@@wjjdjdrhehdjd7531 that my friend is an old russian song sung to put little kids and babies to sleep, but they modified it to make it 10× creepier, great trailer
Actually, she was expecting the Officer to take her and the child. That's why she tried to enter herself. He only took the child, but, in reality the mom wanted to go too.
Never understood why everyone hated the commander. Yes people were left to die when he ordered the gates to be closed, but it was either that or leaving the gates open and risking the death of those that escaped to the metro on top of those who didn't reach the gates (remember, every second counts when it comes to nuclear blasts).
Well think about it like this, the nukes are coming down and people are still entering the Metro. If the doors was still open people would still be flowing into the Metro and they wouldn't be able to close the doors. If that happens and the nukes hit then they'd be exposed to a lot of blast and a lot of radiation. Besides, you can't save everyone. You can only save the ones you can.
Soldiers such as that officer had specific orders to hold the gates open for a certain time period. The Soviet Union had such little things all calculated. There were food rations prepared for such an event and stored underground. In fact, you can even buy those rations online from Russian websites, they won't taste good because they have been in storage for over 30 years, they were originally intended for 15 years storage and were renewed accordingly. Everything was calculated and all members of the military had strict orders to follow even if it meant to open fire on the citizens.
The reason why he closed the gates was because they were only allowed to let in a certain number of people. That's why they were using a counter to get a rough estimate of how many people entered.
God, the moment the bombs dropped gave me chills. Those poor people. The sound of them being forced up against the doors always makes me wince. Metro is by far my favorite series.
Radio chatter: “Rockets were launched” (repeated) Radioguy: “Get down to the Metro!” Mother sings a russian lullaby, translated roughly as “Sleep, sleep, don’t lie at the edge [of the bed], [or else] a gray wolf will come and bite you at your side” (woman’s voice repeats this in the end) End is nigh guy: Religious crap about end of the world, armageddon, etc. The woman asks soldiers to take her baby. The captain orders to open/close the gates.
The lullaby in the background sends shivers down my spine... I like to imagine that the mother, in some shape and form is watching over her child from beyond the grave...
The first time I saw this trailer, it scared me to death. Nuclear war is one of my greatest fears. Those kinds of weapons should not exist, under *any* circumstances.
here is the english lyrics for the whole lullaby that the lady was singing to her baby. very fitting. Cossack Lullaby 1. Sleep, my beautiful good boy, Bayushki bayu*, Quietly the moon is looking Into your cradle. I will tell you fairy tales And sing you little songs, But you must slumber, with your little eyes closed, Bayushki bayu. 2. The time will come when you will learn The soldier's way of life, Boldly you'll place your foot into the stirrup And take the gun. The saddle-cloth for your battle horse I will sew for you from silk. Sleep now, my dear little child, Bayushki bayu. 3. You will look like a hero And be a Cossack deep in your heart. I will accompany you and watch you go, You will just wave your hand. How many secret bitter tears Will I shed that night! Sleep, my angel, calmly, sweetly, Bayushki bayu. 4. I will die from yearning, Inconsolably waiting, I'll pray the whole day long, And at night I'll wonder, I'll think that you're in trouble Far away in a strange land. Sleep now, as long as you know no sorrows, Bayushki bayu. 5. On the road, I'll give you A small holy icon, And when you pray to God, you'll Put it right in front of you, While preparing for the dangerous battle Please remember your mother. Sleep, good boy, my beautiful, Bayushki bayu.
Isaac J Oh, that's such a great translation of a wrong lullaby. I mean, there is a lullaby you mentioned, but the one in the video is different and really common: Bayu-bayushki-bayu, don't sleep on the edge, or the grey wolf will come and bite your side.
Something tells me that in the Metro universe, the Soviet Union didn't got disbanded and continued until the Nuclear fire. I think that because if you look carefully, you can see a alternative Hammer and Sickle on some of the pins that are on the military uniforms.
What I enjoy is you never know who launched their nukes first. Both we as players are just as clueless about it as Artyom and many other denizens of the Metro.
Statistics say it will happen eventually. Think of it like this. You flip a coin, and even if you flip it eagle side up 50 times, there's still fifty flips to get it once on the other. And that other side is tied to a missile.
I remember watching this commercial 11 years ago and it stuck with me the entire time. It wasn't until I started playing last light that this memory shot back into my brain. I had to rush here and find out if this was really the same thing. I'm so happy it was. Can't wait to finish LL and go on to exodus.
there is a metro 2033 movie in the making hopefully it gets somewhere. not many people know. I want it to get the popularity it deserves. look it up give it support in anyway.
DemBones1012 I think with this IP a movie would be inferior to the game, I'd rather be the one going down into those tunnels exploring than watching someone else do it.
yeah but i would still like to watch it of course just for the emotional half see how good the animation and setting is. It would be neat of course i would always pic the game but just to see someone play the role of Artyom would be interesting hes a pretty bad ass dude got some balls.
DemBones1012 I'd rather have the movie focus on someone else somewhere else in the metro rather than Artyom. I've read both books and played both games, so I'm pretty familiar with those stories.
And then he was adopted by Sukhoi/Alex when he saved Artyom from the rats. And then Sukhoi raised him in VDNKh. It is amazing how much the game differs from the novel. But, it does keep it fresh the experience while keeping it similar at the same time.
Loved the game since its release but only just seen this amazing piece. Also, I like the fact that its all in Russian and I understand none of the dialogue, gives it more of an impact.
2013: Several people in Moscow have died in a nuclear holocaust. 2033: A soldier (Artyom) walks out the metro to see the world that have become in a post-apocaliptic wasteland.
i love when I am watching a video and thinking "this doesn't make sense", then after the video i scroll down to the comments and see a comment like yours. it makes me happy to see that I am not the only one who is thinking that. 5.45x39 FTW
2024 here, I still don’t understand, why we are, we are people continue destroying everybody, child’s screaming, death, bombs it’s our reality today, if this doesn't stop, we'll see the same picture, only not in the game trailer
Does anyone know if this station-building exist in reallife and how it's called? I searched and found, the inside is the Pecherskaya in Kiev, but didn't find the building...
I live in a small town we use a air siren when it's noon it goes off once when there's a emergency it's goes off 3 times every time it does I think of this trailer
Michael Reed, I know what you mean, in my hometown we have sirens near the factories and they are tested every now and then and each time I wonder “is this it? Will this be the end?”
I agree, I also understand how the video game must be changed for it to work, considering none of the metro stations in the game look like a real metro. As long as the right atmosphere is there and the story is solid... Still a great game cant wait for last light.....
+Yomara Perez No, Artyom still had memorys of walking through the botanical gardens with his mother before the bombs dropped, I think he was about 5 or so when he was taking into the Metro.
+Sauerkraut1337 No, he wasn't born in the metro in books, in fact he finds the old house he and his mother lived in on surface. But he does not remember the surface and he was just a baby when the bombs fell, when they emerged into the metro. He was also a baby, 1 or 2 years old when her mother gets eaten by rats in the metro, but he remembers his mother a little.
