Yeah, I always loved ramboing out with Paz as this epic music plays, shooting soldiers and hearing the chopper close in, putting Paz on the chopper, then shooting at enemies as I fly out in the chopper.

Well tbh, I don’t think Big Boss ever lost his heroism. It was mainly Venom Snake who became a Demon.

@@Dasistrite nah all of mgs 5 is venom snake having a near death experience as he lay defeated by solid snake. Even gz is just venom's memories transplanted into his subconscious during his coma. We aren't actually playing as big boss. Just like we weren't actually snake during the tanker chapter but Raiden in training.

The funniest thing is that the one who wrote this song was Ludwig Forsell, the same guy who wrote the songs for TPP. Harry Gregson-Williams composed the song that sounds when XOF destroys Mother Base but did not compose any ingame songs.

The great composer trio of Metal Gear, Harry Gregson Williams, Ludvig Forsell and Jamie Christopherson.

Harry Gregson-Williams only made the tracks ‘She’s Rigged’ and ‘The Fall of Motherbase’ - but otherwise he had a mostly supervising role. It’s very noticeable that Harry is first and foremost a ‘classical’ movie composer when you hear the two tracks, compared to Ludvig’s more ‘mood over melody’-style. Ludvig Forssell was also an in-house composer at Kojima Productions and when he first joined the team, the basic concept of the soundtrack was already in place; the idea was to keep it a non-tonal, non-chordal and percussive score. And since Kojima loved what Ludvig did with the opening track ‘Ground Zeroes’, he was subsequently made the in-house lead composer. ‘Bloodstained Anthem’ was the first track he made entirely by himself. He just _is_ ridiculously talented, and was also fortunate to have a couple of famous (Japanese) composers from previous MGS games as mentors, before he joined KP. It’s no wonder that he won an award for best musical score in Death Stranding.

I am still so mad about the end of Ground Zero's. I played Peace Walker at various coffee shops recruiting for MSF on my PSP. I spent hours capturing tanks, apcs and helicopters. We built MSF. *I* built it. And they took it all away.

The Phantom Pain is a hell of a lot better in my opinion, but I can understand. TPP was missing a whole chapter that Konami didn't do because they rushed out instead of let Kojima finish the game... Also, GZ's soundtrack was way better, this one deserves to be a final boss music, not music when you're trying to get the hell out of the base and get caught...

-- Mightyena -- Ground Zeroes had a really good vibe too it. It had that sort of near-future tech vibe to it which I feel was a bit lacking in Phantom Pain. Even though you still have the Idroid and a biomechanical arm it still felt odd and I think that was due to the lack of high security bases. It just felt more like mgs3 whereas GZ was trying to be more like the modern day metal gear games. I still absolutely love TPP and the only one that rivals it for me is mgs2 but it did miss a lot of potential.

The story was better. Things TPP needed were... (1) Act 2 to be finished... (2) Act 3 to be actually in the game... and (3) Mission 46 "Truth" removed entirely and replaced with something else.

ninjast4r I agree it was lackluster and the gameplay was good. I just personally don't get the point in having to say that one is better and bashing the other just because.

Because Ground Zeroes was legitimately better. The music was better, the level design was better, and the story set-up everything so well only for the Phantom Pain to continue it well.
