Man, when you know your music's good, you don't really need any of that shit. Look at the musical trajectory of the bands that do that (and I'm sure we'll think of one or two commonly) and you'll understand much .
@@joebenson528honestly putting Batushka in the same box with Mgla is a monumental insult to Mgla. Come on... You take out the atmosphere and visuals from Batushka and it becomes nothing. Sorry.
Who else literally got goosebumps when saw the notification and then ran to listen to this like an alienated? Never had a sacred time like this since Exercises in Futility.
And let's not forget, Dude, that keeping wildlife, um... an amphibious rodent, for... Um, ya know domestic... Within the city... That ain't legal either.
Listen to "tooth enamel and concrete" by Cattle Decap, I love that opening sound too (doesn't have the same atmospheric quality the black metal fandom likes tho so the song is optional)
Forgot my headphones at home today (first time in the whole damn year). 30 minutes later I got this album notification. This kind of events can drive a man insane. I barely survived the next 10 hours.
Nice to see, that you appreciate their work spending money on their relaeses! If we talk about BM, I like them probably the most too, but I also very like Burzum.
Love the move they pulled with the cover on this one! Showing us only part of it with the song they released and now being able to see the full picture, sorta speak, there is so much more. Bravo!
They did the same with exercises in futility - just showing the arms - if I remember correctly. The fucked up Sleipnir looks great but overall the cover, for me, looks kind of weird -- but who cares, the Music is as great as expected
I have viewed and reviewed this. Studied the lyrics. I've come to the following conclusion: Love you guys. What a bleak view. All hails to Polska. I also have a little anecdote: When I had my journeyman exam, I made some critical mistakes on the workpiece and was within a hair's width of surrendering. The words " do you believe in victory, or do you hail defeat" came to mind and reinvigorated my doing to the effect of ending within the top 3 of my class. Thank you.
Now it's time to accept that Mgla is one of the best (Black) Metal bands of all time. They know they're in a new epoch, they criticize the modern humanity and they knew perfectly how to evolve from the message to the sound to become a style, a new way to create pure and epic Black Metal. They're geniuses, and I'm glad I'm alive in their time.
@Heca stahp pls :v Groza is excellent too, along with their early EPs. But their crowning achievements are definitely WHTN, EIF, and now AOE (in my opinion)
@@sirmanfred6083 I wouldn't say mediocrity exactly I mean I like their music, but people do get carried away with all this best black metal band/album bullshit.
This is one of the best metal (not only black metal) albums I have ever heard! The feeling in the last 5 minutes especially... that was phenomenal! Mgla are the evidence that quality still exists in black metal!
@@juannapoles Dude I am not sure they are gonna go anywhere outside of Europe. I don't think they have ever come to a single major city in the US based on the few times I had tracked their tours schedule in the past. I take it that they probably don't have the finances to support doing international touring at all. Plus their fanbase is smaller than mainstream metal bands so that does not help either.
@@Ecclesiastes11718 It feels as if they're somehow criticizing, while also acknowledging man's view of what is good and what is not. It's not the blackness that is eating our souls, and not the light that will bring salvation, but the gray that is grinding us into dust, with our consent.
I think one of the best and most unique Black Metal records of the last decade. Great drumworks on the bells and cymbals, great shredding, catchy hooklines and last but not least, it has a Bass ;-)
@@SoundSelector It was a joke, relax. There are so many great Black Metal bands in Norway you wouldn't grasp it. But some of my favorites are from poland and sweden as well
What a time to be alive ! One of the very few meaningfull sources of vitality for the spirit: Mgła ! Curious, paradoxal even, as these hollow and barren soundscapes fill up our hearts with contentment. Hail, my brothers and sisters in this empty existence.
David Martin Portmann Just ordered a shirt from No Solace yesterday but I ordered the record as soon as it was available a few months ago. For nihilists they’re on their shipping game.
