Hello everyone! Today we're reviewing the MGP Brake Caliper Covers that Albert put on his G37x Sedan! Find them here: www.amazon.com/Upgrade-Your-A... Instagrams: _albertabraham jdmjunkyard_indey #G37 #MGP #BrakeCaliperCovers
Thanks fellas. Just bought a Grand Cherokee Altitude Black. Was looking at a custom blue with the Jeep logo but wasn't sure if they would hold up. Don't trust myself painting the calipers LOL.
Yeah! No problem, we’re glad this helped you. They look pretty good on the car and it would definitely save you a decent amount of time to just get a set to throw on. 🤙
I just came across these & it doesn't look bad at all. I just got my supra & its definitely something I'm looking for to cover it from dust etc. I've seen folks use spray paint & peel it off whenever but it's so much work taping it all up
I painted the calipers underneath and these look better and work really well to protect from dust! We recently swapped some pads on the car and the calipers underneath were very dusty
I just installed mine and the right front cover is the only one that is scraping between router and clip. I have tried uninstalling, filing down but still scraping. Any tips??
Do you think white covers would show visable dirt easily? I feel like they would but if kept clean they would look so good on my black honda accord coupe.
Levi MGP (MGP Caliper Covers) Oct 1, 2021, 1:14 PM PDT In order to align the covers properly on a vehicle's caliper to meet the mounting points you can push or pull the welded arms closer to each other or away from each other as required. Each arm is welded at the front plate but the rest of the arm is free to adjust without snapping. The arms are made of aluminum so they will take a stretch, see image attached for reference, thank you! Can you send us a picture that shows the incorrect fitment.
How are they holding up now? I painted the calipers on my car red 2 years ago and the paint has held up great but the calipers get dirty fast and the brake dust shows up instantly on my black wheels. For my next car I’ll most likely go with caliper covers for the style and not having to deal with brake dust making my wheels look dirty 24/7
They’re holding up great, and they’re still doing an absolutely fantastic job of keeping brake dust off of everything. We’re both surprised at just how well they work.
Has anybody had an issue with brake pad replacement with these covers? I’m afraid a mechanic won’t take them off properly and replace them properly. I’m just wondering if anyone has had an issue. Thanks
I ordered the generic ones myself. Haven't been installed yet. I don't want the MGP logo and "rivets" to be so prominent because I think it looks cheap, so thinking about hitting them with some VHT red anodized paint. Glad to know they actually shield brake dust, my Konigs are constantly covered in dust. Now I have a legit reason to justify these covers besides just being a cheap bastard. 🙃 Hoping these covers give me a 25 HP boost. 😆
@@BalancePointMedia One thing I've learned about these whether they're retailed directly from the manufacturer or from an independent seller is that if you even as much open the package they consider that a "used" item and will not refund your money if you discover a bad fit. Basically, the clips on my rear calipers are too wide to seat correctly. The seller advertised as fitting my year make/model, but they don't fit. Since I opened the plastic bag to try fitment (like duh) of just one of the clips, they will not accept a return/refund. Rather than lose basically $200 I'm going to break out the old Dremel and adapt those clips to work. Their business model is a bit shady to say the least, so if anyone is in the market for these covers make sure, then triple check you're ordering the right version specific to your vehicle, because just opening the plastic packaging voids your refund, giving you one shot to get it right. $200 isn't chump change for a lot of ppl.
@@matthewhartman7176 Absolutely. It is a way how MGP and CCI communicate and sell that definitely turned my sight to AliExpress. Found right seller there who is also manufacturer. He checked my exact model, asked for pics and made custom tailored aluminum covers with any logo or color without up price. 2,5 weeks later box arrived and voila. Way, way nicer for roughly 200$ (instead of 300$ for definitely less attractive final product). It is great that we can learn from each others how to make better purchases.
