I've just realized this whole album is a lot funnier if you imagine that the protagonist isnt being possessed by demons but instead being overdramatic about being at the dentist.
This album is like if celldweller infant annihilator, worm rot, shrine of malice and stab had a plague infested love child that was more powerful than all of them.
Idk... this album is Terrifying yea but they're drummer ain't shit which loses me instantly.. I clicked at random spots in the album and its literally just obscure noise and the same repetitive ass snare. Dutdutdutdutdutdutdutdutdutdutdut Gauy
@@HiFlyke it's a one man project, not a full band. And I highly recommend you listen through the entire album before judging it; while several songs are very chaotic (per usual for Methwitch), others (specifically Spiral, Ashen, and Exhale/Last Breath) are much more approachable for a casual listener.
After reading this comment thread I lowkey wonder what it would be like with Aaron Kitcher (infant annihilator drummer) instead of the drum programming. Love the music though.
In Corey Taylor's book Seven Deadly Sins he talked about the three levels of musicians. Level one is someone who listens to top 40's. Level two is people who listen to good music. Level three is someone with a vision that creates the music they want to listen to. Methwitch is the perfect example of someone executing a vision. Can't give this album enough praise.
Ive listened to probably hundreds of thousands of hours of music in my lifetime, and I gotta say; After giving this album a listen, im astonished. This Is the absolute apex of what can be achieved when one sets out to create something truly dark, heavy, cryptic, yet also interesting and somehow... cathartic. Even the most psychotic parts of songs, of which if I had heard other bands attempt, would probably steer me away from further listening, Methwitch has perfected and twisted into a formula that is as slammingly listenable as can be. Ive never heard an album cross so many parallels of means of creating enjoyable listening. I found myself having to take a deep breath after each song ended, because the yearning of hearing what could possibly happen next each second kept me holding my breath. Very rarely do I listen to anything this heavy anymore, but I am absolutely glad I have been drawn here. When the gang vox and the more conventionally distorted guitars hit in the title track, I found myself unable to remain still, it was as if chains had been lifted off of me from the horror of the previous parts of the songs and I was set free into right into haunted prison yard brawl from hell. The vocals are absolutely abominable, ranging from traditional cleans all the way to literal screaming for the end of his life, its a fucking roller coaster. One of which I didnt depart from until sadly, the album was over, and here I am now. Guess ill play some video games.... or jerk off, or whatever regular humans do... I dont have any idea any more after hearing this shit. This album sounds like what Silent Hill should sound like when it transforms into Alyssas nightmares.
I would, no cap, throw myself in front of a bullet for Cam to make another MW album. I absolutely fucking adore the man's work. I make a living from music professionally and this literally makes me want to quit trying to make "challenging" music. This is indeed one of the greatest albums of my generation.
Cameron, dude, you need to chill out. If you continue to release only bangers, how are other bands supposed to live up to the astronomical standards you set.
Ashen just blew my mind! The genres blended in this track are insane. Then that solo that comes out of nowhere was soooo fucking tasteful and groovy!!!
I've listed to metal for 30 years now. I've hosted radio shows and done extreme music criticism for a living. This is a magnus opus for metal. It's as much of a genre defining moment as Pierced From Within. While sounding nothing similar, it stands on the shoulders of two giants named Deep Purple's Machine Head and Slayer's Reign in Blood- meaning that this album can, and should, be mined for everything it's worth to propel metal into its next iteration. I hope I live another 30 years to hear what those influenced by this create.
i think this album actually made a lasting impact on my mental health and is moving me closer to being diagnosably insane incredibly well-made album i'm gonna go have hallucinations about it
Alright after listening to this twice I can't even fathom the amount of subgenre melding thats gone on here. Its truly fucking wild to mix two things together to make something special but to discard the rule book and take something from tons of heavy sub genres and make them work in such a fucking outstanding way is insane. God tier even. This will be my album of the year, Nothing with come close. All hail the plague doctor.
The last time I heard something so existentialy and sonicaly disturbing was when I checked The Caretaker's Everywhere At The End Of Time. This is some fine art, complete with great vocals and very cool instrumental
This is one of the best albums of the last ten years, maybe even more, without a single doubt. A beautiful blend of chaos, insanity and melody. I especially love the tracks with the clean vocals. Those are just.... I can't even begin to describe how good they are and how much those vocals add to the tracks. Great job Cameron, you have managed to create one of the best albums in the last ten years. Keep it up.
@@methwitch3412 Cameron is there anything in the works for some future material? Also will there ever be a formed touring band in the forseeable? This world needs to be introduced to darkness and evil bro...bring that shit to AZ!
