Bizarre! Of the handful of episodes of this show on RU-vid, this is from of the ONLY week of shows I saw "back in the day!" We were on summer vacation in the Knoxville area (my local NBC affiliate didn't carry the show), and this was one of the episodes I watched in the motel room.
This is from 6/29/84, and would have been the last episode of the series. Santa Barbara would have bowed the following MOnday, but Lloyd Bochner, who was to play CC Capwell, had a heart attack, so it took another four weeks to get SB on the air because of the recast. Also on this episode in the Squares portion, Chuck Woolery, Paula Kelly, and Arlene Francis(her last appearance on a game show not counting her and Kitty Carlisle's Howard Stern appearance in the early 90s)
The last episode was TX on 27th July 1984. The panel was Phyllis Diller, Fannie Flagg, Leonard Frey, Barry Gordon, Constance McCashin, Roger E. Mosley, Charles Nelson Reilly and Roxie Roker.
Actually, if Mark Goodson had allowed the bluff answers (and the writers for the Match Game were certainly good enough to do that), THEN Peter Marshall would have been the host of the HS (nothing against Jon Bauman, but...) -- THAT would have been magic to watch.
@tbone24100 It would be because Mark Goodson produced both shows and if you listen closely enough to TPIR there is other game show themes throughout and MGHS replaced the Feud theme for the cars.
