Ive fished the metolious my whole life. Its definitely one of those places where the 90/10 rule is in effect. 10% of fly fishers there catch 90% of the fish. More like 95/5.
@prolificnorthwest very difficult river. Half the difficulty is knowing where to fish. It's not like every hole in that river has fish. They are in certain spots for sure. Once you got that covered then you still have to hook them!
@prolificnorthwest that's why I don't fish there anymore. I caught a 16 lb bull trout on my last trip and it will never be topped. So I called it good on the river and avoid central oregon all together these days. I live and guide In NE oregon where we have the fish and no people
@@adventurfly879 yeah, you can't top that! I love fishing in NE Oregon! As you know, there is some amazing water....and yeah, barely any other people around. Cheers and tight lines!
I moved to Bend in 1979 and lived there through the early 80’s. I crawled all over those lava beds and ran the shores of the Deschutes. I loved the Metolious!
That was awesome Sean! I love that river so much spent many days and nights working that river :) didn’t get a chance to make it out this year but this video gave me that slight fix I needed! Cheers and fish on man! 🍻
Yeah that's a super fun one. The fish seem to love those big bugs. Mine is the later Green Drake hatch. I missed it this year, but will be out there for it next year for sure!
