@@nexuslord6831 It was really disappointing for me, i was like”holyyy shiiiiit an EMMY with a power bomb? This its going to be awesome” and then Samus just got a random power up and kill him
@@avocadocat3028 thing is that it wasn't just a random power up, it happened after every Emmi fight, she touches it, absorbs its powers and the Emmi dissipates. When I saw it I was confused, but I realised that it was there all along
Say what you will about the red EMMI, but we lucked out not having to fight it given its ability was to drop literal nukes (power bombs) wherever it went. I don’t know if there was even a way to fight that.
To be fair, the blue and purple emmi were programmed to not use their freeze ray or stun beam once you got the omega cannon, so the red one likely would've done the same.
@@MoonfallMidnight even still, between being frozen, stunned, and a literal warhead being tossed at me, I think I know which one sounds like the least fair challenge.
If it used Fusion's version of Power Bombs (which only did 20 damage and that was when you're in the Fusion Suit) then it would've been laughably easy. Now if they were at their full explosive power....
Not only that, but the main threat of purple was that it could literally track you from ANYWHERE in the zone. What would red have to have to be even more of a threat? Beyond the power bombs, obviously. (Which, interesting thing, it uses before it even enters pursuit mode, so there's the very real possibility that had it been an actual proper threat, it would've done that EVERY TIME YOU MADE A SOUND. Talk about annoying!)
It really feels different when the Morph Ball in this game is an item you get midway through the game when in all other titles, you either start with it or it's one of the first, if not the absolute first, items you acquire.
I remember how tons of content creators got to play Dread early for an hour and a half and said they couldn’t get the Morph Ball, but then I managed to get it in under an hour on HARD MODE. Kinda proud of myself for that.
@@ausarthevile2970 Well I mean, surely it's at least a bit easier to know where to go and where things are on a second playthrough, right? Doesn't seem that out of the ordinary compared to people going into it blind, some of those people likely having never played Metroid before either
@@dillonwright13 nah its because of the slide being a thing now. It makes it so they could have depth with the way they make one-tile-high paths and helps make gameplay even smoother than normal for 2D metroid. They dont have to be beholden to making the morphball the first item too.
The EMMI are much more terrifying when you're the one dealing with them. #4 was annoying though. I kept dying to him because he would close the distance too quickly before I could fully fry his armor.
How it should've been done was that you'd encounter it during your escape from ZDR, and then you vaporize its sorry ass with the Hyper Beam. Similar to how you'd deal with the nigh-invulnerable silver Pirates from Super Metroid (they're immune to almost all your conventional weapons, but the Hyper Beam doesn't follow such rules so one shot just deconstructs them into atoms).
@@SoldierOfFate This actually genuinely would've been really funny, but that'd also mean Power Bombs would be locked behind the final boss. Which... I don't feel like that would've worked very well.
@@Hexagonaldonut so, there should’ve been a secret eight EMMI, just for the in-game purpose of watching Samus vaporize it with the Hyper Beam. And hey, the first one didn’t give you a power up, so that one also could’ve not given you one.
Edit: I now know this was a cutscene. It's still pretty cool, I've beaten the game three times and I like the replayability Original: I have no idea if the red EMMI is a cutscene or not. I impulsively pressed the counter buttons and won immediately, so I'm not sure if I was lucky, if this encounter was meant to be easier, or if the cutscene plays by itself 😅
The first time I played, my anxiety would genuinely spike every time I realized I had to re enter the EMMI zones. Hesitated on moving forward and all while in there. Obviously, the feeling dissipated with repeated playthroughs, but I never got tired of the EMMI encounters.
Are we just glossing over how Samus is Metroid herself? After all she can now absorb energy with her hand like a metroid since her blood runs it all in herself.
My personal difficulty ranking: #7. Red EMMI; it doesn’t even do anything and dies. #6. Damaged EMMI; it serves as a tutorial on how to kill it and then dies. #5. White EMMI; it serves as the first REAL EMMI and so therefore it has no special abilities that make it difficult. #4. Blue EMMI; the reason its beat by the first 3 is because… A: its easier to avoid thanks to flash shift, grapple beam, and later spinboost… B: it cant ACTUALLY see you, instead trading its sight for its ability to temporarily freeze you at short range, this makes it pathetically easy to avoid using the phantom cloak. #3. Green EMMI; the reason I put this one higher is cause at this point in the game you don’t have many evasive items, and at least this guy can see. #Roasted (Btw this guy can actually REALLY catch you off guard because of his spawn locations) #2. Purple EMMI; this bish was tough, its pretty much the green EMMI but it can see 10 times better, and through walls, and can fire projectiles at you slower than the blue EMMI is to get out of bed in the morning. #DoubleRoasted The only waining factor is the fact you have flash shift, grapple beam, and spin boost to help you with it. #1. Yellow EMMI; the scary thing about this one is that is just FASTER than you. Couple that with the fact that, the zone you fight it in is strewn with landmines that lead the EMMI directly to you is simply a recipe for a bad time. You also only get one performance enhancing item this time, that being the flash shift which you only get after passing the halfway mark. Moral of the story: Eat your carrots, grow up to be big and strong like yellow EMMI, and hopefully you wont end up a virgin like blue EMMI. #TripleRoasted
Fun fact: All the E.M.M.I.s have their own code names. They can be viewed in the Mission log in the pause menu. E.M.M.I.-07PB which was the Red one didn't have the happiest ending unlike the other 6.
