that there exists a perennial philosophy that underlies all authentic traditions and that these traditions represent the perennial philosophy to varying extents. For example, Guenon privileged the Advaita Vedanta interpretation of Hinduism. Almost all major Traditionalists became Sufi Muslims, which shows that they also privileged Sufism. I've been reading Evola's book on Hermeticism and his books on magic. Unfortunately Guenon and Schuon never wrote a guide to achieve transcendence. Yes, there probably exists many paths that correspond to the different natures in people. But I want to know to what extent is Evola right and if his books on magic are safe. Should I move to Japan and become a Shingon Buddhist?
Neither would’ve written such a guide or recommended one, since both held the view that a proper initiation was required to guide a man. With that said I have found that working through Schuon’s works especially do a great deal for sharpening one’s spiritual acumen. As far as what spiritual practice you wind up in, that has to be your decision.
Metapysics??? and Metaphysic !!!! Questions after every question???? , , , and then ritual that is certain rituals so that man somehow deals and some how supersedes the end result of mortal existence!!!!.
Great interview! I appreciate your work and focus on this topic. I personally prefer Coomaraswamy’s writings. His body of work is unbelievable. Thanks again!
