I use the rvh all the time but putting the blade directly on the post opens up holes in the seal, for a good seal you have to learn how to hit that spot between the skate and the pad although difficult is very effective
This move cost Skinner a goal last night. It creates that gap behind the shoulder as soon as the leg drops. Unless your goalie is 6’6 I think it creates to much of a gap.
"to eliminate any holes" yeah, but there is holes???? I got beat 3 times this weekend from a sharp angel in my RVH at my blocker side.. I never get beat there... So how do we cover up the holes? I have no idea what im usually doing?? but you didn't talk about where to have your arms/gloves or anything, just the basic movement?? It seems simple but a little explanation would be great.. Maybe a few focus points on what to do with your arms?? pull them in tight or someting like that? :-)
Paddle down is not necessary the best position in all cases. When your shooters are skilled, you leave the top foot of net open, and we've all seen in the NHL how a good shooter can exploit that open area and 'tuck' one under the crossbar. If it's a beer league and pickup level hockey you can get away with it.
