The Miami Hurricanes manhandled the Florida Gators 41-17 in their 2024 football opener. New starting quarterback Cam Ward dissected the defense, throwing for 385 yards with three touchdowns. Ward threw for the most yards of any Miami quarterback in their Hurricanes debut. Florida entered this game on a 33 game winning streak in home openers. Miami running backs Damien Martinez and Mark Fletcher both played well as a dynamic duo. Tight end Elijah Arroyo and receivers Xavier Restrepo, Jacolby George and Isaiah Horton showed up big. Miami’s defensive line was disruptive, producing 3 sacks and 8 tackles for loss.
