I thought the most anxiety inducing one was the final stretch in the 4Th area. Being by yourself and on a time limit because of filters with radiation everywhere and giant MUTANT GORILLAS is terrifying.
First time I played I lost duke, probably one of the more shocking moments in game because I assumed the moral consequence would come later in the game. But having him stay behind so you could continue on to the train was tough, I was hoping to see him drop right behind me but nope. The crew later was hopeful that duke would come trolling up any day like he always did, asked for adventure and got the worst of it, such an amazing game
Huh, I did not know Damir could leave or stay. Personally it felt as though Damir leaving was a part of the game as it added a good touch to his character.
Same. I didn't even realize these were "good" or "bad" scenarios. I tried to be good, but somehow still ended up with the bad ending. Game wasn't very obvious about it. At any rate, glad RU-vid exists so I could just watch the good one. The thought of playing this game again makes me kinda tilted. There were lots of super annoying parts.
@@jasonfrost5025 Literally. I must have killed a slave at night by mistake because I made a conscious effort not to kill any of them in any missions. Kinda dumb.
I am 100% sure that you can get good ending just with Alyosha and Duke without Damir cause I did finished the game like that but I am not sure if only 1 would be enough.
I got good ending without Damir. This game's morale system is just stupid. I didn't know that some of the slaves can be freed in the desert world. I had to kill some of those guards and most of them are fucking thugs who deserve to die...
I legitimately didn’t know you could save duke... or that Damir could leave you. Killed most fish worshippers but avoided killing slaves...and sneaked through all the Taiga level...guess it’s time to save Duke!
On my second playthrough I failed to keep Damir on board, but because I made a quick save shortly after the elevator ride up, I loaded that save and saved two slaves on the way up. That turned out to be just enough to get the achievement and keep Damir with me.
Lmao, I tried being stealthy, but those aholes saw me through walls, and since they tried killing me, I killed them! Needless to say, I got the bad endings😅
For me, I always felt that keeping the squad as a whole was the right thing to do. Sure people think that Damir should be with his people but they tend to over look 1 thing. He's a medic and he is empathetic and cares deeply for all aboard the Aurora, making sure that everyone receives the medical attention required so i felt that with him staying with the crew would be better then going off to fight for his people. I mean sure Katya is a trained nurse but she can't be on the field all the time outside the train.
@@musicxxa6678 literally came to this video because the same exact thing happened to me. Playing in Ranger hardcore and have only killed bandits. Stealth everytime but he still dies. So frustrating.
So I replayed this chapter like 5x just for the Damir trophy! I finally got the trophy by following the guide. But in the fortress section, I HELPED the two slaves (man force into a room under some steps and a woman with blue streaks on her hair) being held by the bandits! Hope this helped.
Was looking for this comment! Lol. I've done the exact same thing as forgot he was there. I thought he was further on. Can't reload as save point has passed. Was going to risk it but looks like I will have to replay chapter then for the Full Strength achievement🤦♀️🤦♀️ Thanks! xD
Damir is touchy AF. You can get around the boyscouts in the forest and the swamp amish easy enough, but get your FOF wrong, and D-boy goes d-bag and leaves.
