Claudia Sheinbaum has been elected as Mexico's first female president, in a historic landslide win. One month on, weekly announcements of ministers occur. Glenn Jessome believes Sheinbaum's choices indicate a brighter future for the country and it's mining industry.
Glenn is the founding shareholder of Silver Tiger Metals Inc. and he oversaw the listing of the Company on the TSXV. Glenn is a securities lawyer with 25 years of resource sector capital markets experience and he currently serves as a member of the TSXV National Advisory Committee. Glenn is Corporate Secretary and a founding shareholder of Gogold Resources Inc., another company for which he oversaw the listing on the TSX. Glenn received his Law Degree and MBA from Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia and holds a Science Degree from Saint Francis Xavier University in Antigonish, Nova Scotia.

I’m Mexican and I voted with absolute conviction for Sheinbaum. It was clear for me that she was the best option by far, sharing the same ideological values that made AMLO immensely popular (por el bien de todos, primero los pobres= we all benefit if the poor are the priority) but also a highly intelligent and well prepared academic. As her landslide win demonstrated, the majority of the people here have high hopes on her and are looking forward for her presidency!

Mining companies in Mexico should pay a percentage of everything they extract to the national treasure like 5 percent of silver, gold, copper, etc. They pay very little in taxes, specialy canadian mining companies.

I did a search on her Twitter / X account and she speaks pretty consistently against mining in Mexico since 2012. Do you feel she had a sudden change of heart after 12 years of opposition? Why would a politician suddenly change their tune during an election year?

As long as you respect the environment, laws, and not get involved with criminals to kick local ancestral communities off their land, Welcome to México. PS I wrote this until I heard you want to keep doing open pit mining and destroy the environment. I really hope our government keeps the ban - you just don’t care about our country, you just want the 💰

@@sophiavega1777Claudia Sheinbaum has an environmental doctorate, and Alicia Barcenas - the new secretary of environment, current secretary of foreign affairs is a biologist. I firmly believe she will not cancel the ban.

There is violence but media exaggerates a lot. I live in Monterrey and I do my life very normal. I go out at night to have fun and since 2011 I've never been under a shooting as you in other countries may think we live.

You need to stop watching Netflix that only shows violent dramas from Mexico. Also, American news outlets only focus on any issues that may appear to be a violent incident in Mexico. South American and Central American countries have a higher violence rates in terms of robberies, kidnaping, murder rates than Mexico. Most people don't realize that there are over one million Americans living in Mexico. Some move there to retire and to have a more affordable way of life. So when one American is robbed or killed in Mexico the American media explodes. Statistically speaking the more Americans move to any foreign country the more likely that some would be exposed to violence depending on where they go. Even in the US there are very violent cities that most people with common sense would not go there.
