The Taco guy stopping in the middle of the trail for a shot of tequila was easily the best part of the video 🤣 It looks like he’s not getting invited on the next run lol

That was my first time in Sonora. Yeah that checkpoint was BS, but i know that in Baja, the further South you go, the better it gets. Never had those issues South of Ensenada/San Felipe.

@@76bigbo like you said, big groups is the way to go. Not long ago they were pulling people over and stealing their vehicles south of San Felipe, between Gonzaga bay and cocos corner. From what I heard nobody got hurt but imagine being without a vehicle that far south? On the pacific side you have to be careful around San Quintin, thats a hotspot but after el rosario I do feel it gets safer and more beautiful too.

I heard about the issues South of SF, never had issues in SQ. The good thing about a Raptor is that if i have to evade someone for any reason, they wont catch me! Aso quick tip, I always bring an expired ID. If a cop asks for my DL i give him that one. Once they have your DL they think they own you. Keep it MO FO, im out!

Good video Helio. I also have to say as a Mexican and Raptor owner it's always somewhat scary driving a Raptor or just a nice truck down to that area. All Baja peninsula is safe for Raptor Runs since it's "relatively" free of cartel activity but venturing into Sonora and further south it's definitely a No go. There are ilegal stops/cartel stops asking for bribes/mordidas. They can even take your truck if they want to. So yes, Mexico is gorgeous and it's packed with super nice people but gotta be careful driving these trucks Cartel enjoys driving and having for free. BTW I'm your Temecula neighbor. Will hit you up through Instagram for one of your runs.
@KeepItDirtyOffRoad
@KeepItDirtyOffRoad Год назад
Yeah, Baja is definitely safer and going with a large groups helps reduce the likelihood of cartels, cops, or the military messing with you period. But on your own with a really nice truck and your asking for trouble. Plenty of videos online of the attempts to steal nice vehicles that have gone viral over the years.

@KeepItDirtyOffRoad
@KeepItDirtyOffRoad Год назад
It happens in Baja too. Just not as often south of Ensenada. Check the comments for some people’s experiences. Most don’t talk about it. Specially on social media because they don’t want to scare anyone from coming down. Many running tour businesses down there so it’s bad for business to show all the bad. But even down there it does happen. Checkpoints are all over and if you do something dumb like speeding in the cities or something illegal, you can expect a cop in any Mexico city will want his bribe to let you go.

We heard of the cartel activity as well. But I feel like the cartel won’t want to mess with the bad press and action that comes with an American tourists getting hurt. They’ll mess with individual for sure, but not groups. I would be more concerned with the cops and these illegal checkpoints that we showed here. And Baja is definitely the better place to go. Less issues with all of them.

@jibrilthegreat35 Год назад
@@KeepItDirtyOffRoad that light house where you guys went up, is known as “el machorro”. It used to be a hotspot for american sand enthusiasts to go and have races up it. People would take their sand vehicles and spends lots of time there. And well since the violence broke out, these same people on the north side of the border are just starting to not go anymore. The illegal check point you ran into is also controlled by one of the cartels, all that area is controlled by it and no random people would just decide to set up a check point. And whats sad is that violence happens at any time anywhere, I witness a big narco shootout in San Luis Rio Colorado 2 weeks ago, on a saturday at noon in a high traffic area. Sad thing is my wife and kids were with me. In Sonora its pretty much out of control, like you said Baja is a little bit safer. But you still have to be careful.