Not to be mean. But you are dead wrong about killing. You can stealth kill or shoot in combat any bandit or evil thugs you want. But when one or two surrender knock them out or you will loose a karma point. In volga church i got spotted and killed most of the cultist. 3 of them surrendered, i knocked them out. And about the church,, when i arrived at the bridge, i heard two cultist talk about the fact that i killed the reinforcement at the church but allowed some to surrender and that i did not kill any non-combatant ( even thought thats not possible the women and children are behind closed doors) and they then say that even thought im a heretic i still have some of my humanity left. I also freed cultist in the open world and put my gun down when going up to cultist in the open world wich they liked. I did not kill anyone on the bridge and the leader let us trough peacefuly. I did not kill anyone on the boat, they are just travellig merchants. I killed all bandits in volga( execpt when surrender) duke lived. In the dessert i again killed any bandi i came acrosse( execpt surrender) i did not kill any slave exept one or two when helping out ghul(the hooded asian woman) i did not loose karma for those since they were shooting at me. They are two injured slave fighters on the ground after then fight. I just ignored them and got a karma point when going back down the lighthouse with ghul. I freed all the slaves i could and got ghu Her moms picture. In the last sequence of the dessert. You sneak in trough a sewer gate, theres two section to go trought. The two sections are populated by tribals(thats what subtitles says) they are all slave but, the armed ones are slaves that got promoted and you can see them abuse the lower rank slaves. I did not loose karma for killing the evil slaves(tribals) but just for curiosity i killed a non armed slaved and lost karma so i reloaded a quick save. After when you go in the barons tower. I lowered my weapon, then i saw a thug push a slave into a room to beat him with a pipe. I waited for the thug to go in the room then knocked him out. The slaves thanks you for not killing his master because if his master die, then he would be also killed. Nobody saw me so i just lower my gun again and walk out of the room the thugs are not hostil since they did not see me. I then go up to the whore house part, theres a sex slave being kicked by a dude. I tried punching him but everyone got hostil so i reloaded. I just watched him kick her 4 times, then another slave drags her to the side where she just sits and cry. Its hard to watch but. Ghul told me earlier she had a plan when imentered the tower so i did not want to ruin it so i just let the thug beat the girl. I then walked up to the barons penthouse, he talks to us then tryes to make a deal. One thug offers you thea in a cup while pointing a shotgun at us. Ghul who was hiding nearby heashots the thug. The barons runs in a room and barricads himself. Thugs pours in the room from the stairs you got up. You kill them all and then damir and you open the door. The baron is holding ghul over the edge of the tower. Ghul laughs and says someting. A bunch of explosions goes off. The baron drop ghul down the edge. She grabs the ledge damir pulls he rup. The barron gets on top of you and gets killed by anna. Damir stayed with the crew of the aurora and i heard on the radio on the train after the end of dessert ghul speaking on the radio tell all slaves to come to the barons tower to join the ristance against the slavers. Soory for the long comment. But i just want people to know they dont have to play the game in a non lethal way wich is boring. Just make sure the people you kill are evil. Thanks for reading. I like the nuance in the moral system. I defended myself at the church but showed mercy and that was aknoledge by a dialogue between two cultist. I tough there would only be two different dialogues one where i killed no one and another where im a demon who killed everyone. But awesomely. I got a hybride dialogue.
I couldn't distinguish the "good" slaves from the "evil" ones. I had to kill one or two of them in a war situation, so I assume the tribals were the slaves in arms? And I didn't see any indication that I earned a kharma point.
@@kronos4282 Spare surrendering enemies, release prisoners... When you do that, there will be a flash of light and a sound noticing you got karma points.
I got the good ending by accident in my first play through. I just killed anything that wanted to kill me and I spared anyone that surrendered, oh and also I did almost all the side quest except on the forest mission with the professor followers. And I got the good ending either way
I just followed the standard doctrine "return fire if fired upon" and it all went well Duke and Alyosha mission. Couldn't keep Damir though as I was not able to free all slaves (the ones in the underground chambers)
Cool Maniac no you can as much of them as you want you can’t just kill the pioneers, the cultists, the boat crew, and any slaves just knocking them out anything else is fair game
4:00 I got to this section completely unspotted, and if you do, the guy will still be mid sermon, and wont try to hold the door against you like he does in this video! That is so interesting, such a tiny detail that they added in!
I loved 2033 and last light I played through exploring both games getting the flashes while on my 2nd run through and got different scenes and ending so I knew stuff was possible but I Def didn't know about damir and the switch after that ziplines you showed I must of missed that both time thanks man now I'm on my 3rd run through this helped
You can actually kill the cultists at the church as long as you don’t kill civilians or people that surrendered. It actually gives some of the guards on the bridge different dialogue.
It's funny to stealth through the bridge village knocking them out as you go and Silantius is still preaching as you enter. Damn. I already screwed up the Caspian Sea segment. While in the cave network leading to the lighthouse, there was a slave standing over his master as he was dying. My weapon was holstered and the slave started shooting so I returned fire...
