Actually I can see how it would help with winds and high waters its heavy and will be able to break through blockages allowing the medics to reach people that are trapped
silver scout actually bullet proof vests for firefighter and emergency medical services is more common then you think. It falls under our category of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). As a first responder we are right there on the scene with the police staging whether it be an active shooter, or just a civil dispute. People forget to remember that criminals no matter what will get access to firearms and in turn will use them against anyone they feel is a threat to them in example a first responder. For the most part except for some states every single United States citizen can buy military grade body armor to protect themselves from active shooters. Only makes sense that the medics and firefighters staging on the same active shooter scene as the police get to wear bullet proof vests as they put their lives on the line to maybe be able to reach a mass casualty scenario and save all life possible. I believe the first responder in this video who say the intentions are for high winds as we know the faster an object is moving the more force it has hence the more penetration. That armored vehicle serves as a safe haven from 60mph debris as well as protection is active shooter scenarios. This is in no means a militarization rather a realization that today we need to implement protective countermeasures in order to ensure life of both parties. In this question are you saying first responders should not have the right to be protected from gunfire when trying to preserve life?
You'd think this is a stupid purchase but the news stories are accurate about the issue, even LAPD SWAT has their Rescue 4 set up as an ambulance and it's worked pretty well.
@@nitron3515 I think the M2 Bradley was for forest fires, and the German firefighting tank is like a tank base (Without the turret and cannon) And an attached water cannon that can move to high and otherwise unreachable places.
It’s sad that even the men and women that are fire fighters and emt have to worry about being shot on the job. I’m happy that they’re now equipped to handle active shooter calls but I find it sad.
yep its true but keep in mind even here in Germany and Europe we have Tactical gear for EMS and Fire Fighter becouse of Terror and stuff... its getting worse everywhere
Seems more like a fun toy for the fire department to drive around in

actually not at all... these things are needed... notice the bullet proof vests int he back of it and the helmets. Thats because during active shooters and in riots where the diversity crowds are firing upon rescue units. In Olso the police have to escort fire and ambulance into the no go zones as they are fired upon. Its just part and parcel of living in a large city these days.
mark rush I see personal protective equipment. Is your implementation that unarmed first responder shouldn’t be able to wear bullet proof vests which are able to be purchased by most United States citizens? Are you saying they should be shot while trying to preserve life? Here’s some facts. Cops don’t get paid a livable wage for what work they do. The fire department and medics get paid even worse to respond to your calls everyday and preserve life.
David Grover it’s one truck, for an entire city, it’s not going to be as useful as you think. I’m a firefighter, and this is not needed in any way, shape or form.
Jim Wilson, It is one truck for a situation that if people followed the evacuation orders should not happen at all so it will be rare. And you should know that. Just like the county’s incident command truck (We use a trailer in my county.) or the swat team’s armored personnel carrier (We use an old M113 APC here.) it is around for that once a year problem and will handle much lesser issues just fine. When it is that or a nearby department’s turn for a rescue during a North Hollywood style shootout, Riot, or just a hurricane that will be invaluable.
Miami FD great job calling it a _"High Wind Resistance Vehicle"_ but sure can't hurt to have when rescuing people and your own personnel when bullets are flying. No criticism at all from this guy, although people like *_AOC_* would consider it unnecessary.
@@hotaru3336 I 100% agree. I think everyone with the proper training should exercise their right as an American to carry a firearm. You never know when you'll need it for self defense.
It's hard to say we need this truck for high winds and wind speed above 30 or 35 puts lives in danger from turning over We have truck and cars doing 70 mph all day long we have very small aircraft that can land in cross winds and large aircraft can land in high winds This looks to be an amer planted attack unit that is set up for combat and sold as a response unit to save lives Not saying in high winds this makes it safer at time in high winds. blowing winds that can turn small things into weapons or take down trees Do we need it
Did this chief really stand in front of a camera and say he’s worried that one of his engines loaded with 500-1000 gallons of water is going to blow over in the wind? Miami you deserve better than this clown!