I have them on my car and on the rear passenger side there is a squeal cause the clip is rubbing the rotor.. I've taken the whole thing off and reinstalled it still rubbed, I've bent the clips inwards, still rubs.. I've set the clips to the back as far as I can and it still rubs... the other 3 are fine, zero noise form them. I can't for the life of me get this one side to stop though... They looks cool though! Just wish I could get this noise to stop
@@doomdreaming see I'm lucky cuz the dealership replacing mine bro. He was fucking with it and I told him not too. But hey my clip broke off when I was driving. It sounded like metal on metal just like it was rubbing. The caliper cover is off and it still sounds like something is in there/fell off the in between the rotor or something idk.im still hearing noise even when I took it off. Do u know why I'm still hearing noise even after the caliper cover is off completely? Just one side of the clip broke off. The other side clip is still on. Do u know why or may have suggestions as to why I'm still hearing noise ? And thanks man cuz my driver side one is fucked up but the other 3 are perfectly fine no problems.
Performance breaks cost to much after market, $3,000 for a good looking set is criminal especially when speccing it through the a dealers builder website the additional cost is $1,500 at most unless you spring of CCB which range from $7K up to $20k.
Looks good and actually I was thinking paint my calipers but looks like duty all the time....now I gonna try to get the calipers covers because cover your tire from dusty and looks better I think....
The calipers do not need protection from dust, they need more than the air to pass through them to cool them down. all you do is heat the brakes more than acceptable
@@derby941 The way these install the highest probably of noise is due to lack of clearance from the bracket to the edge of the rotor. What does the sound sound like? Metal squealing or dragging?
So what you 100% say that you have a lot less brake dust on your actual wheels and not the dust just going around the cover and still getting on your wheels
There would be substantially more dust on the wheels without the covers. Of course they won’t block everything but considering that I don’t clean them for months at a time and they’re still basically clean, I’d consider that to be a good indicator The amount of dust under the covers when we removed them for a brake job was substantial as well
I understand your reason as to why you got it and how you think it looks cool and how you're not trying to be something you're not. In my opinion though if you don't really care about that aspect of your car (because as you stated it is your ladies car) why even bother buying nice wheels then? Doesn't it just defeat the purpose of going all out for that aspect of the car? You don't really need nice wheels. You could've used that money to improve the car in some other areas. That's just my opinion though. I would like to hear why you went half way with that portion of that car.
Great question! I should probably be more specific about what I define as a show car, having owned a few in the past. If the car were a show car, I would run the proper big brake kit and authentic wheels. Since it’s my girlfriends automatic awd daily driver, and I have a 350z and panigale, I have no interest in improving the performance of the car. Every modification I’ve done to this car, except for the swift springs which improved handling, has only improved the car aesthetically. Ultimately we now have a car that looks good, handles well, and gets a lot of complements. So as far as I’m concerned I’ve made every choice I’ve wanted to in order to improve this car in almost every category like you said. And in reference to the wheels, these are replicas and if I wanted to get the show wheels I would have probably spent at least twice as much. They were certainly an improvement over the stock 17s which look hideous. So to sum it up, I do care how it looks, or else I wouldn’t have done any of this in the first place. But it’s not a show car, and if it was, I would have spent a significantly higher amount of money on everything. Also my gf loves it
We agree, but tbh it’s pretty evenly divided on this. A bunch of people wouldn’t run them, a bunch would. For keeping brake dust off the wheels? They’ve been so good. They look nice, and they keep the wheels cleaner longer. All good in our book.
Considering these brake dust covers are actually keeping my wheels very dust free for extended periods of time, I’d consider them more than acceptable. And definitely better than the fake big brake kits that actually try to look like calipers 🤙
Your a hater.. these are an inexpensive way to not have to look at unsightly brake calipers and if you keep your car impeccably clean as I do they save a lot of time in the cleaning department..
Much like a simulated tan :p. But for real, they’re caliper covers, they’re not trying to look like real brakes in our opinion, and they do an amazing job keeping brake dust off the wheels. 🤙
Well bro, it’s one of those interesting things, where you realize that all normal conversations have interruptions. It’s pretty rare to have a simple conversation with someone without anyone interjecting. So maybe it’s annoying? Maybe we’ve been friends for long enough, that we can bounce silly stuff off of each other. Is what it is. Enjoy your day. 🤙
