@Cole Smith-McKenzie that’s the case if only the Measure M tax money is funding the project. They’re currently looking for additional funding from the government and other local agencies to get the project expedited. But yes, the actual construction of the line will probably take at least a decade. And that’s after final planning, land acquisition, and permits which will likely take 5 years in and of itself.

Thanks, finally a good video of the k line that's not incomplete or sped up.The train definitely could have missed some of those red lights had it not been creeping along.

@@goombacraft um, I guess I'm not really getting what you're saying, what do you mean by he skipped them when the train clearly stopped at red lights? that's not a skip, and if you notice the train only started moving when the cars traveling in the same direction started moving.

@@karoslif9818 He cut the footage at red lights and even when the train stopped, that's all skipped footage that in today's standards people don't really like. Your saving nothing really and more people appreciate complete footage.

Oct 7 was opening day for the K line. Yet I see very few people at the stations. I remember opening day on the Gold line and Expo line, the stations were packed with people.

K Line train ride was fun since I went with my friends on Saturday October 8, 2022. Especially with the brand new Kinkisharyo p3010 lrv trains and few station with the most creative. I say Kinkisharyo p3010 trains are more better because of the surface polished metal.

Hopefully, the K Line, plus the Regional Connector, will get more Angelinos and people living in Riverside, San Bernardino and Orange Counties to abandon their cars and reduce heavy traffic on the freeways. But that's just my opinion.

Note that the overhead catenary in the underground stations and tunnels is rigid third rail. Also, note there is no traffic signal pre-emption at grade crossings controlled by traffic signals. Unfortunately, it is Metro's belief that idling autos and trucks cause air-pollution. So to limit that idling, all the people riding clean, green electric public transit have to give autos priority. There is something wrong with this thinking.

Ok, two things: First, why is this line so slow? It’s brand new and it already feels really slow. There are so many places where the speed limit could be much higher than it currently is, and I’m sure they could shave off a few minutes of travel time if they allowed trains to run faster, especially on the straightaways. Second, it is unacceptable for trains on a brand new rail line in the United States to have to stop at intersections and wait for cars, sometimes for more than a minute at a time. They spent over $2 billion on this rail line, and yet still trains have to waste time sitting stopped at intersections waiting for cars who, apparently, have priority?! That’s ridiculous. How much could it possibly cost to simply alter the software and phasing of the traffic lights to allow trains to have priority? Such a simple fix could save immense amounts of time for commuters in the long run. They’ve done it in other cities (i.e. Seattle, Portland, Phoenix, etc.), so why can’t they do it in LA?

I was disappointed to go so slow, trackside sign said 65 but we never exceeded 50 outside. Sometimes we waited over 2 minutes for a light, which really shouldn’t be happening

One of the reasons trains don't have 100% priority is for pollution laws believe it or not. See, cars, especially older ones, pollute when idling. The train has to keep that idling to a minimum. So, it can't have full priority or cars would pollute too much waiting for the train to pass. The fact that this makes the train slower, meaning fewer people will take it, isn't factored in the calculations.

I tried taking public transit around L A, and it is just disgustingly gross. I really wanted it to work for me, but the homeless use it as a toilet, and many more issues to list. I ended up using all of my savings and emergency money to use Lyft and Uber to get to/from my college classes to avoid using public transit.

@@m0istl0la97 lol right?!! I moved to SF well after construction of the central subway started back in 2013, moved in 2020, and it STILL wasn't open 🤣. Contractors fault MOSTLY. And as far as the K line, it definitely was delayed I just don't know how long the delay of opening was.
