Be very very careful walking through the Arizona desert with EAR PHONES. You won’t here the RATTLESNAKE when it RATTLES. All treasures are protected by some kind of beast
The headphones I use you can hear rattlesnake if it’s not too windy and if it is windy I always cock one side of the headphones off so I can hear and I wear snake chaps but yes got to watch out for the snakes Thanks for watching
I found a meteorite that is really big but it doesn't attract metal is it a real meteorite do some of them not attract metal. And I've got one that's nickel colored and round and very heavy it's but it's small it's a sphere colored meteorites been found
You got to get out there and hunt for it you never know what you might find. I’ve read that if you didn’t hear a sonic boom you’re not within 60 miles of it.
I saw an awesome meteor fly in glowing green and blue. I could have sworn it landed a mile from my location. Actually landed in Canada and struck a mobile home catching it on fire. Happened to be almost 200 miles from the area I thought it landed.
Excellent video! Found one myself while out hiking west of Tucson; we stopped to take a break and sat down in the only shade there was, from a great big saguaro, and I put my hand on the ground in the shade and felt something a LOT cooler than everything else right under my palm. And there was this one really black rock about the size of half a large walnut in the middle of a bunch of cream and red and tan... There's no iron ore or iron mine tailings anywhere even close, it's very magnetic, it has a faint glitter to it and it's got the 'shield' shape and surface on one side, so... guess I found one. Weird way to do it, but metal conducts differently than all those non-metal rocks. I hunted around but didn't have any equipment so I didn't find any more. But there is a weird thrill that goes right through you when you realize what you have, isn't there? And knowing that you're probably the first and only person to ever see that stone for what it is...
That’s very cool and I know what you mean it is so neat when you find one. If you have any questions on it you can always file a little window into the side of the rock to see if you can see nickel iron flakes or chondrules. Thanks for watching
Mike, how much did those little guys yield as far as spot price? what advice do you have for newbie hunters but advanced in metal detecting? im on victorville, ca alot of desert here and i know that meteorites can land anywhere, but where can i start around here?
If you’re in Victorville, there’s a lot of dry lake beds around you. I would get out there and touch some rocks with a magnet. As far as price, I haven’t looked them up in quite a while. Don’t know what the market is for them right now sometimes more than gold though.
Tip for 5:43 A metal detector is not a magnet. Using it rotated you decrease completely its sensitivity. It must always be flat, parallel to the ground.
Yes, a metal detector is not a magnet. I have used the front of my Joey coil thousands of times to pinpoint. Definitely not as sensitive but you can use it to help you pinpoint. Thanks for watching.
You are correct meteors land where they land. So they can be anywhere but once you find one keep looking in that particular spot and you’ll probably find more. Thanks for watching
what size coil do you use, i was looking into coil size and am looking at a 15 by 17 inch size one for the one i might buy? i just learned the bigger one you get the further it will go down? and 3 feet is pretty deep for finding something you said you found on other comment, that is pretty good, i want one that goes deep cause some meteorites dig into the ground when they hit, or if they hit many years ago the earth might of covered them up more
There are so many variables The size of the target the ground that you’re in, but yeah the bigger the coil the deeper it will go. A smaller coil like a 6 x 9 can get you in between rocks and bushes that a big coil can’t so there’s a trade-off.
Did you go to an Area around or Near the meteorite crater in Arizona? I live in Durango and have recently ben bitten by the bug lols I want to go to the crater and look around but I know the crater itself is privately owned, but I dont know about the surrounding lands. Would you be willing to impart on any information about what is public and what isnt around and near the crater, I too would love to find my first meteorite!
From what I know it’s all private land around meteor creator and you must get permission from the landowner to hunt. I think one of the ranches back in the 80s or 90s let people hunt but they stop letting people, because they weren’t filling in the holes and I guess there cows were tripping in it just something I heard could be true or not. But yeah around meteor crater you must have permission and I don’t think they give it out, but you could always ask. Thanks for watching
I just go up there and start hunting, I believe it’s BLM land but I’ve been told you cannot park next to or go over the railroad tracks with your vehicleI because I think the railroad is private property, not 100% sure about that though. Thanks for watching
Hi can I email you a rock I found a few years ago on a beach it was black n shiny spots ,magnetic It stood out on whiteish sand. Maybe you can confirm what i found?
Because where I parked my truck is not in the known strewn field. There could be a random meteorite there, but way better odds of finding one in the known strewn field.
Not sure I’ve never used either one of those machines. But I know White’s is a good machine I own a couple. Maybe someone that have used both those machines can chime in and let you know. Thanks for watching
It all depends on what classification the meteorite is, and how rare they are the ones I found in this video last time I looked were like two dollars a gram. Thanks for watching
@@huntingeverythingwithmikem3458 I don't know how rare. But have the silvery shiny crosspatch design when we sliced a piece off. My husband has about 20lbs. From softball size to way smaller pieces. Believe they are iron & nickel composition
I got my metal detector, i got a Garrett AT Pro, n i am hunting meteorites in flagstaff az in the woods Only went out a few times so far, now i know how to use it better, also i learned that using a large pick is the best thing to do when having to dig things up, even though it is heavier n bigger to carry around, it is worth it, i think i got the ideal from you watching your videos What settings do you put your metal detector on when hunting meteorites, what do you put the iron sensitivity on?
That’s awesome the AT Pro is a good all around detector. I don’t have one but I have a buddy that uses one , I would definitely keep it in all metal mode and do not discriminate any metal out. Because meteorites have nickel iron in them. This does mean you will dig a lot of trash but that’s just how the game is played. Good luck out there and happy hunting.
There’s a lot of variables when deciding a metal detector to get for meteorites what area are you looking in how hot is the ground, what type of meter rates are you looking for. Solid nickel iron or stony meteorites like my video. If you’re in quiet ground and searching for nickel iron meteorites a cheap old RadioShack. Metal detector will work. Might want to look for like a Garrett AT pro. They can find meteorites and also cool coins and jewelry and are waterproof. You can probably pick up a used one some what cheap because people always like to upgrade when new ones come out. Thanks for watching
what do you think of my chances are finding one or more rare ones,or maybe somewhat rare, like ones that are in the pounds range? now i got Jesus on my side, i serve Jesus, i heard from this one place that the spirits guard the treasures in and on the earth, now i don't serve evil anymore so i won't be trying to get the demons help on finding them, but this time i will get the angels help if God is willing i am a very spiritual person, the spirits are involved in everything else the human race does, so they might as well be involved with this as well
Well I can tell you your chances are zero if you don’t get out and try, so get out there and try if God deems it necessary for you to find one you will. Good luck.
I use a minelab 3000. I think it came out in 2003, great Machine. I think you can pick up a used one for probably under 1000.00 buck. I have Buddy who uses a minelab SD 2200 and loves it. It and came out in 1998. Might can pick up a used one for $500 bucks.
@@huntingeverythingwithmikem3458 what is the biggest meteorite you found, and where do you go to find out how much they are worth, i am thinking about getting into this, i heard you can rent one of those machines to tell what you got but it cost like 1200 to rent, i also heard about some people going to the meteorite person at a college and sometimes they will check what you got for free? and what is the deepest one you found, how deep does your metal detector go to find them?
To Find out how much a meteorite is worth it Hass to be classified. You can have very rare some what rare or common, Will reflect the price. Some colleges will classify your meter right but they will take 20% of that meteorite. And most the time is too busy or backed up to look at them.
