This is hands down the best type of review on a MFJ product. I watched and enjoyed the entire series of videos. Thank you very much.

Very useful set of videos that helped me with my IC7300 MFJ998 setup. Thank you.

Excellent review. I noticed that antenna 1 and the wire connection on the rear are tied together. So I think it is possible to have a long wire on each, with proper ground system and it would tune. Also, I see a use for this for me to run two dipoles in phase. Both fed with equal lengths of 50 ohm coax you'd have an impedance of 25 ohms. I did something like this in the past when I had 2 ten element wire beams on 40 meters fed in phase. I'll be doing that again sometime but I really like this tuner!

I have Two different transceivers connected to my amplifier so I believe I would need to use the Automatic setting as well at least when using one of the radios? I run the ICOM 7610 & ICOM 9100 with the ICOM PW-1 amplifier.

Thanks for uploading this. I ordered the 929 or the smaller version of your tuner. My rig is a Yaesu ft-101b. I will probably have to bypass tuner to tune radio first, then drop power, then engage auto tuner. I bought the 929 mainly because of auto tune and Freq. Counter. Should I expect to tune AM? What should I do with LSB/USB? I read that these tuners do not display SSB. Your thoughts please. Thank you. 73

Serious question: Why, when it initially tunes to 1:1 and you start transmitting, the SWR goes higher? It doesn't do this with a manual tuner. I just bought the MFJ998 and this is disappointing to me.

Great video!!!! Question re the amp enable in n out’s. Will these also pass the ‘amp delay’, from the icom 7300’s relay ‘out’ connector, to the amp, as if I had a direct cable going from the 7300 to the amp?? Im assuming so, as there is only one relay connect on the 7300. Thanku soo much. Billy

Any "delay" setting that a rig has is independent of the attached peripheral because the rig controls the delay, not the peripheral. So whether the peripheral is an amp or a tuner, it will work just fine.

@@tuckmeat Another question. I hv the amp enable hooked up to my amp and all are running well! Question: With the amp on(opr), not in standby, can I re-tune the mfj-998, just to touch up the swr, or do I need to switch the amp to standby? I am thinking NO, because the amp enable id hooked up, but I may be wrong. Thanku again, Billy

@@WILLIAMPERRELLI You can leave the amp on to touch up the power. Although, it is more courteous to other operators to do it at lower power.

@@tuckmeat Correct! Just wanted to be sure it was ok for the amp. And yes! Thanku Billy

I have question I hope you can answer, assuming the same amplifier and tuner. Once you are tuned, and your in a qso. Will the tuner suddenly start tuning again for some reason because you are running with the amp on? Or, do you put the tuner in some mode to keep that from happening. Thanks, K4KAL

It does not re-tune when power is applied. Once it finds the correct match, you're good to go.

I don't see how that can take 1.5Kw and you look at Palstar and other tuners and they have large coils inductors and capacitors that make this look like a toy.

100 watts yea but 1.5 kw I don't think so.
