It's not sporadic-E season, and you don't have big antennas. Is long distance VHF communication without repeaters or satellites possible? Yes it is. With meteor scatter and new modes like MSK144. FInd out more here as I do a receiving test with simple wire antennas on 6m!

Watched a presentation by Kevin VK4UH just the other night on Meteor Scatter. A very interesting mode of operation that I'd be keen to try. He did say for 2m about an 8 element beam is a good compromise between too much and not enough gain. Only seeing this now as RU-vid decided to put it in my recommended feed.

Peter there are over 26 meteor showers we enjoy during the year. Some are excellent with some high ZHR (zenith hour rates) which is another way of saying how many meteors we see within an hour period. The best times are between 0100am-0500am, this is due when the earth rotates into the path of the debris. Paul vk3da

Wonderful video mate! This is very well done. I’m looking for a video that will help beginners in ham radio because my podcast is about helping people to get into our hobby. I’d be honored to use this video for an upcoming show devoted to meteor scatter. I’ll Credit you and your channel in the description section so people can find your channel here on RU-vid. Please let me know if you have any problem with me using this video to share with others. Please let me know if there’s a problem using it on the show. I’ll make sure and credit your channel and put a link to it in the description section. Again mate, this is a wonderful video. I like the fact of how you described that using different bands can give you better results. That’s true and it’s something that many other videos don’t share. Well done on this one mate! All the best to you and yours, Larry de K7HN
