What is amazing is the Engineer's ability/skill to judge the distance to come to a complete stop in the destination station without overshooting or undershooting the rail-end bumper. Wow. Respect. rocket
That 3rd rail between Berkeley and Maywood is a major help as that line was the heaviest used line for freight on the Metra system. The Burlington Northern had 3 tracks all the way to ATC (Aurora Transportation Center)

Seems I started something with these complete Elburn to Chicago RFW’s. You had much better lighting all the way unlike mine. I was staying in a motel in the area so I had the disadvantage of starting East from Elburn in the morning when the sun was in my face. I stopped in West Chicago and waited until the sun angle was better to continue. I did get the Katy heritage unit though
@@oct197. Elburn is a nice town. I enjoyed it. Seems like a relaxing place. Unfortunately, being from Long Island, it’s kind of hard to go out there on a regular basis to do these.
@@3985uprr I grew up in the area and when the extension to Elburn was made I wasn't sure what to think of it even if it added 20 minutes on to the trip especially with no transportation west of Geneva
It seems to me that the constant ringing of the bell must be very annoying for both passengers and residents of the houses along the railroad. This is one of those old railroad traditions that should have been abandoned long ago.
The reason why they're going to have the bell ring when they come to the crosswalk or a sidewalk or driveway is that idiots will try to go around them cause an accident that's why we're going to have it personally I believe that they should have a police officer be at every stop please don't want to do anything anyway they just sit there and mind their own little business and when someone goes around the trash play excited and ticket
It's a place where they can hold for rush hour or park if there's no room available yet where they're going. They do it there because they are not blocking any crossings.