@@ghoste1138 i’ve never been one to hate smart cleans. If they have a purpose and aren’t arbitrary then they often work in of themselves I wish more artists (like ERRA) used cleans and uncleans at the sametime cause to me that increases the intensity even more
Popping back after snagging it on bandcamp and listening to the FLACs. Just wanna say this is easily my favorite Methwitch album yet, and that ending track was fucking beautiful. Thank you for this masterpiece.
Yesterday my roommate asked me "hey you remember that band Methwitch I showed you a few years back?" To which I replied vaguely remembering them. After listening to this album I'm definitely not going to forget now. Great job Cam. It's such a chaotically beautiful body of work. I really enjoy the clean vocals for once
This man's highs are higher than a dog whistle, he incorporated a life or death coughing fit into the vocals. 13/10 insanity every second for 57 minutes. Fully understand why /r/deathcore could simply call this "unhinged". I respect it.
Bro fr. Not many solo projects or even bands are as unique as this. You've created your own genre dude I swear you don't find stuff like this often. You are really and amazing artist and a voice for the undeground metal. Keep it up man, you are fucking insane ❤︎🤘 Pd: You are pure genius man
i found this album around a year ago and still havent found a single song that sounds anything like this. i usually find something similar but this is just one of a kind. definitely fair to say it is its own genre.
Yo Cameron, I don't know what kind of dark magic you invoke but you manage to up the ante with each and every release. You drop one and I think... _"this is it, music cannot go any harder or more insane than this, we have reached the limit"_ and then you drop the next one and it just obliterates time and space. Endless thanks and salutations for your work, this hour of music will keep me sane during lockdown for weeks to come. Stay safe out there, my dude. \,,/
I come back to this album damn near everyday. It's the only thing that seems to help me feel anything at all. For nearly 2 years straight now I've been inspired not only through this album, but through Cameron himself. Truly an inspiration to a young schizophrenic metal head. Thank you Mr. Mcbride for your incredible work.
Ashen strikes someth in me. The deep melancholic clean voice akin to the early 2000's, the chorus and the choir at the end always get me emotional man. You created someth amazing!
This album is a fucking ride from beginning to end. I usually listen to some heavy shit but there are songs in here that genuinely unnerved me and surprised me. I listened to this shit in a dark room and felt like I was losing my mind. I recommend the experience. Good fucking job to Methwitch man. You've put together a masterpiece of horror here.
I don't use this word lightly, but this album is a masterpiece. I heard it for the first time a few days ago and haven't been able to stop listening to it since. The only other thing that comes close recently is battle of yaldabaoth, but for different reasons this album stands out on a similar level. Easily one of the best releases from the last 5 years. the levels of chaos, heaviness, and genuine passion here are unmatched. releases like this make everything else irrelevant.
listening to this album feels similar to watching a trainwreck and not being able to look away from it. It's brutal, horrific, yet undeniably fascinating. Good work!
Hoooooollllly shit dude, this album is awesome. I was surprised when the clean vocals turned up but they made the latter half of the album so much better. This was amazing - please never stop releasing music!
Unfortunately, I only recently discovered this album for myself and at the very first listening, the tears did not let me go, for the first time I heard what I always felt and sought ... this pressure, excitement causes a genuine catharsis. Great job, thanks for making this💀
Wow. Just wow. I must say, youve been on my radar for a while. Not sure what happened, but i do remember the name methwitch sounding cool as shit. So if i had to gues(def pre indwell) my first impression was "yeah feels like slam" then i just wrote it off. But my god, im glad i came back. When i pulled this album up last weekend, my first impression was terror. Followed by "absolutely not, theres no way i can listen to this" but those god awfull shreaks stuck with me, drew me in if you will. And reading the comments and what everyone was saying peaked my intrest. So i went back for a few more songs. Started hearing how amazing this is. I finally listened to it last night(after listeing to rotting away and piss) Piss i started hearing more shreaks, and i loved it. Along with new elements, that wernt there in your debut. Saying this, i actually JUST finnished piss, and i loved it. Fantastic work. But after finally finnishing indwell last night, im ABSOLUTELY blown away. Every sonf had me laughing and saying out loud "holy shit!!" Especially hearing the cleans closer to the end of the album. Then the final track i was like "bro you gotta be fucking kidding me" it was beautiful, but also heavy and dark. Once it was over i gave a solo round of aplause, and bowed to the speaker. Fucking bravo my dude!!! Jesus fuck. This album is an absolute masterpiece. Im looking forward to hearing your next release!!! Keep it brother. HELL yeah!!! 🖤🤘
This is so fucking good, absolutely my album of the year, nothing else compares. I really haven't been able to find this sound anywhere else and I swear it's the sound I've been looking for my entire life, I love how it gets so incredibly chaotic and complex that it borders on noise music. Completely unique sound that just gets better and better, if there's a bad song on this album I sure as hell can't find it.
