MG 4 EV Trophy and SE In-Depth Review | Luscombe MG Leeds 

Love em (have got a trophy on order...have given up hoping my ZSEV ordered in Dec 2021 will ever appear) but the rear wiper omission is a bad trend that many cars are taking like Kia and Hyundai...the manufacturers claim that you don't need one as the aerodynamics make the water run off...this may be BUT it doesn't make the dirt it leaves behind disappear!...I have seen tons of cars with no rear wiper and a dirty rear screen ....alot easier to flick a wash/wipe than to have to get out and clean it. Not a deal breaker but annoying.

Just done a test drive this morning really impressed with it so much so I ordered a long range SE

Both SE and Trophy are excellent cars but for value and maintenance in the future the £6000 cheaper SE is the one for me as its basically the same car but only a very shorter range difference which you can't lose from as your going to need to stop at least once from both cars from a long journey and never going to gain from on a shorter journey if you buy the Trophy model.. Also although the air intake is a very clever device on the Trophy model and saves you miles by the charge it doesn't need it on the SE because the battery is lighter so that will save you at least the same amount of miles or even more? Rear spoiler looks good on Trophy but looks good as well without it on the SE as it doesn't do anything apart from looks.. Both fantastic cars but save yourself the six grand for a new battery and the extra three grand via replacement on the larger Trophy battery when the old one dies if you're planning to keep your SE in seven years time after the warranty has run out..💰😉

Best review so far, had a test drive in the Trophy, it was the little extras that are included, like the blind spot indication in the mirrors, programmable star buttons on the steering wheel and the heated seats and steering wheel 😁

One of the best reviews out there for an MG4 so many reviews have not gone in depth and have treated the review like a petrol car. I already drive an MG zs ev and love it I am waiting for a test drive some time in October. Cannot wait

I've ordered a LR SE. Only thing missing is built in satnav. Pity MG don't offer that as an upgrade.

No rear wiper? So when stationary, or in slow-moving traffic, how effective are rain-clearing aerodynamics? Not very.

Cancelled an order for the new Ford focus to buy an MG4 Trophy. Delivery before Christmas…maybe.

Living in farmland Lincolnshire with constantly dirty roads from lorries and farm machinery, the lack of a rear wiper is a huge omission, water may run off but dirt definitely will not.

You may not need the rear wiper to sell the car, I do need the rear wiper to drive it all year round.

No heat pump! Would prefer MG MARVEL R but MG say not coming to uk such pity as would place order!

A twin engine version would even start to worry Tesla, having a 4sec to 62mph/100kph will be plenty for almost everyone and the style is so good alround Hot Hatch/ Family Suv, it's a real winner on every front.

Just wish the SE had a reverse camera.. kind of sad in that price range. Clever move by MG.. now I got to go for the Trophy. Just wish the lane assist and auto cruise would not freak out so much as reported by a lot of reviewers

Looking forward to taking a closer look at the 4 very soon, even though the 5 is a more likely contender due to BDS (big doggy syndrome). A few observations: You don’t get a rearward view in the door mirrors from the passenger seat in any car The MG5 could have the aerodynamics of a peregrine falcon but that’s not going to shift early morning condensation from the rear window before I reverse of the drive. Perhaps the designers decided owners could turn on de-misters from the app while we sup our morning coffee but I’ll not be the only one to forget. Leather seats. Seriously? Are we trying to reduce environmental impact or what That said, all-in-all a great looking package from MG 👍

Pathetic you lose the satnav and safety features on the cheaper version which are standards and nearly all other EV cars even base models

Got one a few month ago. Absolutely spot on cars. From luscombe Leeds as well. It does more than 218 miles without aircon on, and drove sensibly. Around 250ish miles. Speed it fast as well. Very nippy

Nice car but not 64 kwh its only 61.7 and 50.8 kwh usable on standard car also some owners mention some surfaces scratched already on rear black plastics and lights (most probably after bad washing techniques).

Tempted to come for a test drive.

4 MG4s delivered to my local dealer and all are dropping gearbox oil.This is a real problem and I would hang fire or cancel orders before going anywhere near this particular car.

Back looks gawky. I also don't like the regeneration optioned into the touch screen. Alloys and wheels look stingy too. Otherwise I like it.

I noticed in your video the display showed “ Yards “ on the satnav is this for old people or Americans ! can this be changed to Meters ?

Good review but sound is terrible.

The interia of the car is dark and depressing,infotainment system is very small and the rotary shifter is for left hand drive the Chinese did not bother to adjust it for right hand drive . The car It’s not groundbreaking at all but it’s ok for the price indeed ! Budget EV 👍

If car is ready to go as soon as you get inside, how does that work if car is broken into? Is there an immobiliser?

Good looking cars, but that silly double rear spoiler on the Trophy model is a no for me.

Has MG sorted out the oil leak from the rear of the car yet?

I switched off when he call the seat material Leather.It's vinyl,why would you listen to his opinion when he can't even get that right.

No rear interior lighting, no rear cup holders, no centre drop down arm rest, no rear centre seat head rest, no passengers hand grab rails? Could do better. Plus, compared to my wife’s ID3 and my 2020 Ioniq the rear room is cramped.
