That's the thing about his music. You can listen to one DOOM song 50 times and still be trying to find all the different subtle meanings. He's so original and unique that nobody will be like him. And I'm okay with that.
"Then he hit him straight to the head like Reggie Denny" - Reginald Denny was the truck driver who got pulled out of his truck during the LA riots and had his head smashed with a cinder block. DOOM never fails to impress me with his ability to tie in obscure references like that.
I think it's his first best album every song is off the hook, couldn't wait for the next song to come next because I know it's dope after dope of songs in the whole album
Viktor the director flip a script like Rob Reiner The way a lotta dudes rhyme their name should be "knob shiner" For a buck, they'd likely dance the Jig or do the Hucklebuck To Vik it's no big deal, they're just a buncha knuckle-fucks. That's such an amazing set of bars
Shoutout to the editor this shit can't be easy going through every frame with rhymes to sync it with the highlighter. Not enough ppl give credit. Also this song fire bro RIP DOOM.
'how son became a big man from a black boy, to name names a really big fan of dan akroyd' , this is top 3 lines of all time for me and i have no idea why
i don't even know how DOOM knew what Hokuto Shinken and Nanto Suicho Ken is. guessed he watched a little bit of hokuto no ken. if he did that's kinda sick
Out of all his albums Vaudeville Villian is his best album to me and all of his albums are incredible. This album is so anti mainstream, dark, and also shows cases his abstract flow is so Hip-Hop and can adapt to any sound music wise you could give him a beat tape of country music instrumentals and it would be dope.
I don't necessarily agree about it being anti mainstream. This is his most hip-hop album and probably the most accessible one. All tracks hit hard as fk and it's not as complex in production and style as Madvillainy. There is also no skits taking entire songs like happened on TMTYL, they are pretty simple and catchy here and some serve as a way to make guest features shine (like the open mic night ones).
I actually think this way is better because i puts all of his hits under one place to find . I think sometimes people might not realize how many bangers he has since they think they are not the same people . To this day i'm still finding songs from him that i didn't know existed .
I fucking knew I was peaking through the curtains. Damn if this don’t say what more do people need?! Wtff!!?? Just watch this video. He literally is spelling it all out in a verse. Wtff?!!
Yo if y’all can’t comprehend the knowledge doom blessed y’all with. Y’all don’t deserve it. Straight up ! I said it!! His shit is 9th Dan level Jedi mind shit. This man was way beyond his time and ours!! Just really break down the vaudeville villain first verse. That’s all it takes. It’s all in there.
