I’ve started watching you very recently and I race IMCA stock cars at one local track and never really move around. I got my ride height set to B&Bs numbers and I’m running 200lb springs in the rear. RR 13” and LR16”, I’ve never used a load stick but I do scale it maybe twice a year to make sure I have at least 48% bite and a 49 cross. But most of what I do to the car is a guessing game. Just wanted to say, I’ve learned a ton just from watching 2 of your videos. I also now know how to use my old man’s load stick that he got as a gift and has yet to touch😂. I love that you’re showing everything and how to set it, most people don’t want people know what color their frame is, let alone all their suspension setups. Love what you’re doing man, keep it up! Racers need help!

The video I’ve waited for since the beginning 😂 and I watched it after the first race video because I got sidetracked. But MAN. It is amazing how close we are. Of course you know the differences in a FS but the way I can check these things that you showed we are very very close down to the loads on the wheels. Left, rear, bite and ride heights are SUPER close I mean rear we are dead even front I’m off a 1/4 on each side. Everybody here loves that 250-300 pound bite number and I’ve tried til I’m blew in the face to help I’m glad to see me so close to the Duke 💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼

Fast Minds think alike LOL! I am going back on the scales this week and working on those heights and chains. I'm close but putting just a taste more drive in her.

Hey Jason. Haven't been in tune with your videos lately. Beautiful car. Your knowledge on setups blows me away. "Street Stocks" are lghtyears ahead of the stuff we built and ran. I can't imagine knowing what you know and doing it to our old cars back in the day. As Always, thanks for your videos Jason. Will be following you more.

Been fun to follow this build. I helped a friend build a Ford Ranger based mini stock back from the junkyard to the race track in 2001 and I don’t think people realize all the work involved.

18:14 yeah I thought I had two inch scale pads too the other week and I was chasing my tail in a circle trying to figure out why my ride heights were so far off… I had 3” tall scales 😂

Free on gas is my prediction! Tight off gas, unless you’re on 3 wheel brake in which case you’ll be able to use the left front as an 800# boat anchor. Curious to see what happens!

What would a higher cross percentage do? Iv never really looked at cross percent but starting to think i should
@DIRTRACELIFE
@DIRTRACELIFE 3 месяца назад
I don't chase a particular cross percentage number and instead focus on the left rear bite number. I view it as the result of adjusting the car to have the left side percentage we want and then adjusting the wedge to get the bite or preload that makes sense. For example if you only have 51% to 52% left side in the car and want to have 180lbs of LR bite then you would end up with over 51% cross but if I raise that left percentage to to 54% that same LR bite # would likely be around 49% cross. Did I change the cross? Yes I did of course to set that bite number but really I was just adjusting the bite back to 180 because I had physically moved weight to the left raising the left side %. The point is you shouldn't chase an exact number for both cross and bite at the same time because they are interrelated. Thats why I don't actually care what the cross is. I show it but what I really care about is the 54% rear and 54% left with the correct preload in the springs (which is part of my LR bite). To specifically answer your question, in general raising cross % will always loosen a car during deceleration and tighten a car during acceleration.

WHat is the flat black peice going to the dash? what did you use? looks almost like a cowl hood scoop?
@DIRTRACELIFE
@DIRTRACELIFE 3 месяца назад
Thats just a plastic hood cowl for an 05-09 mustang. I wanted something a bit lower and just enough to cover what I needed. Here is the link to the one I bought amzn.to/3zbUPr8
