Bethesda was good in the survival aspect not so much in the horror aspect, this is with regards to fallout New Vegas. I wouldn't consider the newer titles to be actually fallout.
@@mathmace If you played Fallout 3 you would know that of the aspects were copied from it. The game looks almost identical except for the green and serpia tint. Even the same engine developed by Bethesda was used. So it's not entirely obsidian.
@Javier m so what makes you think you opinion is relevant? Seeing your maturity level based on words you used, I hardly think you have actually done some research.
I never actually saw an ACG video until today. I must say your reviews are really thorough and remind me of the fact-driven, no-nonsense style of reviewing 90s game magazines had. Making these must take you an incredible amount of time and dedication. We're all better off for it though.
TotallyToonsTV I’m very optimistic but I doubt there’s naysay in hell to make a fallout game look as amazing as metro fallout is a huge massive open world that’s probably consistently one of the biggest top 10 game worlds to explore metro exodus though quite a big game not even close to being as huge as fallout I’d like to hope but I doubt that’s even possible unless maybe couple years down the line on the biggest pc rig money can buy
Good to see 4A could take the game out of the tunnels and still have something atmospheric and fun. It's really a shame that its launch is overshadowed by Deep Silver's payday from Epic... I imagine that has to sting for the devs that clearly put a ton of work into this.
I feel so bad for 4A in this whole situation, but despite them being caught in the crossfire of it we still have to make sure that this decision by Deep Silver for Epic Games Exclusivity is a failure, otherwise, launcher exclusivity could become a real problem in the PC market, and once it's embedded in the industry, its going to be even harder to get rid of, so we have to get rid of it now. If the game was developed by the company that owns the launcher or the game was heavily invested in by those people that own the launcher, than I say sure, that's fine, but otherwise, no, PC store exclusivity is bad.
@ tgaanker hijki I've pre-ordered a physical copy, which was supposed to come with a Steam key. Instead it now would have come with a key for the Epic store, without them even shooting a message to their customers. Screw them, pre-order cancelled.

Half the time I wish I could play English games in Russian or Japanese or really any language other than English. It's the only way to shield yourself from industry-standard aka horrendous voice acting.
I always feel that a foreign film is best in its native language with subtitles. I'm happy to read the subtitles and enjoy the beautiful nuance that you can only get from a film in its original language and audio. Das Boot is a great example as is 9th Company. I add the Metro series to this opinion as well the game is so much more immersive in Russian. Sometimes I get so into it I don't even read the subtitles.
Tristan Holland looking at the bottom of the screen while reading the entire duration of a film isn’t the best scenario. Quality dub is the best. Depends on the movie though. I’ll take subtitles over horrendous dub
this is by far the most immersive game I've ever played ( and Ive been playing games for more than 20 years). I'm currently on my 2nd playthrough on ranger hardcore (which I totally recommend as it adds some additional layer to the already tense atmosphere) and I'm appreciating the game even more. on 1440 ultra ray tracing on high it looks phenomenal... and that ending man. its rare that games have such a perfect pacing AND nail it on the ending. kudos to them. masterpiece right here
Yeah I love Metro series, but that one part in particular was way, way too similar to Fallout 3+. Awesome game anyways, though. Wish it was available on Steam. Now I’m betraying the Master Race and thinking of getting it on my PS4 Pro, instead.
As much as I dislike Fallout, I felt bad to hear such a beloved series go to shit like that. Hope you guys get something better with FO5 if/when it happens
Alotta people comparing this to Fallout... and rightly so! This is what Fallout wishes it would look like... and run like... and play like... and sound like... and just be like if it was running on a better engine... and developed by a less shitty company. And this is from someone who has become slightly obsessed with Fallout 4 at the moment.
This is nothing like Fallout should be. Fallout should be an RPG, it died as soon as they dumped all the RPG elements that made it fallout and made a shooter game with Fallout skin. Metro is something special and a good game, but it's a complete other genre compared to Fallout...
