Released in February 2004, Metroid Zero Mission replaces the original 1986 Metroid in the Metroid universe as a "retelling" of that chapter in Samus's history. At this past Awesome Games Done Quick, $1,025,000 was raised for the Prevent Cancer Foundation. It only took a week of continuous streaming, 18,000 donors, and many many runners to achieve. A big thanks to everyone responsible for these amazing numbers, what a humbling achievement. For comparison, last year's event raised just under $500,000.

I remember it taking every fiber of my being to claw through Hard mode at 15%... These Metroid runners always bring such technique and mastery to their playthroughs, and it's always a joy to watch. Keep up the fine work.

I thought the commentary was interesting and Kirb did a great job explaining everything and making it interesing. And I don't know where the fuck are people getting this constant "cut-in front of everyone" from. He very clearly stops when someone is talking. Great job to you as well.

Holy shit, PB *AND* an RTA world record on his first try at a live marathon? That's just amazing. Especially when just completing this challenge at all would be extremely difficult no matter how slow you took it--doing it in less than 70 minutes is just insane.

SaltyWaffles It's a 2D game AND you can freeze your enemies. Nice run but it can't be that hard to complete from what ive seen. The only challenge is knowing where to go

steven Claessen Being 2D doesn't mean anything, neither does being able to freeze enemies in the end parts of the game. Till you've played it you don't know how hard it is. He's doing low% on hard mode which means he's taking 40 damage from most enemies with only a max health by the end of 200 HP. Freezing enemies only happens on the latter quarter/half of the game and it isn't that useful except for the Metroids which require it for which he has to calculate every move he makes due to how low his ammo is. He's still taking tons of damage from anything with a hitbox so just a few shots could finish him off even when he's fully powered up. Knowing where to go is the least of his problems. Some people shouldn't speak without knowing what they're talking about. Then again, some people simply shouldn't speak.

I remember trying to low percent this game ages ago - also exactly how long it took before I gave up. Without a route I just made it to Ridley - after countless deaths - and gave up on him. So watching this is really awesome. Always amazing to watch a master going at it.

I think if the donation in tourain and kirbymastah wasn't talking the whole time through that area, he wouldn't of died. Its good commentary, but there are times where it doesn't need to. Donations are important, but needs to read after the run if its a big one. The reader should know where the hardpoints are even if serious time isn't called.

Doing this Hard run years ago on my GBA, raging and going to GameFAQS constantly...I watch this run and totally dig it so much more. What he pulled off took me so many hours: the wall jumps, the bosses with limited missiles, the bomb jumps, avoiding so many pick ups right in your way, and ultimately doing the entire last segment without your suit and the final part where you gotta pull off two boss fights while avoiding getting OHKO. Much respect!

There's an accessory called the Game Boy Player that attaches to the bottom of the Gamecube. (Make sure you get the corresponding Game Boy Player disc too - that's needed for the GCN to read the GBA cart!)

I think it's just the intensity generated from concentration. Whenever he talks it takes his mind away from whatever he is doing in the game so he has to be very short and to the point.

A lot of folks set aside a certain amount to donate per year, for churches and charities and etc. Many donate 10% or more of their salary. If you do it right you can mark it on your taxes and then you get back like 20-30% of what you donated in tax return. It's a nice thing to do and the gov't incentives help.

While this defeats the purpose of a low percent run. It'd be have been faster to get the 4 missiles that were OVBIOUSLY on his path and he avoided and use them against the metroids, the zebetites, and Mother brain. 10 seconds worth of "You have accuired a missile expansion" saving you about 15 minutes of metroids, walls, and brains.

I thought the low percent in this game would be just doing huge skips. However... you just collect a few items and beat the game with it. This category is just scary as shit. Doesn't help it's on a hard difficulty and it's a speedrun

Random Number Generator / Generation. Programs and computers can't give real randomness, so there are "secret" programs at work that try to randomize stuff. Manipulation of boss behavior and stuff is sometimes possible when people figure out the RNG-code. For example, newer pokemon games give pokemon random stats, and we know that your date in the calander alters the RNG, so setting your gameboy settings on april 12th gives the best bulbasaur.
