Much appreciated. I tried the extender a couple weeks ago and had the same result. I'll try the counterpoise tomorrow. I actually did customize a mag mount in the past for counterpoise, so I'll try that tomorrow. 73. 😁
There’s a reason MFJ has their nickname. Hihi. Glad you’re able to get it to load now. It will be interesting if you can load 60 and 75 meters now too.
It is possible that I have misinterpreted what you are doing here. I've watched the video several times and it looks to me as if you are connecting what you are calling the counterpoise to the driven portion of the antenna. A counterpoise should be connected to the shield side of the coax. I think what you have done is to physically extend the length of the driven element of the antenna, not to add a counterpoise. If you have a volt ohm meter could you please check the connectivity between the end of the so-called counterpoise where it is wrapped around the antenna and the shield of the coax if that is possible. I think you have the right idea but I'm afraid you've connected your extra piece of wire to the driven element of the antenna rather than to the shield side of the magnetic mount. W2MIC
Could 4 or those MFJ-1600T be connected together? This would be to make a broadband HF mobile antenna for NVIS. BTW my ham sticks are mounted to the vehicle and bonded. The mag mounts don’t work well for me. When I ditched the mag mount I started talking to Asia and Europe on 10m before that not much at all.
