Deus Ex Machina to me, seemed lazy. I enjoyed it for what it was, writing was good from a dialogue and sequencing standpoint- but the device itself was laaaaazy.

@@crowevil4658 Who's actually being _saved_ here for this to be called a Deus Ex Machina? This plot point makes sense. The time traveler cheats Hermes's wager. He needs proof of hope that things really can be averted for Elpis and Etheirys through their own means and knowledge as well as if it would happen to them at all.

@@D-Havoc lol D stand for “Dr?” DXM is basically a seemingly unsolvable problem in a story is suddenly and abruptly resolved by an unlikely and unexpected occurrence. The problem here is two fold, you have closed loop time travel (also lazy writing) and resolving the issue of you disclosing future events to Venat, Hyth, and Hades. Xeno even questions how this was possible. Xeno also questioned how Hermes had the strength to cast after we beat him down. The writers put themselves into a hole. They opted for lazy… Enter Kairos and the diversion plus … memory loss? No one has to be saved. A story just needs a seemingly unsolvable problem, in this case a literal writing trap - a risk when writing closed loop time travel (again also lazy and doesn’t make too much sense when you think too hard on it). But all of this has to occur so, not only for the plot to continue, but so Meteion can be stopped. Which if you have to go with save, the Elpis flower, summon your dead friends is right on the money by your definition. You see, the writers for EW are very lazy and trap themselves when writing, and instead of taking more time to flush it out, they go with easy.

I disagree. Deus Ex Machina isn't inherently bad. Kairos was set up from the start. It was Chekhov's gun; seemingly insignificant but playing an important role at the end.

You hear about other worlds and people that suffered from the Final Days, during some of the Endwalker patch content. It seems as if other worlds died as a result of Meteion's song, yes. Venat's walk was metaphorical, I assumed, same as the memory before it.

I blame the game, they build up the ancients as a race of so much superior people and here comes Hermes and do everything wrong because he is so selfish and delusional. I`m unable to tank the fact that we suffered so much, had so many fucking problems with primals and ascians just because he was so stupid and delusional with his own imperatives. Meteion also sucks, anyone can see she is unfit for her role and it will become a terrible mistake sooner or later. In my opinion endwalker had the worst story so far.

@@nabugo This is what happens when you grow up watching dragonball z and not dabbling in classic fiction. Endwalker is a love letter to old 60's sci fi and the untapped depths of existential psychology that went with it.
