mewithoutYou - [untitled] e.p. (Full EP Stream) 

I love that they split a softer, experimental EP from what will certainly be a much heavier album. They're appealing to fans of both styles. Also, August 6th may be one my favorite new songs.

One time I asked Aaron if he had advice for a spiritual seeker like me. He responded "Advice? No. I have tea."

Okay this album has grown on me. Goddamit I love mewithoutYou so much.

I've seen some comments about this one lacking energy, so I wanted to share what I just read on the band's website: "As a result the band divided up the material into two distinct releases: The aggressive and chaotic full-length and a conversely pensive and melancholy EP, both untitled. This [untitled] e.p. reflects an uncommon style for the typically heavy mewithoutYou as they use instrumental space and electronic elements to create a rock album with an explicitly meditative intent." So, it looks like this EP is an alternative, experimental style, not demonstrative of the upcoming album. The EP is nice and grows on me the more I listen to it. It's nice in the background while I'm working, and I'm enjoying crawling through the lyrics.

I asked Aaron in a Dallas show (2015) what his biggest fear was at the time. He said "being cheated on". Appreciated his honesty and vulnerability, keep up the inspirational work MWY

Kristy w/ the Sparkling Teeth might be their most out-of-character track ever. When 99% of your work is intensely experimental, the 1% that sounds like an acoustic Pink Floyd track is truly the most experimental.

i am absolutely in love with this ep. really digging the more mellow, atmospheric, post-rock kinda vibe. it suits the general style of aaron's vocals really well and just sounds... fresh and different. i'm still looking forward to the full album in all its roughness, though, don't get me wrong. i like both sides (or ALL sides for that matter) of mwY, so i'm stoked we get to hear both of them with these new releases. it seems that they can sense exactly when i need their music the most, too. so, thank you. i love you guys.

First listen & i'm really not into it. I get it, bands change over time, but this is just like a clutter of the slow tracks I would have skipped over on their previous albums. Without the raw energy MWY just isn't the same.