In Caspian there is too many machine guns so i recommend you should smack them all down combine with tikhar suppression but free all slave cages instead, Damir still stay as same as you did,we are forced to return fire/ fight back alot there
My first play through “stealth adivised” me three seconds later BOOM BOOM BOOM FBI OPEN UP but now I’ll have to replay the whole game I only saved alyosha
So, for Damir, when it comes to saving the slaves at the oasis and the dismantled boat, have no fear gunning down the thugs and tribals, for reloading saves when stealth fails sorta gets broken at the dismantled boat.
Alyoshia gets shot while they're stealing the train at the beginning but there's nothing you can do about it since that part is a cut scene, but he doesn't die.
My first run with the Volga chapter ended with Duke being killed, and I know in a demo video that Duke can live, so I immediately replayed the whole Chapter, and only killed three people right before confronting Silantius, and the game saved Duke anyway even though I did kill three people out of desperation, so I guess some casualties are tolerated, after that I'm lucky, Damir Stayed even though I don't really know what I did during the Caspian Chapter, I did freed all the slaves, but I'm not sure if I killed any slave or not, and in the Taiga Chapter after I learned all of the Children of the forest are basically school children, I spared all of them, and I unknowingly get the good ending on my first playthrough.
@@kevinbarber2795 Yeah the main thing is to hijack the boat on stealth and get to the silanteus on stealth on the bridge you have to not kill anybody on the boats and on the bridge
I still remember hating myself the first time i played this game; I misclicked and killed a church guard so Duke was lost in the mission but I didn't load an older save because some optional dialogue referenced the time he everyone thought he'd died in a previous game only to show up alive a few hours later so I thought he was gonna be fine as I'd honestly forgotten about the series hidden Karma mechanics...
I think Damir staying in Caspian makes more sense for the character and story. It's clear there's a lot of work to be done in the wake of the Baron's demise.
Does anyone know if this has to be done in one playthrough? Or if you missed one can you go and do it through chapter select, and then continue from the mission you were on and finish the campaign and the achievement will still unlock??
Just a few extra things: in the Volga, you know if you got the good outcome before Silantius asks his men to not shoot, right before that, still in the cutscene, if you were a dick and killed the members of the cult, Silantius will say something like, “You have stolen Katya and now you kill me! You will burn in hell for your sins!”
I think I killed that one guy at the church but proceeded to knock out and spare the rest, killed the boat crew to the last man and even at the bridge I ignored the guards and Duke still lives. I got full strength without being aware of it. Rule of thumb, if it’s a bandit, cannibal, slaver or tribal, slay them to the last man.
Lifehack: If you want to easily take down Juggernaut armored dudes like in the boat in Caspian, throw 3 molotovs on him and if that doesn't do it, go around him and shoot him in the back
Russian version is not bad. Yep, this isn't a best dub in video game, but this version pretty good, I guess. I'm native speaker (russian), I always choоse original voice track in video games/films (I play in Gothic with german, The Witcher with polish etc), but english Metro souds bad with this strrong rrrrussian accеnt. If we speak about Anna, Katya and Sam - they sounds good in english (this my opinion), other characters in russian. So about translation.... I don't like heard "Duke", his full name Igor Knyazev and his nickname "Knyaz' " comes from last name. There are many such things and this is exactly what makes russian version of the Мetro atmospheric, I think.
I swear, iirc I killed some folks during the Taiga mission but still got Alyosha safe and sound. And also imo Damir staying at the Caspian sea is the canon one. didn't think of it as a bad ending whatsoever on my first game.