@@theo_6947 exactly same as Blizzard its a shame gaming needs a return to form, support indi developer s and smaller devs such as 4A studios #EA challenge everything
@@mickbelfast That's like saying Fallout 76 is better than Metro Exodus there is no comparison. If you don't like that game then don't play it!This game is more finished/playable than 30 games that come out since last year?
i believe that this is ART, a MASTERPIECE. Yes it has some issues like: ocasional glitches, pacing seems weird here and there, depending on what path u take, and the forest act felt rushed. But besides that everything else simply engaged me so much, that i really wanted to play more and more, having moments when it was 3 am but i still wanted to explore 1 more objective on map, or see how a weapon can play with the new upgardes/mods i just found. Also as i progresssed through the game i started to get attached to amy spartans crew, Anna, The colonel, leaving me at the end in a rollercoaster of emotions. This is by far the best FPS i played. 4a Games i bow to your skills, consider me impressed and a fan!
@vin 950 Seriously you'd think they killed someone to warrant this reaction. I'm not saying what they did was cool but "burn in hell"? really? I don't even understand how "principals" have any place here.
@@priestskorge because Deep Silver and THQ Nordic decided that it was a good idea to sign an exclusivity deal with the Epic Games Store, pulling it off last minute from Steam after many pre-ordered it.
Are we talking about the same games? Those were corridor shooters and I really disliked them because of that, I hope this one is different and as far as I can see, it certainly is
@@Alex_1729 like the guy above already said, its a fcking metro system and secondly, corridors are better than a stupid and empty open world. story games are not required to have such a stupid trend in them
I've got enough games in my library that i could play 5 different games a day on Steam and still have games left when it releases on Steam. I probably will pick it up at a big discount in the 2020 steam summer sale or maybe winter sale. I can afford to wait. plus I got bundles to buy.
Same. I will consider buying on a deep Steam Sale. Not holding my breath on this one because there are plenty other games to keep be busy until then...
fun facts about this game: knocking people out or choosing to kill them affects how factions look at you and some people you come across arent all enemies, if you eavesdrop on some and holster your weapon, they will befriend you
The train idea as the hub area is fucking genius. It's a really creative spin that kinda hides the obvious linearity that may be there in the game, unless you're actually able to revisit previous areas and backtrack the train.
IGN is the review you watch while standing in front of the games at the gamestore, scoping out some gameplay before picking up a random title. This review is what you watch when you want to sit down and decide if a game is worth your hard-earned money.
IGN, Kotaku, Polygon, those are just filthy casual entertainment journalists. Ever seen “Polygon plays Doom”? Search it on RU-vid, it’s hilarious. I’d link you, but it might get spam censored.
What's really hilarious is that 1. You apparently watched the IGN review, giving them a view. Meaning you must enjoy supporting them. 2. You people think you need to talk about IGN on ever damn review ACG does! Just shut the hell up about them ffs!
15:00 to 15:15 I felt this comment on a spiritual level. I remember playing 2033 a few years back on the 360 and no matter where I was or how secluded an area it happened it, all of my "stealth" kills ended up with somebody knowing I had done it. I'd come back from a spot I thought was a good place to hide after a kill and these bastards would be ready to go.
For all intents and purposes, Metro Exodus has everything that you'd want in a first person survival horror/post apocalyptic game (story, characters, voice acting, visuals, combat, atmosphere and setting, animations, lighting, etc). Sure, the music is lacking at times. However, for the most part, Metro Exodus is a solid experience as a whole. The Fallout franchise and especially Fallout 76 in particular can definitely learn a lot from the Metro series and the latest entry is no exception. This a definite buy as far as I'm concerned. There is no doubt about it whatsoever. Thanks once again Karak for another honest, unbiased and detailed review. I really appreciate the hard work. Keep it up!
I've always wanted to play the METRO games but never got around to it. Keeping my eye on this one, but I don't like how it's restricted to the Epic Store.
Agreed I don't like that whole sneaky Epic mess either but hey aslong the game is good I don't mind that much. And if you're extremely salty about it puy a physical copy they're still tied to steam with full support.
Buy the two first ones, i believe metro 2033 goes for 5 dollar or less on sales. They are both still good today just because of how much work the devs put into the atmosphere of the game its still a fresh of breath air compared to most shooters.
@@davevd9944 i don't think that is correct, I'm almost positive i seen a post by on twitter by the Metro account saying physical copies will be tied to the Epic Store.
