I love how you actually analyze the lyrics. A lot of people shit on DOOM cuz they just think he’s muttering random shit in a monotone voice. But if you actually listen to the lyrics the shit he’s saying is insane. He was an amazing writer. RIP.

Sugar coated lard squares are candies. Like gummies. Because they are made out of pork and Doom lived under Muslim principals. A lot of people don't know that gummie candy, marshmallow and anything made with gelatin is pork. They try to sneak it to you.

I met Doom at Sono Tech in Chicago. He came in without the mask and nobody knew it was him. I recognized him right away and said what up "Zev Love". We chopped it up for about 10 minutes. He left and hit the bathroom and put the mask on and hit the DJ booth. He didnt perform but actually came to DJ. All the white kids swarmed the stage like they were seeing Michael Jackson in the flesh. He DJ'd an exclusive set of rare remixes and songs he did with Ghost Face & Kool Keith, etc. #RIP #Doom 🙏🏾♥️

You will never catch everything DOOM is saying in one listen. You really need to sit with his music for a while to fully digest it. This song is basically about hip hop being about lyrics first and foremost and the marketing behind it really being superfluous. That's why he attacks the topless dudes on CD covers because the marketing behind them is about everything other than the music. He's also advising other MCs not to partake in beefs due to it causing stress or at worst being fatal. He also cautions listeners about their dietary choices which also pertains to what kind of music you absorb.

Also part of the sample is from the old Buck Rogers TV show from the early '80s which is what jumped out to me the first time I heard it I'm like is this fool sampling Buck Rogers?! Go back and watch the intro to that 80's Buck Rogers show and you'll see.

I always interpreted "drop dead joints hit the whip like bird shit, they need like a hole in their head, or a third tit" as drop dead meaning flops,bad,wack ect. Joints (tracks) hit the whip like bird shit (get played in a car) they need like a hole in their head, ect meaning you don't need 3 tits and definitely don't want a hole in your head. I think he's referring to wack rappers not himself. I hope this made sense cause I really tried to word this right 😂
