Something turned on my green eyes gene since my eyes were always brown and are changing to green. Either my caveman diet ,working outside or supplement stack.
Dear Dr. Lewis, I loved your video. You're so precise and authentic. Everything you say resonates. Thank you for the incredible knowledge and for making everything easy to understand 🙏 I have a question please. I'm currently in Greece looking to do a genetic methylation test. I found a clinic that tests for about 60 markers and they said the results are interpreted by a qualified microbiologist doctor. So do I need to ask anything before I proceed with tests or am I covered just by the amount of genes that are tested and the interpretation of the data? Is there anything else I should be asking? Thank you very much. All the best.
@@dr.robinlewis Hello Dr Robin, your videos are excellent! Would you know of any practitioners here in the U.K. by chance? I have done my 23andMe. Thank you so much.
@@thesilverone94 thank you so much! Unfortunately I don’t know of any but I do know naturopathic doctors aren’t a thing so you would likely have to find a functional medicine doctor to interpret the results!
A homocysteine blood test is by far cheaper and easier than a DNA test, and actually shows if any DNA polymorphisms are causing a methylation cycle dysfunction. If homocysteine is raised then it's time to get a DNA test to see why. Mine was at 48 umol/L when I required my first coronary artery stent. Now due to Hyperhomocysteinemia Accelerated Atherosclerosis I've required six more angiograms and 5 more stents in just the past four years.
Yes, that is mostly correct. Having the MTHFR gene mutation or other genetic methylation issues does not guarantee you will have a problem with homocysteine and the only way to confirm it’s a current problem is a blood test.
Hi, Dr. Lewis! Your information and breakdown was extremely helpful. I found that anytime I take choline supplements (CDP-Choline and/or huperzine-a) or even just eating eggs I get depressed and have no motivation to do anything. The same happens when I take l methionine. I recently found some information online (there isn’t much about it though) about others that have similar responses and one person commented that it is likely caused by a MTHFR methylation issue. I went back and looked at my results and sure enough, I have the C677T variant. Are you familiar with why this is? How does choline interact with the methylation cycle and what could potentially cause this uncommon reaction?
I also have the C667T variant and have had all sorts of problems with energy and lethargy. I eat eggs every single day for breakfast and it never occurred to me that the eggs could be causing this problem. I thought those of us with methylation deficiency are supposed to do better by supplementing choline and methionine. Maybe I'll cut them out and see if there's a difference, but I would love to hear any input you have on this, Dr. Lewis. And @bigchungus6958 if you could link to any discussions of this you think would be informative, I would greatly appreciate it!
Thank you very much for sharing so much knowledge Dr. Lewis. I’m not a doctor. I’m an engineer from Chile and I started spending more time researching after my mom was diagnosed with ALS. What you explained made a lot of sense. My mom started getting the symptoms after going through a lot of stress. After dealing with my dad being diagnosed with prostate cancer (now he is in great health conditions), after my grandmother going through dementia and my mom was the only person taking care of her, after stop working, moving to a new house, etc. I’ve watched many videos of the ALS reversal cases and one of them Mark Manchester was describing how he got better by getting different supplements. I would love to hear from you if you have some experience with patients with ALS. Regarding to DNA testing, what you recommend, and supplements, what to consider for sure and what to avoid. I would love you to live in Chile. I know you would be able to help my mom. I thank you again for being a real doctor. For seeing the body as a whole.
I was recommended to take this from my Dr and I got some off Amazon. Been taking it for a month and everything is worse. Less sleep, heavily nauseous even with food, mood became irritable, didnt want to eat, fatigued badly. It did the opposite on me.
Hello Robin. Thank you for very informative video. There are privat clinics in my country where testing can be made but on the list are different genes which they are focusing at. Yes, all on them have MTHFR but that is where the similarities end. Am i correct that MTHFR, COMT, MTRR, MTR and AHCY are the main ones? Which ones you would add to the list? Thank you for your time.
Dr. Robin, Any reputable companies you could recommend for a methylation genetic test outside out Brecka's? It's just a tad steep pricewise. I've seen others and they dont seem like the same format (i.e. lifednas and stride's methylated gene test). Great video. Thank you.
@@tippyhadroncollider I never had the test done and I moved the following month. I am participating in a blood study Mark Hyman set up with Quest Labs. Everything looked great but my homocysteine levels were very high despite the fact I did everything to lower them. They did not make a diagnosis but they did make recommendations and one of them was a premethylated supplement of B12, folate, B6 that contains other vitamins, minerals and nutrients and I feel quite a bit better on top of feeling pretty good before hand. It's a supplement made by LivingGood Daily called Basics. Look it up. They weren't much more expensive and anyone can take them. They worked with me and extended my second round to October. I do plan to be tested because I have children as well as grandchildren and odds are some or all are effected. I don't think Quest does this testing so it has go to be being sent to another lab. I'll ask. In the meantime Gary Brecka is promoting the lab he works with. Look him up as well. I think this this may be a pretty common issue. There are supposed to be five genes responsible for methylation and it's probably best all five are tested. Good luck! How are things in Bosnia?
Hi Dr. Robin, I enjoyed your video's on this testing. I had the MTHFR genetic blood test done from my PCP about 4 weeks ago. I've been a wreck my whole life and I had to get this testing done. RESULT: POSITIVE FOR TWO COPIES OF THE A1298C VARIANT. My PCP that is an MD isn't familiar with this test and told me I needed to find someone else to explain the results. I am in Arkansas and have contacted five Naturopathic doctors according to google, and they can't explain anything about the results or who could help me. What other type of doctor is knowledgeable in this area to help me figure this out so I can get my son tested?
Hey, thanks for the watch :) That’s frustrating that even the local NDs are up to date on this. I know that some chiropractors or osteopathic doctors can be knowledgeable as well, but definitely check ahead of time as many aren’t. I hope you find someone! This is such a common issue