Another fun fact, their codenames indicate the order in which they appear and the item they held. Orange one was the seventh and it held the power bomb so its nickname is 07PB
Ok you've got to stop fcking with me is the E.M.M.I red or orange? This is turning out to be another black blue dress pls I'm gonna have a panic attack
@@viktorthevictor6240 Their colors is based on their weapons. Ice missiles is light blue, Wave beam is purple, and so on. With this in mind, Dread depicts Power Bombs as orange, so the last Emmi is dark orange.
(Damaged) E.M.M.I -01P = not sure, maybe "Powerless"? (White) E.M.M.I -02SM = Spider Magnet (Green) E.M.M.I -03MB = Morph Ball (Yellow) E.M.M.I -04SB = Speed Booster (Blue) E.M.M.I -05IM = Ice Missiles (Purple) E.M.M.I -06WB = Wave Beam (Red) E.M.M.I -07PB = Power Bomb The last two letters of each EMMI's codename are the first letters of the powerups!
Man the red emmi was way too difficult. I couldn’t even beat it. I think the game was feeling sorry for me and let me progress anyway. Kind of embarrassing.
My main problem with the emmi were sometimes I'd just Not be able to make a move Or escape So often I died because the emmi spawned in a bad location and ***wouldn't f_cking leave me alone for 5 seconds***
Yeah I had the same problem with the purple emmi it would see me the second I stepped in the room and would just circle around me while I just stood there as my cloak drained and would spot me before It could recharge so much that a video suggested leading it away go to a place to hide wait a few seconds to get some semblance of distance and then as soon as I move it would give chase and since it was in chase mode I couldn’t leave but for some reason walking a bit to the left undid it so I could leave the room hands down worst emmi encounter
The encounter with the red emmi is so badass! I sorta wish though that samus would have just snapped the sharp point off of the emmi, that would have made it even more badass.
I believe it makes sense in a way that she didn't do it or couldn’t actually. The E.M.M.I.s are basically undestructible since they were made from the most durable materials in the galaxy and the Metroids just take energy without blood or other fluids they just like *"Skadidle Skadoodle, i'm comming for your noodle"*
Thank you so much! I really had trouble with Blue because of the lack of space for attack. My stupid mind forgot it crawls on the ceiling xD Edit: I noticed something funny. I actually would have melted his face when I used the time Blue crawls through the vent. The reason however why the face didn't melt off was because the game is programmed that Blue can only loose his face when on the ceiling, I think. Whenever I did it on the normal ground, the face would only melt to 90% and not more even though I had space. Strange...
Ok, I'm just gonna say this, I absolutely hate the E.M.M.I. segments, not because of the horror, its because of the EXTREMLY strict timing to counter them, and even worst, is that its an INSTANT DEFEAT if you lose to them? Like seriously? I understand that they are like a boss, but that still brutal. I mean seriously tho, fuck the E.M.M.I. segments with a burning passion.
I was going through this entire game worried about the last E.M.M.I thinking "wouldn't it be fucked if it had all the other E.M.M.Is powers at the same time." just expecting some sort of like Final boss scenario
I found that getting up on top of that platform right outside the CU room worked for me, because then it just crawled along the perfectly flat ceiling.
@@heatherirwin1333 yeah I uses the hallway just a bit further down (lines up with the speed booster blocks for the exit) for the yellow EMMI and used the ceiling idea for the Cyan EMMI since there wasn't any other good spots to face it
There is no orange one. you mean the last one ? The hardest to me was yellow & then light blue. Ice emmi always froze me & i never saw it comin. Purple also shoots, but you see it @ least.
Because I know that the X parasites can transfer data organically. What if an x infected an EMMI and make break it's searching limits boundaries!?🤔🤔🤔 Hmmm
Would be funny since you can skip the broken EMMI and never actually take it out. And apparently ice missile EMMI can be skipped as well (though it requires some really annoying bomb jumping in burenia to reach gravity without ice (for the speed booster puzzle shortcut) or the intended space jump route
0:59 I’m just taking a break can you just don’t take my pow- oh there he goes oh god I feel a lot of pain oh god stop pleas… “ded” 2:00 ayo I’m back with fully armour and I’m alive so you will never take my power! Hahahaahahahahahahah- ah sh$t there goes my armour what a bad life I have… “ded”
Also, canonically this takes place much later than Metroid and Super Metroid. So not prototypes, but maybe the Galactic Federation copied her design similar to the Aurora Units in the Prime series.
