Just like everyone else, musicians are trying to find ways to do what they do during covid. A few weeks ago, I got the call from WSMV TV channel 4 to be a part of their Today in Nashville morning show. If you follow my vlogs, you’ve seen that television station’s stage many times but I’ve only played the show one other time as the featured artist. The catch with this particular appearance was that it couldn't be shot live at the station so they asked if I might be able to video tape a live performance.
That sounded like an excellent excuse to put together a band, learn a group of songs and shoot as much as we could. The TV airing of Stacy’s Song will take place in a few days and hopefully, I’ll get at least one more song out to you from footage we shot that day. The day was awesome and I had a blast working with Max Frye on guitar, Jack Bagwell on bass and Tasji Bachman on keys & bgvs.
The rest of the vlog covers a pretty routine trip to another Song Suffragettes gig with a couple of important exceptions. I’ve been playing a song of my own at every show recently and on this particular Monday, Linsay Ell was in the lineup and was kind enough to lend her guitar playing skills to the solo section of my song. It was a great night and a very, “Nashville” sort of experience where you just never know who you might end up on stage with :)
I’m 16 years old and I want to be a music professional when I grow up. I try to play lots of instruments but the one that I feel most at home on is a drum set. I would say the only thing that impresses me more than a great musician is a great songwriter so I also spend a lot of my time writing and recording. I thought it would help me keep focused on music if I started a drum series where I learned a new song every couple of weeks. After 5 years, it’s now turned into a larger musical search but my goal hasn’t changed. Hopefully, I will keep doing music, keep loving it and keep getting better.
