Australian MG4 Essence spec EVs finally have an EV Route charging planner enabled in the latest software update :) I'll show you the new features, subscribe to see how well it works on a long road trip I'm taking in a few weeks
Excellent news for MG drivers. Does it also give battery percentage on arrival? The Polestar Google maps route planning is fantastic and something I would not like to do without anymore.
It appears that MG dealers will only install this update if you book it in for a regular service. I have booked my mg4 for warranty work (warped undertray) and wanted this update done at the same time. The dealership indicated that this update could only be performed at a regular service, which in my case is 12 months away. Another example of poor after sales service by mg dealers. I will ring Sydney City MG to see if they will do it.
i dont know how the software update really works. In finland i have R46 and if i ask to update R59 they dont update. They update different modules only if you have issues but not infotainment software.
Unfortunately the MG dealer experience for software updates is not great in any country :( also there are many software modules and only some result in noticeable changes to the displayed car version numbers
Great news. I bought my MG4 77kwh Essence in May. Would I need to book in a service with the MG dealership to have this upgrade applied?(obviously I’m a long way off my scheduled service).
@@NeeravBhatt Thanks. I’m in Melbourne, I’m guessing the best place would be the Melbourne City or Dandenong dealerships? The one I bought the car from was likely a franchisee.
No Australian MG4 customer owned car is OTA enabled yet (If ever) When I bought my MG4 77 end of June it was like that from the dealer Sydney City MG. I'm guessing they test the latest software updates first because that dealership is owned by HQ. It's not a licenced franchise like all the other Aussie MG dealerships are
I guess it should have maps for all of Australia. Will make a note tomorrow to set pretend destination of Darwin and Perth to see if EV charger planning works all the way
It would let me plan Sydney to Brisbane and Sydney to Adelaide. But wouldn't let me plan an EV charging route from Sydney to Darwin or Sydney to Perth. Possibly because the car uses Vodafone and there wouldn't be much Vodafone signal in NT and WA
@@NeeravBhatt I’m in Darwin and get a signal there, but not so much when outside Darwin itself. I was in Perth before, and it was the same when going rural.