This is wild. I've never heard anything like this before. It's unapologetically weird for a deathcore release, and I love it. Deathcore has needed some experimentation for a while now, and goddamn if Methwitch didn't bring it. Fuck yes.
Without a doubt one of the most insane albums I've ever heard. It's as if Car Bomb and Fear Factory had a crack addicted mutant baby. This shit is going on my workout playlist.
This album came out in April and it dominated my Spotify "Top Songs of 2020" Playlist. Can't get enough of MW and I can't wait to hear more in the future.
This touches on so many facets of music that I love. Nebulous in genre, unforgiving in sound, surprising in direction and encapsulated in a chaotic, desolate ambience. Extraordinary album. Truly unique, high-caliber art that demands one's undivided attention. Thank you for all that you do. Is there somewhere we can scope the lyrics?
Im feeling like absolute crap lately and this was the end of me. The feels this work can give to us who find brutally dark music relaxing is incredible. Its an amazing work and an experience on its onw listeting to this. Unsetttling, disturbing, constant punching to your head softly enough to make you able to keep listening, and to want to keep listenting. This is an unique piece
This Album is pure gold. The last song is quiet interesting and I really would like to hear more of that style cause this sounds hella sick! Keep up that good work. Yezzzsiir!
This and Immortal are definitely my favourite albums of 2020 so far! Been hyped since Brimstone Heart was released in 2018 and was supporting Indwell on Instagram during then and finally listening to it in the end was worth the wait! Loved Brimstone Heart, Teeth Like Nails, Burn Victim, Bed Full of Snakes and Indwell along with the rest but Exhale (Last Breath) was my absolute fave and the most effective one for me! Major Spook and Major brutality, Thx so much, Cameron for this monumental piece within this journey. \m/
Woah! It has been ages since i have truly been blown away by an album! Methwitch creates sonic expulsions of the most blistering, malevolent and unnerving kind. This is malevolence as an assault vehicle! What an insane confluence of sounds; savage synapse scorching stuff. Cameron Mcbride is a truly skilled and idiosyncratic iconoclast! Genres bleed into each other with rapidity and ravenous intent. In the blink of an eye sub genres coalesce into an unholy incineration chamber!
Somewhere between The Acacia Strain, Dillinger Escape Plan, The Locust, Ion Dissonance, Ken Mode, Black Tongue, Magrudergrind, Iwrestledabearonce, Arsonists Get All The Girls, punk elements, and black metal elements. Everything I enjoy in a melting pot. It's fucking sick. Bed Full of Snakes gave me fucking chills. Ashen was a nice call that many in the genre wouldn't have the balls to do. The bitcrushing stuff was a great touch, like a darker Slipknot style. Mix is great. This album is a one stop shop. Great fucking work.
This album is awesome. There is variety in this album that a lot of people aren't used to hearing. You showcase your skill and love for music on this album. I never heard of you until a few days ago. And now I'm already comparing your vocal skills to greats like CJ Mcmahon and Mitch Lucker. Those whistle pitch screams are amazing and terrifying. Burn Victim was the first song I heard off the album and I got goose bumps. The whistle pitch screams sound like a women screaming in a horror movie. It's great.
Played from 4:45 a.m. to 5:40 whilst reading the lyrics. Just discovered your music dude but after I heard burn victim I had to take my headphones because I needed to know more. This work is beautiful. Your vocals astonishing. As a amateur metal singer I'll start practicing your techniques. I dare to say this is revolutionary.
I'm a bit late to the party, but I just had this album recommended to me tonight, and just, wow... I'm not even exactly sure how to feel, but for pure uniqueness and pure insanity, I have to give you mad props. I can tell a ridiculous amount of work went into this, and as others have said, this is horrifying, in kind of a good way. I feel more inclined to say that it was an experience than just a "good/great album", and I think that truly means you did something special.
I'm so glad big chef new albums comment section brought me to this band. This band is amazing keep up the amazing work! I cant wait to add this album to my collection!
My buddy sent this to me and said "here's some shit that'll melt your soul" and god damn did this album deliver. I've already listened to it 5 times back to back since yesterday. The fact that such a cohesive and realized album slipped right by me for months made me wanna do more research and after discovering this is all done by one person I think that makes this even more impressive as there's a clear vision for this album that's perfectly done. And god damn the sheer amount of range he has is unlike anything I've seen in metal for a long time. After diving into his older albums I'm now seeing I was really missing out for like half a decade. Now that I've got the 4 LPs on a playlist I know what I'll be jamming to nonstop now. Great stuff! My favorite album of 2020
