Metro-North Railroad HD 60fps: Riding Bombardier M7A 4036 on Harlem Line Train 648 (7/16/15)

From Southeast to Grand Central Terminal. The ride quality from 4036 is wonderful (no truck pin noise at all), and the Leslie RS2M horn on that car is on point, and the engineer wasn't afraid to use it to its full potential. Also, given the hour of the day, there weren't too many people on the train until North White Plains, so the silence is pretty soothing; you can clearly hear the AC traction equipment humming away without other human distraction. Couldn't have asked for a better ride today to make up for a lack of an M3A RFW. Enjoy =)
PS... can you spot the "lost" M8 train?

In 2022, when I was going on a field trip with my class, I was aboard an m8 from Katonah to Grand Central, and I was like “Say What? What a special treat to get this.”

I guess that lost M8 electric train had a new "S" car and was testing it out. I may have been on the same train as you when I was at Southeast. I was fanning there. And at Harlem Valley-Wingdale.

Occasionally they use them as backups to the M7s and M3s. The same goes for the Hudson Line. They can't run M3s or M7s on the New Haven Line though as it has overhead power.

Mount Pleasant only serves Gate of Heaven and Kensico Cemeteries. There is one train in each direction on weekdays and three trains in each direction on weekends.

The AC motors on the M7s and 8s have a much better sound than the SEPTA Silverliner V's.

Look Out For The Train It's more likely that this was a put-in consist subbing in for M7 equipment that broke down.

Could be, although with all the M7s in the NWP yard I don't know why they used an M8. It is really cool though!

If the equipment faults at GCT, then it makes plenty of sense to use a spare M8 just lying around to pick up the slack.

So this is how it is on the Metro-North Railroad's Harlem Line: The last stop is Southeast, but the track continues. The third rail ends at Southeast, so you need a diesel train to make it to Wassaic, the REAL last stop. Is that correct?

It does, but it has to go on third rail out of Grand Central to get to the Northeast Corridor. And also, the BMW M8 does not exist, even though the 8 series was released.
