Marvel Comics recently published their first Doctor Doom comic since the year 2000. The first lines in the entire comic read: "living off of borrowed time, the clock ticks faster." Fly high, Daniel.
The guy playing the accordion in the background is actually the composer of the original track which Madlib took the sample from. His name is Daedelus and the song is "Experience". Just keep ya eye out like aye aye captain.
0:52 has to be one of my favorite musical moments ever. Madlib brings in that bass at _exactly_ the right moment, when the listener has had enough time to get accustomed to just the drums and sample. Then all of a sudden it's complimented flawlessly by that lo-fi bass tone. Gives me chills and a stupid grin on my face every single time.
I think it hits so nicely because it comes in during the second bar of the measure, instead of the first where you'd expect it to. You also hear the second half of the bassline first. Then the next measure gives you the full phrase. It's like hearing the response to a question and only getting to hear what the question was after the fact. It works both rhythmically and thematically. Madlib doesn't miss.
It's been said that a man dies twice: First, when his body fails him and a second time when his name his uttered for the last time ever. We won't allow DOOM to die again.
@@ricknmorty88 I know it’s true, I’m just surprised it got this many likes in such little time, everyone else commenting around the time you did got like 0 likes and you’re just here with like 600 lol
how the fuck did this man just fit all the vibes I’ve been looking for in one video? Look at the walls, look at the red door, listen to the lyrics, this is like a dream
“Know he’s the illest ever, like the greatest story told” I prefer to think of this line in these times of mourning. This line makes me think of DOOM’s storybook career. After subroc’s death and KMD getting booted from the label DOOM fell on hard times, became homeless, put on the mask, and came back better than ever... He had a real life supervillain origin story...
This video is fucking perfect. The surreal cinematography, the fact that the entire video seems to be in black and white, aside from one ominous red door, the haunting accordion matching DOOM’s deep, gravelly voice, the depressing lyrics, the sudden cuts, the woman dancing in the back, the man who made the sample for this song playing the accordion in the back, the way MF DOOM shakes his mic around, the shot of the camera moving back from the accordion player, and the shot of him raising his hands to the beat at the start, it all adds up to this video just having a feel you dont get with a lot of media, let alone a 2 minute long music video. What I’m saying is that not only is accordion a musical and lyrical masterpiece, but a visual one as well. This song, album, and MF DOOM as an artist were and are truly once in a lifetime. How DOOM and Madlib managed to make an album this perfect will never cease to amaze me. REST IN POWER MF DOOM 1971-2020
I forget he is dead sometimes. I used have panic attacks multiple times a day. This song got me through them so many times. RIP DOOM. You with your son and brother now. Maybe in Heaven you and Nujabes can make a record for when I get there some day.
I never cry. These news got me in fucking shambles. I was 14, misguided and unsure of myself. Then I heard this song and I started to delve into his music. The man changed my life, he taught me to be myself - Fuck what everybody else thinks, just be you. I have Doom to thank for that.
same bro I got into him when I was 18 bored as hell at an office job, clocking in everyday listening to DOOM, or other rappers using his beats like Joey Badass.
I got into when I was 3 and he basically changed me for the better. He inspired me so much, and his music still effects me today. I listened to his music through the good, through the bad, through the ugly. I had DOOM in my life when even my family and friends weren't. I'm going to miss this man. I cried so hard and still am 5 days later. R.I.P. MY HERO, THE VILLAIN.
LOL. I see the appeal but I can't get into his content. I don't get into Tech9 Either and he is like the underground god of all gods in american hip hop at the subterranean level
This man was possibly the most influential rapper in the world. He didn’t rap about bitches and giving head. He rapped about being hungry, and food, and taking over the world RIP MF DOOM REMEMBER ALL CAPS
I hate me a lot for not known MF DOOM before he died What a underground legend I never was so hooked about a rapper until now "Madvillainy" is a awesome album, but in special this song has something, something sad, something amazing, something nostalgic, something... IDK what has this song I feel like I want to die right now... But with a smile in my face. RIP sweet legend, thanks for gift to us amazing lyrics and amazing projects
The melancholic tone makes me think of how I too will one day fade away. I conjure imagery of the final moments, replaying my life's memory one final time. DOOM FOREVER
RIP. Living off borrowed time, the clock tick faster... Our mad villain has died in Oct 31 2020, the scariest day of the scariest year, at age 49. Your music will be forever remembered, MF DOOM. Despite being the illest villain, you are a hero to me and a lot of other people. Rest in peace
First line that came to mind when I heard the news. Gone but never forgotten the greatest VILLAIN to ever do it. At least he can rest with his son now.
