I'm handing my full frame camera gear to a beginner while I'm using a micro four thirds setup as an experienced wildlife photographer. In this video, we are going to see whether full frame or micro four thirds really matters... and seeing who gets the better shots.

Great video Jeremy. I absolutely love your photos of the Egret, GBH and the Night Heron. My favorite photo btw.... Thank you so much for sharing.

MFT isn't compact or affordable, especially when you convert the spec to FF equivalent

I am FF cinematogrpaher, but my first cameras were MFT, and its what I am still using if I go outside for wak into the woods or lake and take some bird pics. In video, light is always a limitant factor, but in wildlife photography 90% of the time you have much more light than you need. For me, portability and mobility wins the battle against the low noise fight. Those black heron shots are dope, btw.

Those Black Crowned Night Heron shots ! WoW ! :) Honestly, I'm sure the gear doesn't make "as much" of a difference as the photographer :) Your stuff is phenomenal :)

Awesome video, however, I shoot dual EM1x, and the 300 f4, 40-150 f2.8 and other pro lenses, and your Olympus OM-1 and the 300 f4 is more like $5000 ... and for me, mft puts more pixels on target without cropping. also, confidence comes from experience, not equipment so much. Cheers!

Just came across this great video and must say I like the images from 300mm f4 more. Maybe because I love eye-level bird photos. Or just because I'm used to seeing pictures made by smaller sensor since my current setup is a Nikon v2 pairing to 300mm f4 pf lens giving me 810mm@ f4. I don't crop much so wouldn't mind a little noise as well.

That Olympus 300mm f/4 is a pretty solid lens that's for sure! One of my favorites I've used.

Hi Jeremy. I noticed you have exchanged your G9 + 100-300 with S1R + Sigma 150-600. How many stops of light have you gained? My calculations say about 4EV (max. usable ISO from 1600 to 6400, lens at long end from 600 f/11 equivalent to real 600 f/6.3). I'd like to make similar jump but I hesitate due to huge increase in overal weight of the kit and I'm trying to justify it somehow. Is it worth going FF or just buy Panasonic's 200 f/2.8 with 1.4 TC? What is your opinion?
@JeremyNeipp
@JeremyNeipp Год назад
Hey there! Yea I did so a few years back. Theoretically I’ve gained 2 stops from the sensor size aperture adjustments and then I believe another 1 1/2 or 2 stops from max useable ISO on the S1R. However, if I go with a camera like my S5II, I gain about 4 more stops of max usable ISO as that thing is a beast in low light. So depending on your camera model will obviously vary that number. But for me, it’s 100% worth the extra weight and personally, I wouldn’t get the 200mm 2.8 with TC but rather switch into FF. That’s my opinion though :)

@siejacyzamet1192 Год назад
@@JeremyNeipp Thanks, just as I thought. Would you recommend S5II over S1 or S1R?
@JeremyNeipp
@JeremyNeipp Год назад
@@siejacyzamet1192 100% would recommend over the S1. In comparison to the S1R I’d recommend the S5II over it to 90% of people. The exceptions would be if you really make use of that 48MP sensor, and/or you don’t shoot as much low light, and if you’re also good at manual focusing since the S5II is miles better at AF than the S1R.

For long trekking trips or long wall climbs there's nothing that strikes the perfect balance of quality and portability like the M43 system. If you are climbing a 500m vertical wall and want to photograph birds, insects and rare bromeliads, in addition to incredible views, there is no better tool! Just that: knowing how to choose the right tool for the job! The rest is snobbery or inexperience.

Why use a Panasonic? They have some of the worst AF cameras in the biz! Nowhere near Sony & Canon. Even worst than Nikon.
@JeremyNeipp
@JeremyNeipp Год назад
I’d argue that Panasonics newest AF is better than Canon in most ways. Maybe you haven’t seen it before since they released their new phase detect? Look up pretty much any RU-vidrs review of it and you’ll see

If you just take the exposure parameter and the angle of view, it`s a 600mm/4.0.

in this day and age, a cheap camera is almost as good as a professional camera. Of course, the image quality depends on the photographer and their composing.
