What grit sand paper did you use initially? Do you use a lacquer? Enamel? Epoxy? Acrylics?

Cleaning with "Wax and grease remover" ...ensures a clean surface and no fisheyes that are hell to remove.

Secret of the professional painter! Nice job. One question: did you fill the gap between lower and upper part of the hull? Or just sanded and filled with primer and paint like I saw!