But yeah it's totally comprehensible that you would only read the headline. It's heavy stuff that affects people personally, so reading all the way through could be torturing, so I do not condemn it. But correcting and insulting people without first informing yourself properly is a behavior that I advise you to correct as soon as possible
ive been listening to this song for 13 years now. there is no one like DOOM and there never will be. May he and his sons rest in peace. the true villian we all loved.
In living the true Gods, giving y'all nothing but the lick like two broads Got more lyrics than the church got "Ooh Lord's" And he hold the mic and your attention like two swords One of the best quartets.
DOOM was the kind of artist who should've received an endowment. That is, if our country cared about its arts and culture. He sacrificed nothing for success. He straight up did HIS thing, and no one else's, for no one but himself. He also could properly identify greatness in his field (harder than it appears), and he competed not for bitches and fandom but for true supremacy amongst those others who knew...just what it meant to be the best. I'm more into the rock guitar world, and in that arena the guy I can think of who comes closest is Jeff Beck. Not the most commercial or stupid good songs, but he's done shit with his playing over his career that makes you realize he never stopped trying to both get better and also let his buddies Clapton and Page know who was best. That's the kind of spirit DOOM reminds me of. I'm glad my friends introduced me to his work in college.
Because I'm a heavy hip hop purist and I'm actually TRYING to immerse myself in his artwork to see what everyone else sees. Shits frustrating bc I hear a lot of trash and weirdo shit for drug addicts
G o D School shooters? Anyway - I like his delivery. I'm not only a fan of Doom though- I'm versatile. So saying that Doom is for one type of person is like generalizing everyone who has a pickup. it is weird. You don't have to like it. Welcome to the ways of the world.
@@ElliasFrederic wow can't believe it's been a year since I left that comment lol thanks for keeping the cycle alive. I'll try to remember to reply again to your comment a year from now 👍
SkinoGreeneVu I pick up on something new every time I hear it. Like that "Bring his own needles" line, I only recently realized that it could mean a record player's needle also.
“You die once when you stop breathing and your heart stops beating. You die a second time when someone says your name for the last time” Never forget the illest villain RIP MF DOOM
Ive been very deeply sad about other artists dying before but nothing hit me like when DOOM died man im 31 and have been listening to him for the longest time dude it still hurts that hes gone. Its like it isnt real
Got into DOOM in October of this year, it's absolutely terrifying to think that only about 2 weeks after I started really listening to his discography that he passed. I wish I could confidently believe that this whole thing is some elaborate prank from Dumile himself but it just ain't... From the first time I listened to a DOOM song I was immediately enveloped. Thanks for all the villainy :(
My exact story, he got me through a weird semester and I was completely encapsulated with his persona, music, and genius. Although I am not a long time fan, I will never forget this legend the impact his music has had on me. Rest in Power.
This is kinda the beauty of the internet. I been listening to DOOM since 02 but people can just get up to speed in a minute now and be blessed. I'm glad you found your way here Yalda.
this song is ultimate melancholy, this can be so disturbing and cold when you want it to but then when you flip your mind the other way around its beautiful and endearing
@@ryandr7470 Well a lot of people say it means that he’s so good at the mic that there is no point to even go after him. But I think it means that ain’t nobody going after him because it all ends with him, he’s the headliner, the main event. He’s the one people are going to see. No different than Drake, all of artists open up for Drake but at the end of the night the main even is Drake performing and after his performance nobody else is going to perform after because the show will be over. And you could apply the same logic to sports like Floyd Mayweather hes the main event of a boxing match and after his match of the night ain’t anymore for the night because it all ends with him. Look at Drake ,Floyd Mayweather, Tupac, Mike Tyson they are all the crème de la crème of their fields and the show ends with them. So when “they are at the mic you don’t go next” because you’re not on their level so you will only open up for them but never go after them. And MF DOOM was in the same realm like these guys , so when he was at the mic nobody went next, Because he’s the best of the best.
@@IAMSOUND99 a tad bit different man but if that’s your interpretation of it, then that’s all they matters. That’s the whole point of art everyone views and interprets it differently.
Happy Bday DOOM 🤘🏾🔥🙏🏾💯❤️ you’ll never be forgotten at all I played this song with my brother and our father he said “I like this guy” I told him that’s MF DOOM All caps when spell his name
@@froglifes6829 idk man, they all seem to be good... but ok hear me out, what if... they are all THE SAME PERSON?!? i know it sounds crazy, but its possible!