Imma rank the EMMI based on how hard I though they were hardest to easiest (The orange/red one doesn’t count) 1: Blue EMMI What’s worse than an EMMI? An EMMI you can’t run away from (say what you want about the purple one, at least you can avoid its stun attack) 2: Purple EMMI (Can detect you anywhere but is still easy to get away from) 3: Yellow EMMI (That speed makes it difficult to knock off the cover) 4: Green (fits anywhere and it’s area had tight spaces) 5: White and Damaged EMMI You’re warm up bots so they are going to be easy
I was kinda disappointed by the last EMMIs. The blue one was just annoying, then the purple one completely got rid of the stealth aspect, and then you didn’t even get to fight the last one.
Honestly, they knocked it outta the park with the EMMI's. Your first playthrough? They are downright terrifying, You're just running around the zone like "Go away go away I'm not here!"
I know I’m not the only one disappointed that I couldn’t fight the red EMMI 😑 that is my only complaint about the game other than that this game was a 10/10 ‼️
Wtf, the white emmi, i can't shoot the shielding off it's head. When aiming the omega stream to melt the shielding, samus either aims at the ground or over the emmi's head, no fine tuning the aim to to the correct angle to actually hit the emmi. Anyone else having this issue?
Wtf a red one? I was tired of the repetitive fighting, the purple one over and over. And said fuck it, haven't played the game since then. Ill probably just sell my switch all together. Nintendo is just really something else anymore. With being a single dad on a budget. Nintendo just really sucks.
As I have been commenting on other people's opinions, it is best that I share my thoughts on the red E.M.M.I The fight should have been so much different. In a way, you would have lost access to most areas in the game until then but... Red should have had Screw Attack. Let's be honest, power bomb is nice and all but, it more impairs you than helps despite it killing everything in sight. But Screw Attack is so much more than people would come to think. Screw Attack can be used indefinitely by jumping, which is why it pairs well with Space Jump. On the other hand, power bomb is good but it takes time to set one down. Back to my point, if Red had Screw Attack it would have been levels of op above every other E.M.M.I all because it would jump into you and you had to counter it then to stop it. Picture that won't you? Firstly, an E.M.M.I jumping into you instead of crawling on walls and secondly, countering Screw Attack! You wait for that flash and now you actually have only one chance to counter it instead of two. How two chances? Once while standing, twice while grounded. I have landed many standing counters in my time but only ever two grounded counters, not counting the one in the tutorial. And if you miss that Screw Attack counter, it flips into you obliterating what remains of Samus Aran! Edit: on my current Dread Mode playthrough I have made it an extra challenge to counter an E.M.M.I once before overheating its face plates and once before the finishing blow! Trust me it's way tougher than it seems given the 3.28-4 second delay the first counter and the 2.28-3.28 delay the second time.
how the hell does the power bomb impair you? the fact that it takes time to set means nothing, it's easy to just avoid stuff while setting it, and the fact that it kills everything in sight more than makes up for the short time it takes to set it. screw attack is powerful, but not as powerful as the power bomb, due to the simple fact that it doesn't wipe out everything on the screen in mere seconds, plus, it's a melee attack, so you need to get close to your opponents for it to be effective instead of attacking from a distance, making it avoidable. although an emmi with a screw attack would no doubt be very interesting, the power bombs make it easily the most dangerous. in fact, if it weren't for the metroid dna, it may have been impossible to win.
@@meteorytekrenaryte yeah, never said that a screw attack emmi was a bad thing. it's a really cool concept actually, just that the power bomb emmi would be more powerful. screw attack would be more interesting though, will agree on that.
gg beardbear the white one scared me me: i can kill you broken one broken E.M.M.I: you can beat me?? me:yes can? white E.M.M.I: you can't beat me me:uh no uh no uhno no no no me again:ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!! me last:gg for me "spidier magnet acquired white E.M.M.I: "dies"
imma call it now..the EMMIs in this game where just tests for a possible Metroid Fusion remake down the line..with a SA-X that actully stalks the whole Space station hunting samus down..
Red emmi felt like a cop out would’ve been cool to face an emmi with the ability of power bombs… although story wise yeah that was pretty cool and sets up how much stronger Samus is with the Metroid DNA fully unlocked.
I was really confused and extraordinarily amazed but honestly I really wanted to know how hard it was gonna be with the chase with this nuke of an E.M.M.I
