I remember when my uncle and I would get so excited when "Miami Vice" came on, because we'd both look at each other and wonder, "What amazing new song are they about to unleash on the world?" That's what "Miami Vice" did better than any show to date - and honestly? A similar series needs to come back for a new generation.
@@TangentChaos oh yeah and don't forget Melrose Place and Charmed. I think CSI had a hand in showcasing the 2000s hit singles too. Would be interesting to research if Miami Vice broke the mold. 😁
This show was, and still is, absolute TV perfection. Incredible writing, characterisation, music, acting etc. Everything was stunning. One of the greatest shows of all-time.
I fully agree especially the first two seasons! Plus the pastel colors, high avant garde fashion, neon lights and showcase of Miami 🌴🌴🦩🦩. I love this show and era.
I disagree, at least when it come to characterizations and writing which even since the beginning was going up and down, but Miami Vice strength lies in scenes like this. Arms deal going with Phil Collins tune which somehow managed to bring tension just as great suspense movie scene. Plus, style was quite unique for its time. Also ,I'd add that acting wasn't great, but this is not the show you watch for stand out performances. Having said that, Miami Vice is show that was only possible in the 1980s, the last manly decade in film and television. Absolute greatness. And I do love Hills Street Blues and Crime Story.
40 years on and still no other series, no film, has been able to use music in the same way Vice did. It was part of the show, and even though it was often front and centre, it was organic to the episodes. It elevated the scenes. And yet it just... fit.
They always used music to convey emotions and what was going on . Brilliant shit man . Almost every music scene has zero dialogue but you know exactly what they’re thinking and doing . The in the air tonight scene and the voices scene are the shit . Hardly any dialogue at all . Only ONE other movie /show has ever been able to do this and they did it before Miami vice . That was the good , the bad , and the ugly . Interesting how that movie is still my favorite and Miami vice is still my favorite tv show . Music and looks on actors faces convey what you need to know .
I had one of his 45’s in a brass rack he put out in the 70’s when I was a kid , A side don’t give up on us baby , lol I remember side B was black bean soup.
Wow that's a die-hard Miami Vice 54 year old white male from Redondo Beach that is a piece of trivia I did not know it makes it even that more cooler and insane and a part of my childhood I will never forget thank you for that trivia I promise you millions of people would never have known if you wouldn't have shared it with us thank you
Miami vice was always like watching a music video with a lot of great songs your never have another series like this again unfortunately. God damn it someone bring back the 80s.
I remember rushing to get home from Boston by car to watch it and giving the car in front of me a hard time because it was doing 5mph UNDER the speed limit; when it pulled off I hit the accelerator and then was lit up from behind by blue flashing lights of a police car. The officer said to me "why the rush", I explained about Miami Vice and he said "looks like you're going to miss it then, come and look at this video we have of you harassing an UNMARKED POLICE CAR"! I still made it home in time 😁
Phil Collins and Miami Vice rule. I’m 83 and I throughly enjoy them. CD n DVD n any form of old video n music machines. Especially my cell. Thanks to RU-vid!!
Watching this episode from this epic 80s TV series makes me feel old. Listening to Phil Collins in the background and seeing Bruce Willis as an actor makes me feel sad, since both suffer from severe diseases and are not able to perform like they did in the past, they even struggle managing their daily life and need permanent support. Getting old is something for the brave only.
Love the light on Tubbs' face with the pattern made by the shadow from his hat. with the head tilt and shades on. Didn't take much to make a scene look really cool with him in it.
I went into the field of cinematography primarily because of this show. The attention to detail in the show is amazing, like you mentioned. It’s the little things 😎
Brings me right back Long beach island watching with my grandfather and though 9 months were he'll all.year they gave me.3 months of peace every year miss you 2 loves ya forever MUM AND Granpop rest in peace and thank you for a chance t peace in life
Michael Mann WAS the man. Nobody else will ever fill his shoes like this again. 🎶The day the series died So bye-bye, Miami Vice My heart grew heavy when it left me And I nearly cried Them good old boys tossed those badges to the sky Singing, "This'is it I'm gonna fly" This time I really do mean goodbye...🎶
Legend of a singer, and band. No one can compare. I'll never forget when this episode aired. So glad, they used his work on it. Espically for this iconic scene. Legendary. It literally suits it.
This scene here is one of my earliest memories of this show. Thank you for posting this video because I miss the 80's and early 90's really effin bad and am not kidding.
I bought season 1 of this show on dvd over the Summer(June 2022) all because Glen in The Wedding Singer was into this show ans growing up, I always wondered how good this show was, happy to say I love it!
I raced home Friday night from work so I could catch the 9:00 pm. episode of Miami Vice but got pulled over by a cop and received a speeding ticket. He asked me why were you speeding? I told him I was just listening to my radio and didn't realize how fast I was going. I should of told him the truth, maybe he would of let me go with a warning.
I remember watching this before Friday night videos then hearing Phil Collins one the spot at number one on the countdown now that's cold 🥶🥶🥶😡😡😡😡👍👍👍👍the Man classic everything he touches
