I’ve always been a huge rail buff. I’ll always love trains but after losing my job with Metro North, it is difficult to look back on my time there which was 30 short days. They terminated my probationary status (I was a coach cleaner) for “not meeting the expectations of the training program.” My age was probably a factor in their decision because I was the youngest person in my class of 11 coach cleaners (21). I’m an Amazon DSP driver now based out of Carle Place NY (Long Island). I actually feel appreciated by my bosses at this job. I’m one of the best drivers of my DSP (delivery service partner). The MTA is such a tough organization to get into and I thought I cracked the nut but 30 days later I was given a one way ticket back to the bread line. Even after a phone call I had with their office l, I still don’t know what they were seeing that was so terrible for them to just get rid of me.
