Roy Nicol explains the advantages of installing the overdrive system in the MGB . We then see a lovely film of the MG being driven down the motorway during the 1960's . Enjoy !
5 Gallons £1.65 !! I'd just started driving in 1969/70 and can remember a gallon rocketing to 50p during the '73/'74 oil crisis, I had a 1967 2 litre Triumph Vitesse convertible, wire wheels and overdrive, which I clocked up more miles pushing (for lack of fuel at pumps) rather than driving - I still have my ration book. A pair of TR6's with O/D for 28 years, and finally in 2024 an MGB GT with O/D and never suffering an O/D fault on any of them ever.
Ah thanks for that nuts spanner man ! You have had helluva motoring time , the overdrive was a great innovation and saved fuel . I can remember a gallon costing 4/11 ! That was in the era of Green shield stamps and cigarette coupons ! I love the MGB , breaks down a bit , usually from overheating , but on a normal country run , it’s great !
Thanks for that info Graeme , these films crop up all over the place . I found this film , was in an old can at a car boot ! Not found any more though !
