A voice made for a cathedral as heard here. A unique timbre absolutely & I will now search out that moving solo from ALEXANDER NEVSKY which will quite possibly equal or surpass even the Ewa Podles interpretation. A few minutes after I wrote this I located the NEVSKY piece. Both Arkhipova & Podles are superb & memorably moving in the Nevsky piece. Thanks so much for posting this.
First time hearing this truly golden voiced singer. Thanks for posting. (Hearing all the current crop of Russian singers at the MET, I can't believe how wobbly and sub-standard they are compared to this).
How do you feel about Anna Netrebko? Of the contemporary opera performers, who do you consider worthy of attention?
@@vladimirvv4650 Hello Vladimir. I always loved Hvorostovsky's seamless vocal line and, of course, beautiful voice. He sang Verdi better than any of his peers. An added note/suggestions: if you enjoy the baritone voice, you should check out Fernando Texteira (I think!). I found him on youtube and he was fantastic (never had heard of him). Take care.
