The trick is to be sure to install a new pilot bearing, and ensure the clutch plates are properly aligned. Some people say you need to install the engine and trans together as a unit. But that increases the weight, and makes it harder to do as a single person working alone. Stripped down, the 1800 mgb engine is less than 400lbs. Much more manageable