Not only is this a great review mechanically, I also really enjoyed the personal flair and humor in it. I was a little wary of the changes this title brings to the series, and I’m so glad to hear it builds on its predecessors!
Why do you guys gotta keep misinterpreting shit? They only delayed it on Steam because of Deep Silver being a fucking idiot and making it exclusive to the Epic store. I hope the Epic Store fails cause it is a terrible launcher.
Just bought. Fucking great. Both Metro 1&2 are among my favs of last gen. Been looking forward to this for a good while. Tip..... Get it. Other tip... Don't wait a year you PC guys!
Love your work. You always put as much emphasis on the audio and music as you do with the graphics and gameplay. As a game music buff it's great to see. That's why I highly rate your reviews.
I love 4A and the Metro series and the game looks fucking amazing, too bad about the whole DeepSilver/Epic Store situation so i´m waiting until it comes out on Steam, might just replay 2033 and Last Light to recap when it´s december or something :P
@@christophermarsh3172 You were able to pre-order the game from Steam but a couple weeks before the release the game was taken away from Steam and put exclusively on Epic Store
Kharn526 I did make up my mind. I was just nervous because I remember seeing several reports that some of the gunplay was extremely stiff. I had no doubt the story would be good, but I was concerned about gameplay.
If it gets patched and released on GOG I will get it there. If they release a PS4 version with all the patches and DLC included on disc, I will also get it there.
$9.99 for xbox with game pass subscription, can't beat that this game is absolutely amazing.. for those of u who remember half life 2, and how good that game was, this is is the first game that feels like it matches half life 2s single player.
Or just wait for Game Pass when it's a buck a month. Hell, got three months for a buck. Playing it and several others for a dollar lol. I've got about a years worth of Game Pass for 8-10 bucks. So.. yeah.. Patience rewards.
Cant wait to buy this in a few days. My PS4 is so ready. No way Im waiting to buy this for my PC when its available on Steam (which I would do if the game was PC Only) given the hard work 4a have put into it and the support they need since the games available on Console.
The reviews for this game are all over the board. I personally Loved the game, and plan to do another play-through. It seems a lot of user reviews (on PC atleast) have been saying the game runs like crap and is optimized. I must have gotten lucky, or simply have a powerful enough PC to overcome this, as my game ran just fine (>60 fps @ 4k). This was my first time playing any Metro game, and Im deffinately going to go back and play the earlier titles. Well done 4A, looking forward to see what you have for us next!
I have bought this game the other day having owned the redux which i had since the launce, however i have only just played through them both before playing through the exodus game and my god these games are amazing, by far one of my favourate franchises in games
16:09 "The game is incredible." While an arm is glitching in a door lol This isn't a knock on the review, just a funny moment I noticed. I love the detail ACG goes into. Especially on something like gun recoil which I was also worried about. If i'm gonna jump in on Ranger and the recoil is off, i'm not gonna wanna play this game. That's the kind of info I wanna know from a good review.
Of all reviews that popped up when I signed onto RU-vid regarding Metro Exodus, this is the only review that matters. Oh and this is a day one purchase for me.
I saw a GTX2080Ti SLI benchmark video showing this game running at DX11 but was wondering why and learnt that its because there is no SLI support in DX12. Wanting to checkout how it would play in DX11 I tried the same thing on my single GTX2080Ti and saw a significant increase in framerate from averages of 80-90s turning into 90-100s, roughly a 20% improvement if not more. And the game still looks great in DX11 (although to my eyes it looked better!). Best surprise I ever had in AAA game gaming in a long time. The other pleasant surprise I got recently was how the first Crysis ran at 80-100fps with drops to "lows" of 60-70s (at 3440x1440), took me 12 years for my PC to be finally able to "run Crysis" (Very High settings but with AA off).
I would love to see comments about the game and if they think is good instead of people saying they'll buy on 2020, we get it steam is way better and epic can shove it up their ass with this deal because its not fair for most pc players so I understand why many of you are angry and you guys are justified to be so, but some of us who won't be on the epic launcher prefer to see comments about people's thoughts on the game itself instead of people complaining about it's release because I will be getting it for the PS4 and im more interested in the game play itself.
@@Stranger242-2 because, it's always better to hear what people say. instead of listing to a video that probably wouldn't reply to its viewers like the strangers would.. like i just did with your comment..
