Mia and Akshay’s story is so unbelievable that even movies don’t attempt it nowadays, namely that they sat next to each other on an airplane! Mia Holmsen, a sustainability nerd from Norway, lived in the Upper West Side in Manhattan. Akshay Chawdhry, a finance bro India, lived in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. They had no common friends, and the odds of them ever meeting were slim to none, even on the apps. They weren’t even supposed to be on the same airline, or have seats next to each other. But call it fate, destiny or pure dumb luck, they ended up sitting next to each other and talking all the way through a 7 hour flight.
Fast-forward a couple of years, and they finally had their long-awaited wedding with all their friends and family in Goa, India. For the Norwegians and Americans, it was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to be involved in an Indian wedding. For the Indians, it was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to be the minority in an Indian wedding in India!
What followed was a 3 day Indo-Norwegian extravaganza that will live long and strong in the memories of all the guests and certainly Mia and Akshay.