I freed the slaves in the shipwreck only, didn't kill any of them and gave the photo and Damir still left. You have to free all of the slaves and not kill any of them to make Damir Stay in the crew
they are some hidden and not obvius things to get a good ending, like the slave on the tower who going to get punished, if u knock out the bandit ur screen flashes (done a good thing) other thing is then the prostitute drinks the water and gets beaten u can react and kill the bandit and u get rewarded too like i did
i did the volga level where i didnt kill any of the cult members but just bandits....at the railcar section where i reach the bandit outpost i killed them all and i got a bad morale flash.....anyway moved on to the bridge where i just knocked out a couple of cultists and didnt kill any1 ....MADE IT STEALTHFULLY THERE and duke still got shot fuck this game god dammit
These video is a little bit misleading. I managed to keep all the characters without really being so careful. For example: - I killed several armed cultists in the first section in Volga, as well as in the station where the passenger wagon is. Although not in the last mission, also spared any unarmed cultist, freed the dude in the cage, etc. - I killed several armed slaves in the Caspian, such as in the lighthouse and previous part. Although I did spare all unarmed/caged slaves (freed them) and did the last mission 100% stealthily. - I killed several pioneers in the first checkpoint in the taiga, in the church you take the zip-line from (unless they where actually pirates, can't remember), I also knocked out a lot of them in the camps and gunned my way through the pirates base coz there was no way to sneak around, and in the Hardcore difficulty (yes, I did it in the first blind run), there's no way to run past them. Did stay with the crippled general till he fell asleep, a very sweet moment. What I say is, as the creator's pinned comment says, those are the ultra-safest methods to get it done, but they're not necessarily accurate and I just wanted to give you some example of parts where you shouldn't worry about not killing the 20 men that are shooting at you. Also, highly recommended to play on Hardcore, specially if it's your first run. Had to count every bullet and died to up to 4 bullet hits in the best case. Don't know how resources work in the easier difficulties, but in the health department, as seen in the video, you are super tanky. It makes the game a completely different one, where the oppressive atmosphere of the series is also reflected on the gameplay. If it's your first run, don't worry about trophies, don't look anything up unless you're genuinely stuck, as I said, don't be afraid of Hardcore, it's very fair and the save system is extremely forgiving, being able to practically save anytime and load previous saves, as long as you're out of combat, which for instance, offers you the chance to just save in the middle of a stealth section when you're doubtful of what way to choose and only risk like 10s of gameplay. Just, don't worry about perfect scores or missing out stuff, enjoy the ride and if you want a 100% unlock you can always replay in lower difficulty.
the first part is kind of false as long as you don't shoot first or kill any cult members with stealth it should be alright not to mention if you go around liberating cult members from bandits that will definitely help out too and duke won't die. That was how my playthrough went, it's all about being moral and not blood thirsty lol
Sorry but you're wrong about plenty there mate. I killed a bunch of cultists at the church and throughout Volga; The only time I didn't kill them was in the last part before I met their leader and even doing that Duke still survived in my playthrough.
Now I got this achievement (I own an Xbox, but it still applies) by accident, kinda. The same thing happened with me in Dishonored. I always try to take the other path. No kills unless I have to. Hence I survived Novosibirsk. Now I want to know how many people got the Forest Child -achievement- trophy. The one where you go through Tiaga without being seen or attacking anyone.
EXTRA FOR DAMIR IN CASE YOU MADE A MISTAKE: When climbing the baron tower, you see a thug torturing a slave pushing him into a room. Knock the thug out, you will see the good deed flash. 2. If you go straight from the aurora to the water mission, there is a big dig out. Go inside without harming the slaves. Kill the thugs that are torturing a slave, loot them, you will get another good deed flash
Is this also how you get the good ending? Or does it significantly help? I'm on my first play through and so far I have done all the good moral stuff in the first mission as well as getting these first 2
i think the only one i did right was Alyosha lol. but that was after i already played through the 1st part and one of my guys died and i was like "i wonder if he could of lived" then saw that. and yeah i didnt look into the slave thing. until after i beat the game and got the bad ending
03:51 I killed some guards in this part with the "throwing knife", and knocked out others, but still Duke didn't die, I didn't even think that was possible. In reality, I got the good ending even though I killed almost everyone who was a thief, I tried to be stealthy but they always ended up finding me
My first play through of this game I remember killing a few of them with suppressed guns in the church but didn’t kill anyone on the bridge and duke lived
Aloysha...Listen here...At the start of the level you can find bandit who is tied and eaten by woleves if you don't help him ...Anyway I helped him and killed everyone except that wounded guy who was attacked by bear...And Aloysha was not wounded.