@@Stranger242-2 because there is better chances I can find someone else's opinion more relatable and I can have a conversation about the game in the comments
Epic might get there one day, until then I can afford to wait, I have 2600+ games in my library and dropped about 200 in the last big sale and haven't even checked all those games out yet. Plus with bundles throwing games at me as well constantly, my backlog just grows and grows.
Mate, you're the best in your field right now. In an industry that is plagued by greedy cunts who only care about milking as much money out of you as your little udders can handle, you bring back integrity, honesty, and the love of gaming. I applaud you for it. Can't wait to give this one a go.
Lol. Just the other day I was talking about how occasionally it sounds like Artyom waddles like a penguin based on the sound of his footsteps. Great game overall. Highly recommend.
Just finished the game and it’s amazing and everyone should play it you get immersed into the world no filler and ever character has there place. Anyone who is saying “got delayed for a year” wasn’t gonna buy the game in the first place and would of most likely bought it in 6 months anyway. If you played the previous metro games you’ll love this one
The detail in the game world is just incredible! I've been putting off playing the first 2 titles until I build a proper gaming PC, and I can't wait to jump into this series!
I really want to play this game and i'm really disappointed that deep siver removed it from steam it felt like a punch in the face still going to play it tho but on 2020, good job man as always number 1 keep it up
For me, it's a solid WAIT FOR STEAM. Thank you for reviewing this awesome game. Pitty I will have to wait another year to play it on my own terms... After all, a man needs to stick to his principles.
"After all, a man needs to stick to his principles". I truly admire that, but the context here is that it's just a video game...It's just a launcher man. I doubt you'd actually need any of steams features just for exodus. And I completely understand that it's annoying to have a new launcher just for one game but...Metro makes it worth it.
The context is, its just a video game so no reason to not stick to his principles. Why would he stop sticking to his principles over a simple video game?@@SunLevi
@@Lowlightt Literally because it's a launcher + a video game. An entertainment medium. And he doesn't have to "stop" his principles. "Why would he stop sticking to his principles over a simple video game?" It seems like your implying that getting this game on epic early means that it stops or undermines his principles, it doesn't. If his principle was to not wanting to support Deep silver due to a crappy business decision then that's fine. But if you "want" to play a game but you don't because you need a separate launcher then that's kinda...Silly.
@@SunLevi It's not about launcher, it's about how Deep Silver screwed us over by making a silent deal with Epic and informing us about it just two weeks before release date. They didn't care we already ordered game on Steam, they didn't care some of us wouldn't even notice what happened until the box was already open. We were forced to use objectively inferior game platform just because some greedy asshole took a case full of money for turning Metro: Exodus into marketing tool for Epic Games Shop. I can't and won't support that.
@@Uni0nDirect0r Steam isn't anything to write home about just because it has user reviews lol the UI still looks like its from the year 2005. You sound like a big baby my dude. Its the difference between a simple game launcher lol these "real release 2020" comments are so childish.
That Dave Mustaine reference was cool. God bless Megadeth. Great game as well. Glad to see Metro has a trilogy of fantastic games. I want to buy this game for sure! Enjoy everybody it!
Pretty much as expected. I'll be with most people waiting for the Steam release. I'm not comfortable giving my information to a company that has such a large ownership investment from Tencent.
What irks me is that for all the obsession with detail, the devs didn't think of making the mask effects blurry. They are in full focus which makes the cracks and duct tape look like someone patched up my broken TV instead of the character wearing a cracked mask. This needs to be out of focus to be believable. It's kinda distracting now.
Great games. I would recommend playing the first 2 so you can better understand the story. I just recently played them and got sucked into the story. The atmosphere is great. I’m sure they’re cheap. Well worth the price.
I hope you review Anthem next. I'm dancing around that game like an excited puppy for a biscuit, but also barking at it with caution because EA is the one holding the treat.
This game was fantastic, I bought it on day 1 and my first playthrough took about 26 hours and I loved every minute. I cared about my companions, I loved the guns, going stealth or guns blasting. Decisions you make have an effect on the outcome of the game. I had the game crash one time out of those 26 hours not bad for Xbox one X. Please buy and support this game.