Lyrics: I 00:00 A species had been armed with a double edged blade A guardless weapon of delusion Forged of a mirage of inherent transcendence In the tangled mechanisms of life itself As the curtain is being unraveled The ego writhes in a spasm of insight Delighted gods grunt like pigs At the mere notion of a raison d'etre From the gardens of Semiramis To the trenches of Ypres A meaningless uproar Sublime truths are revealed In the hammering of hobnailed jackboots And there's wisdom to be found In the shameful epitaphs of cowards From the gardens of Semiramis To the trenches of Ypres From the grounds of Comitium To the cellars of Tuol Sleng From the spores of presence And a swarm of pest Unto the ironies of being Falling hopes whip the ground Among laments of sunken millennia There are no paths to follow But a nightmare of endless repetition Those who peruse the annals of humanity Demanding patterns, connections, developments: Were there any to be found? @@Jurica-mtb Sometimes embracing the emotion you're feeling through music can be cathartic. I have severe anxiety and panic attacks, and I created a song about that anxiety. It sounds like a whirling, abyssal, hopeless, and frenetic spiral into hell. And that's how I help keep my anxiety in check, but making and listening to music like that.
I was never really into black metal out all of my years of being a metalhead. I mean... I've liked a few black metal songs before but not like this. A few months ago I was listening to one of the black metal songs, and then RU-vid Music automatically started playing Exercises in Futility V and I instantly fell in love. It sent me on a black metal rabbithole adventure. I discovered amazing black metal bands such as Grima and Uada just to name a few. All of MGLA's albums are amazing from start to finish and i never get bored.
Boy oh Boy what a great sound. I have been listing to death, black metal since 1982 I am 50 now this music is so addicting. Great Job MGLA please keep up the great work. Greetings from Albuquerque New Mexico USA.
Lyrics and music in number III are outstanding (actually, the whole album is excellent). Love it! One of those songs that fill a gap in your life you never knew existed before hearing it for the first time.
After listening to this album several times since it's release I can proudly say I enjoy this album more than Exercises In Futility even though that album holds a special place in my heart since it was my first album I ever heard from Mgla. This one to me just sounds like a more mature and glorified version of Exercises In Futility and is a great follow up to it as well. All my opinion but man is this band absolutely phenomenal in so many ways!
I agree. EiF was an awesome album. AoE is a masterpiece. I don't know how Mgla can ever top this. Though I didn't think they could've topped EiF and they did. For now I'm just gonna enjoy this masterpiece and appreciate it as one of the best things 2019 has offered me.
@@VideoGameMusicFan13 I agree but if they were able to top EIF with this album then I'm sure they can do it again with their next album even though that probably won't be for another 4 or so years.
I think both records are at the top of their awesomeness. I mean, they are basically the same thing, but EIF is more focused on the failure of religious belief, whiel AOE is more about the rational stream of thoughts that a nihilitst goes through when they become aware of the terrible nature of humankind. These guys go far beyond music. This is the Bible of nihilism.
Good guys Mgla & No Solace - straight up uploading the whole album on release date. No bullshit, no ads, just pure music. Keep on going! Will for sure buy the new album.
I had lost interest in modern BM many moons ago but always check in from time to time. Mgla's "With hearts towards none" is by far one of the greatest black metal albums ever and one I still routinely come back to. I admit I wasn't AS impressed with their releases after, I just felt "with hearts" set a bar so high that it would be near impossible to ever reach again.... Well I am so happy to be wrong and to come back to discover this masterpiece. I have been waiting for this album since WHTN and I had a feeling deep down Mgla had it in them to pull it off... So happy. Incredible musicians, artist and performers... I will always believe Mgla is the evolution of BM, a perfection of a craft that has been... copied to death but rarely executed uniquely since the early second wave.
I have been listening black metal for about 27 years on and off and when yt recommended me Exercises in Futility a few years back, I remembered why I fell in love with the genre all those years back. This feels like a more mature version of that album, even though EiF will always have a special place in my heart, for it being the first Mgła album I listened.
